The (maybe) "Epic" Motorola X Pre-Release Thread

Ordered mine this morning as part of the selection of early purchasers allowed by AT&T. Scheduled to arrive in 8 days...not 4.

Mine is in 7 days August 26th. Not sure that's a good way to get word of mouth started by having a delay in the oft advertised turnaround time so soon. Didn't see any mention of the free Skip accessory that we're supposed to get either.

Oh wow that is not good. What is the point if you are not getting it in 4 days. I don't want to have to wait any longer than I have to. That is going to make for some really unhappy people.

I'm guessing it's to give the factory time to work out issues with full scale production. Congrats, your phones are guinea pigs! ;)

Agree that they will have issues to work out, but what is the point of letting people do it early and completely fail?

I called my local AT&T store and they said they should receive the phones on Thursday but they were unsure if they would get 16gb and 32gb.

My understanding is the 32 is only available through the Moto Maker site that's why the other carries are only getting the 16gb to begin with

My guess is this, you're getting to order early, they never said you'd get it early. I would guess it's really just a chance for them to see how the online ordering process is working and work out the kinks prior to the perceived rush come Friday morning. Your phones will ship Friday just like everyone's.

I was under the impression it would be in my hands on Friday, just like everyone at the store.

Odd that you would get it potentially after store release. Obviously you got to use Moto Maker, but you would think they would do their best to get the device in your hands first as part of the perk.

Ya I was kinda thinking the same thing. Would hate for those of us having to wait til Friday to even order have to wait 8 days.

Yeah that is what I have read so far, but better safe than sorry. Heck reading on AT&T doesn't state one way or the other, so I will just keep checking.

So does anyone have a link that we can see motomaker early to play with the combinations? Did motomaker work good for everyone that's already used it?

Again, they may indeed get them early (er) than the masses. Their order is placed. But I highly doubt that they would have it Friday (or sooner).

Some have been told 8 days and some earlier, no? I guarantee that anyone ordering Friday will not see the phone before next Thursday. (4 business days) Ok there might be a few in TX, LA, OK, NM ... but the rest of the country ... prolly next Thursday.

That is my guess anyway.

PLUS - anyone on any carrier (except VZ) can go get it Friday, in black or white with 16 GB storage. That's not Motomaker and it's not 32GB and it's not custom and cool and exclusive. :D

Not sure if this is permanent, but I noticed I couldn't add a signature to the back of the phone as advertised. I thought my wife might want to do that, I didn't, so I called and the rep said that Motorola has removed that feature from Moto Maker. Take it for what it's worth, but it appears no custom engravings.

EDIT: The rep also checked on my order status for the phone I already purchased and said it should be to me in 4 business days...aka Friday.

Just want to state this: I ordered mine today and my delivery date isn't until next Monday.

Not even the huge rush from everyone purchasing on Friday. At least I have my 32 GB version on the way. :)

Also: You all will be able to buy this through Motomaker full retail price. Only for ATT, so enjoy.

I was going to say I hate you(just jealous), but you don't even get it early, which stinks. I am hoping you get yours early though man, I cannot wait for Friday.

I'm still debating if I need 32gb version or not. decisions, decisions

I find this slightly interesting:

The Droid Ultra has a 5.0" screen vs the Moto X 4.7" and a 2130mAh battery vs the Moto X 2200mAh battery. Larger screen, smaller battery...translates to an estimated 4 hours MORE battery life for the Ultra? Same internals, bigger screen, smaller battery, better battery life. LOLZ Verizon snookering people.
