Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

I need to find this build i would like to know if my ascend is capable of anything over 710MHz its eating at me like rust on a ford I need to know or i might just lose it lmfao
 
hey, im new to this whole thing. hope im not being your typical annoying forum noob. But i really want to put gingerbread on my huawei ascend. and being new to this whole thing im not exactly sure of all of the terminology and whatnot. i know how to root my phone but thats about it to be honest.

Yes isaac is taking a break atm. I am the official maintainer til he returns. ATM I am looking at what I might be able to fix/improve other than aesthetics (and even those will be minor).

I am at work but when I get home I will see if I can post it up here for you.

But if you really want to save time, chances are if your oc'd to 710 on the 0521 build you would have no problem at 748. Isaac tweaked the oc kernal on the new build so this is more accurate than the previous build. So long story short oc'd at 710 on this build is faster than 748 on the 0509 build.:D

i would say give it a try, and i have manage to remove all bloatware in the metro folder and apps folder by using the latest root explorer 2.16...
 
well this is my issue for today i have rom manger premium with cm7 installed the latest release....when i go rom manager then in download rom theres 2 selection one says extras and the other says google apps when u click google apps theres 4 selections first one say:

2ND 20110120 universal no longer supported for android 2.3.2

3RD 20110115 universal no longer supported for android 2.3.2

4TH 20110114 universal no longer supported for android 2.3.2

can some explain what is this for

1ST 20110307 universal recommended for cm 7.0x for android 2.3.3<-- Use this GAPS with the latest CM7 build.

The others are just out dated and no longer available to download/flash. Use the first and you will be fine. Dont worry with the others

Glad you got it fixed. I too have a Belkin router, but not the N+. I tried Mferrills fix but it did not work for me. I have the same symptoms , constantly disconnecting and reconnection. This is only with build 05212011. I have went back to 05142011 for now, wifi works fine. Ill just wait and read, maybe a fix will come at some point. If not CM7 is still a great mod!

I have CM7.. And for some reason, every once in awhile my phone will say that the SD card has been unexpectedly removed even though I haven't even touched it, tried to mount it on my computer, or anything. This causes a problem being as most of the apps I use on a regular basis are on the SD card and won't launch. When I reboot the phone, it's fine and the SD card is there.

CM7 was working just fine for me up until this started happening. I have a theory that it has to do with CM7's apps2sd, because this only started happening after I starting moving some of my larger apps (like facebook and netflix) to the SD card to help save some space. Any ideas on what I can do to stop this? Or at least what might be causing it?

Sorry about the silly typo in the title. Lol.

Yeah, that's what I did. The static IP settings I entered work fine for build 05142011, even though I don't need them for that build. It works with dynamic IP. But the same IP settings do not work for 05212011.
 
If you uninstall GAPPS then you will not be able to use the APP Market. So why you would want to uninstall it I am not sure. Could you elaborate alittle more?

If your having problems with it not working properly you can always just reflash GAPPS. Though im not sure wither or not you will have to do a complete reflash or you can just flash GAPPS over the existing.

Normally I tend to just lurk, but I've really screwed myself now. I'm trying to flash cm7 on my ascend. I followed the instructions in the guide, which were very simple; root, cwm v.3, back up etc. but my phone is stuck in a boot
loop. I cannot get to cwm and my computer is not detecting my phone. Any ideas or help would be MUCH appreciated.

Have someone call your phone to knock it out of the loop.

I had this same problem & it always worked for me.I stumbled across this one day when stuck in a loop & the alarm went off as scheduled & knocked out the bootloop.So,I tried the phone call trick the next time it got stuck in a loop & it worked.


GOOD LUCK & keep us posted on your progress.




BTW,I discovered the cause of the bootloop was "freezing" the stock launcher.So,avoid freezing the stock launcher w/TITANIUM BACK-UP or whichever freezing method you may be using.

