what got you over the hump?

It had to be something on my computer, because I uninstalled a poop-ton of programs in hopes that one of them was causing some type of clog-up. So, once I did that and restarted my comp (which rebooted super quick, I might add), I just ran revolutionary one last time, walked away, and came back to a phone with S-OFF. It was like magic!!! I'm getting all of my stuffs back from my backup and then gonna witch recovery to amon ra once I have all of my stuffs in place.

YAR!!!!!

thanx for the update. glad you are rooted now.:)

If I plan to use AMON RA as recovery, I assume I can select "No" when revolutionary asks me if I want to install ClockworkMod? Then after S-OFF is accomplished, I install AMON RA by going into recovery and flashing PC36IMG.zip?

Just to be clear, you flash a PC36IMG file in the bootloader(hboot). It is set to scan for it automatically. If it is named correctly, you should just have to tell it to update when it finds the file. Then select no when it asks to reboot and you should be able to go to recovery.

This is great to see on a Monday!!

Ok, so basically I follow all the instructions in the OP.

I then download titanium backup and run a backup.

I then download Amon-RA and run it.

I then install a battery saving kernel like the one listed in the OP

I then install MikG, which is considered the best Sense 3.0 ROM out currently?

Is this correct?

You should install MikG first then the kernel otherwise the kernel included with MikG will overwrite the one you flashed previously.

OCN, nice job man....Good write up. I'll be rooting my in-laws tonight. I rooted an evo 3d this weekend and the steps are very similar.

Hi Friends:

just one question for the Revolutionary Rooting Procedure...What's the better computer for HTCDriver 3.0.0.007? with Windows 7 Ultimate or with Windows XP

Thanks

TecMan

Success with S-OFF and root.

S-OFF came no problem on first run of revolutionary.exe but when revolutionary.exe asked if I wanted to "download and install ClockworkMod" I said "no." When I tried to boot into recovery I got the red triangle/exclamation point. I re-ran revolutionary.exe and replied "yes" to "download and install ClockworkMod." After that, I was able to access recovery mode without any problem and get su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip file installed.

I then put AMON RA zip file (renamed to PC36IMG.zip) in root folder of SD card; went into HBOOT; and HBOOT recognized the file and asked if I wanted to update. I said "yes" and now I'm in AMON RA recovery utility. Just completed nandroid backup without a hiccup.

Thanks to all the developers and ocnbrze.

i do not think that it matters much which one. but my guess out of the two would be windows 7.

Question: I forgot to install the htc drivers onto my computer. I downloaded them but never installed. Everything seems OK - I Nandroid backup and have the S-Off. I skipped that step. Was it essential?
