Are Moto Droid phones only cdma type? Our will there be an unlocked gsm version too?
I'm needing options in case the Moto X keeps its tease going.

Moto X (Verizon version) and Moto Droid phones will both definitely be CDMA, and probably also have 4G LTE radios. Sometimes, Droid phones will have a global option, meaning it will have a GSM slot. If you need it to be unlocked, I think you just have to ask Verizon and they'll do it for free. It's a total mystery whether Moto X phones will have GSM.
Could definitely be wrong, but I believe only the Droids with slide out KBs (since the D2G) have been able to roam on GSM networks (usually only outside of the US).
Google’s Motorola is preparing something huge - a cutting edge smartphone that will be even more affordable than the Nexus 4. Last year Google introduced the Nexus 4 at prices starting at $300 (300 euro), and it was a small revolution as it offered the same hardware at half the price of other smartphones.
Now, Motorola could lower the price even further for its upcoming flagship, down to 250 euro (that should translate to around $250 in the States). We are talking off contract price here and the full freedom off carriers that comes with it.
The Motorola Moto X will allegedly be Motorola’s key device in North America where it fights the Apple iPhone, while in Europe the company will have a Nexus-like device under a different name, according to sources inside carriers. The information comes from Spanish publication ADSL Zone.
Note how the placement of the speaker on those three cases is on the opposite side of than where the speaker is located on the dual SIM model. That could indicate that there will be some physical changes between the two variations of the phone, besides the second SIM tray.
When it says Droid, that's specific to Verizon - cdma.
Not uncommon to see the same thing without the Droid branding available for gsm, for example see -

I wonder how much Uncle George made off the Droid licensing... enough to put his kids through college, I imagine...
Anyway, I WANT A NEW PHONE! And now I'm stuck: Moto X when it comes out, or wait for this mysterious Nexus thing? But then if this mysterious Nexus thing doesn't run on Verizon, the Moto X will be 6 months old then. Cheaper but older. Might as well wait at that point for the NEXT thing.
What would YOU do?
Others have been winning with a specs war.
What happened with PCs?
Unless you have special needs, you can get phenomenonal power for cheep.
Or still pay more and get better.
What's the big driver in the demand curve? Price.
Looking to me like Motorola has stepped right up to the plate on price.
On a phone that however narrowly is besting last year's models in some areas.
A few months ago I thought that I wanted the Moto X to take the game up a notch on the specs.
I'm now seeing that the game just got real.
Yes, right?
Plus add in the comparison on reception and build quality complaints overall compared to traditional Motorola results.
If those two areas stay high, they've likely nailed it.
