Sideloading coming to the Inspire :-)

still haven't received this update at all.. :(
I live in Mechanicsburg, PA outside of Harrisburg.
that's okay.. guess it can wait & I can be patient. I already got my angry birds rio update through the marketplace *finally!!*

No Update for me (in Philly) yet....i contacted AT&T customer services and they said they are not purposely responsible for pushing this specific update out...but HTC is..which probably explains why there's no need to check the "system software updates"....patiently waiting!

I am always last to get all these fun updates, lol... I haven't got it yet, I am kinda wondering IF I'll get it because I am visiting the fam out in the sticks, and I have hardly any service, maybe every so often I get one bar... but most of the time nothing..

Does anyone know if this specific OTA update has a deadline?....i read somewhere where somebody mentioned the 23rd(Today lol)....still patiently waiting:rolleyes:

I still haven't received the update yet.

I just posted on the HTC support forums asking why some people have yet to receive the update, we'll see what the response is.

Yeah, I haven't received it yet... I remember hearing the 23rd too and something about calling att after that point and they will send it to you or a link or something.

I called att yesterday morning and they had no idea what I was talking about. Maybe try again tomorrow if no word is updated here

Yeah i contacted ATT as well and they immediately directed me to contact HTC instead....stating they do not have anything to do with the OTA update....which i find very hard to believe....i understand they had to agree and get the OK with HTC...but why would HTC be physically the ones pushing the OTA update if ATT is my carrier.

i contacted HTC...and the only response they could give me is "Wait for the OTA update...it's coming to everyone who operates these specific devices"....i've waited long enough lol

I got tired of waiting and did the temporary root from the other thread to permanently enable sideloading. It worked flawlessly and now I've installed all of the free apps I've been getting with the Amazon app store and they work great. :D

Do you have a link ? :) I can't seem to find it ...

so I contacted AT&T today and got somebody who actually knew what they were talking about, he said they are having a lot of problems getting the remaining people their updates. He tried to manually push it to my phone and that didn't work and then he went to open a ticket when he found out there is a special "team" working on it right now and that EVERYBODY will have it by 2pm eastern time, so I suppose I will wait around to see if that happens, and if not then I will be calling back....

Hmmm.... past 2p.m. eastern time and still not here. The way they made the update going to peoples phones completely random is the dumbest thing ever. Couldn't they have just let us manually get it or download it off of their website? I'm sure there is many other ways they could have given us the update than just sent randomly to every phone. What's worse is that you can't really even find anything on the HTC or ATT website that even mentions this update. And don't even get me started about how they are going to take forever to get the next android update for our phones.

well I've been on tech support since 2:30 loll.. its 4:00 now, the first guy tried everything possible and told me to contact warranty support to get a new phone sent out, so I contacted warranty support that guy told me we had to start over the troubleshooting, I've done this shit 3 times today, after all that he tells me NO SUCH UPDATE EXISTS. are you kidding me!? These people are so stupid I can't handle it. I am making up this update... making it up! I've really had it, I don't care about the damn update anymore..

LOL what a mess. How do they not know about this? I doubt I'm ever going to get it.

wow...oh well eff it lol...i'll just wait for the next "supposely" 4g model that will have it already installed(not the Infuse) smh

Got it in San Diego... don't know how long that check box has been there though.

Hmmm... it's switched on now, but their app refuses to load, "installation unsuccessful."

[edit]
Okay, got the app installed, during download WIFI has to be enabled (even though it only took about 3 seconds...)

is there a way to manually check for the app? i always go to Check for AT&T software update and i keep getting the "Server Unavailable" message.
