Root The Official "I can't get my NC to root" thread

My device has 1.1.0 and I ran AutoNooter 3.0. Everything seemed to go fine until I had to sign into YouTube. I click the SoftKey and hit Menu and nothing happens. I can hit Home and the X just fine, but Menu does nothing. Menu doesn't work on any application apparently, including GMail.

There's also a menu button at the bottom of the app, but hitting that does nothing as well.

Not a stupid question, just a stupid user! Yeah, rebooting it fixed it. But, I couldn't use the power button to power it back on, I had to plug the USB cable back in for it to power on. Is that normal?

Well, plugging the USB cable in will cause the NC to power on (it's kind of annoying at times LOL). But pressing and holding the power button for about 2-3 seconds should power the unit on :confused:
 
OK, I don't think the directions are very hard but I CANNOT use a card reader in my PC... is there anyway for me to root or load 2.2 on my Nook possibly just leaving the SD in my powered on Nook? Similar to rooting an Android smartphone?
 
[FONT=&quot]I bought a Nook Color e-reader after reading online that you could root the device and essentially turn it into a tablet that ran the Android 3.0 system. So I followed the steps to root this thing last night, but I'm getting an error message when I try to write onto my microSD card.

So I finally rooted my phone after what seemed like ages, and I'm trying to put the Honeycomb ROM on it by using ClockworkMod. I followed instructions and clicked "Reboot into Recovery" into Clockwork Mod Recovery (version 3.0.1.0) to get the black and orange screen that you control using the volume buttons. From there I scroll down to "Backup and Restore" and click "backup". It looks like its working...it says:

SD Card space free: 7432MB
Backing up boot.....
Backing up system.....
Can't mount /system!

What's wrong? Does anyone know how to do it properly? The instructional video I was following on unLockr.com had no problems.