I just tried this again, no luck. It rings 3 times, then goes to voicemail. I was able to get to cwm but couldn't reset to factory because my computer still won't detect my phone. Now I'm really confused.

you have to make sure your holding down vol up,call key, and tap power, just becuase your phone is in boot loop dont mean you cant pull the battery and boot into recover, boot loop has nothing to do with recovery.
 
Hi everyone! I'm new here :) been following the forums for a while. But have run into problems myself now and need asap help. I flashed icarus1.1 and liked it but decided to flash cyanogen/7 because i couldn't fix my mms problem (tried everything) including mms fix (to the letter) and re-flashing several times.

So i flashed cyanogen/7 few days ago and its the best thing that ever happened to my phone lol :D but ran into problems as well. Everything works fine except i cant install any apps. They download, then once they try to install it goes into the cyanogen mod 7 loop thingy for a while. Then once its done the app isn't even installed. I don't have any of the Gapps, even though i flashed the Gapps zip.

I also cant recover any of my apps i have on my SD card. I see them in the file manager and also under applications, it gives me the option to uninstall but they're not installed. Another thing is when i tried to restore data to my phone, under CWM it didn't restore my contacts so i had to restore them through the Vcard file and now they're all out of order, as in not alphabetized. (i don't have them backed up through Google, Sadly) but will once i fix everything.
Also if this helps, (which I'm sure is a grave mistake by my part) whenever i flashed a new Rom i would advanced restore only the data of my backup to my new Rom. As i saw this as the only way to get back my (Data) apps, contacts, texts etc. Titanium backup and i don't get along. As in i don't like it and didn't work for me when i attempted to restore things. So for example, when i flashed cyanogen/7, i restored the data of the backup i made while icarus1.1 was flashed on my phone to get my data back. And i think i still have both CWmods on my phone. The one you need for icarus1.1(2.5xx) and currently the one you need for cyanogen/7 (3.xx5)
I don't know how to get rid of (2.5xx) so i kinda just flashed the latter over it. I do boot into recover mode v 3.xx5 though, so no worries their.

My phone status as of now is an endless cyanogen (mod) 7 loop thingy, constantly loading. Ever since i changed the app install to settings from automatic to internal.

So as you can see my phone is in a swamp of problems right now :( and i need all the help i can get to take it out asap. So pleeease all you great people I'd really really appreciate it if you can help me out as best you can. 1 step at a time, we'll get this done :D i gotta get my phone fixed soon as i have things to do that cant be done without my phone lol. I am patient so no worries. Thank you very much. hope to get help soon :p

Edit: Okay i fixed the endless cm/7 loading screen by booting into recovery and restoring boot. it also seems to have fixed the problem with not being able to install apps. well at least with the Gapps. but a new problem arised. i now have No SD card space. i think its from all the backups and Roms still on the card. if yall can guide me on how to clean my Sd card almost completely. All i want is my contacts, all media, like pictures videos, and texts. and if possible Just the data of 1 of my games lol. i put in several hours of game time, and hard thinking into that game lol. oh and how to take off cwm 2.5 as i already have 3.5. thanks

Ok, I'll cover what I know to at least get you up and running.. Sounds like for starters you are going to need to reflash cm7.. Sometimes you can just get a bad flash.. If Gapps doesnt show up then try to reflash gapps again..

Secondly, the problem with restoring data from icarus is that it is a different build of the Android OS. (Icarus is 2.1 and CM7 is 2.3.4) You will definately run into problems doing that.

You can actually install icarus, cm6/cm7 with CWM 2.x but installing CWM 3.x directly over works just fine..

Try that and see where your at.. Your going to have to dl the apps again since your not using Titanium Backup. For anyone else reading, still do not restore data..

Also, cm7 takes a few reboots for everything to settle in.. And if your on Metro, dont forget MetroFF..
 
hello everyone my phone has been receiving double messages since i used the lastest update of cm7 ascend i tried calling metro (that was a huge fail) and they told me to press ##626* but my phone didnt do anything is there something wrong with my flash because i tried to reflash and it didnt work help please also i hope im not in the wrong place with this
