no you need to get it from the guide. you need to flash it from recovery. how did you root your phone? did you follow this guide?

here is the file you need:http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip. place the file on the card and make sure that it is not in any folder.

go into recovery and follow the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. in the rooting section start with steps 10-12.

got it...excellent...thank you....that fixed my tether problem...now all i need is to flash synergy rom and i am good huh...dont even need a kernel

so then when i flash a kernal i am also getting the rom?
thats the way i am reading it.

no it is the other way around. when you flash a rom you get a kernel as well. now if you want a different kernel then the the one that came with the rom then all you would have to do is wipe dalvik cache and cache and flash a kernel. of course make a nandroid backup first before you do anything.

thats what got me...i downloaded the superwipe and then it says download the rom of choice which i guess will be gingerbread 2.3.3 = sense 2.1

and then i was going to flash golden monkey to go with it ...sound good?

you could flash any of the roms on the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html. you are not limited to gingerbread. you could flash a froyo rom or an aosp rom. the choice is yours as to what rom you want to flash. but if you want to use the golden monkey kernel then yes you need to flash a gingerbread sense rom.

so this is what i would do:
1.download your rom and put it on your card
2.go into recovery and make a nandroid backup
3.follow the flashing section in the guide to flash your rom
4.reboot and get everything setup
5.next go back to recovery and wipe dalvik cache and cache
6.flash your kernel
7.reboot

and you should be good to go. now give the kernel a few days before deciding to moving on to a different kernel.

not at all. if something happens you have a nandroid backup. read up on nandroid backups in the guide. that is why it is important to make a nandroid backup anytime you make any changes to your phone. so if something bad happens you can always go back and restore your nandroid.

also i would recommend that you switch to amon ra if you have not already. it is also in the guide as well under switching recoveries.

I'm reading that AmonRA is better that CWM. Do I install AmonRA after rooting? If so can I then delete CWM since, according to the OP I have to install it during the root process?

once you switch it will replace cwm. no need to delete it. just follow the guide in the switching recoveries section.

So downloading the PC36IMG.zip file will give me AmonRA and this will automatically replace CWM? Sorry just having a pre-freakout party here.

I installed the htc drivers then extracted the revolutionary .zip, ran the exicutable and with the phone connected and in charge only mode it says "waiting for device" that "pre-freakout party" is goin on here too. Any Ideas?

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do you have debugging turned on? also do you have your firewalls and anti-virus programs turned off as well. have you done all of the stuff in the before root section?

i know but i would start with mikg 2.5 or mik3d and go from there. both are great roms. with mikg2.50 you might want to upgrade to 2.52 it has the fixes that the 4.53 ota has cooked in. so here is what you do:
1.make a nandroid backup
2.wipe dalvik cache, cache, and data.
3.flash the superwipe (found in the guide)
4.flash mik2.5
5.reboot to make sure everything is working. you can even get it setup if you like.
6.wipe dalvik cache and cache and flash 2.51 patch
7.in the same recovery session you can then flash the 2.52 patch.

so like i said start with that one, then move on from there. remember to always make a nandroid backup. they are your friend. i'm a flashaholic so i flash roms constantly.

there is now sense 3.5 roms coming out. they are still in beta, but they are pretty cool so far.

I would like to say thanks for reminding me about the usb debugging and that I deserve a double facepalm for failing to PAY ATTENTION to details.

Thanks again
