Show us your Desire Homescreens...

You need to use an alternative Launcher such as ADW or Launcher Pro, or maybe you can do this with BetterCut also (by creating a shortcut and deleting the name), but I have never tried this option.

Looks like Lekky is using ADW there. (edit - no he is using Launcher Pro) as am I now. 5 rows of icons is a really nice tool.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but after installing Launcher Pro, how do I access it? I cannot find it under programs or anything, and when I press on the home button I get the same reaction as before installing it. I am really confused!

Go into 'manage applications' settings and select launcherpro. Now select 'set launcher as default'. Download 'home switcher' if you want to switch between launchers easier.

^ kilroy - where can we grab that circular battery icon in the task bar? Or is it a standard feature of stock FroYo?

Hi. Do you need a separate application to implement those or would folder/app organiser do? Thanks!
Took me a while to figure this out, but if you go to Folder Organizer, click on the change icon button, there is a choice of four - Default Icons, Android Image Gallery, AndExplorer, Icon Packs.

You'll need to install AndExplorer, unzip the the icon packs, and then choose them. It's not nearly as elegant as using Icon Packs (you don't get previews, for instance). What I would suggest is to have the icons open on your computer while you're assigning it, so you can get that preview and not simply guess while assigning icons.

If anything, I like the Unity Icon Pack, though I might consider changing if I find a better one (really want a clean one that isn't too minimalist).

I've never used AndExplorer to change my icons through Folder Organizer. It sounds as if it is making the process more difficult

If the file is zipped you can unzip it using Astro (or similar) or connect to your PC and do it from there.

Then when you want to choose an icon to change you select Android Image Gallery from the options. It then gives you a choice of Astro or Photos to preview images of all of them. You can use either but I prefer the Photos option as the preview images are much larger.

Ok Here's mine after having my first Android phone for almost a week. I have kept in simple and only posted my Home screen to give you some idea
