Funny I had the same problem yesterday never did figure out why. I have flashed a recovery before this way but coipd not get it to work Even when I navigated to the file there it was butt te would always say it could not find it.... I wound up just doing it through bootloader.

Its only the recovery.img file. I unzipped on pc n saved img on root od sd

4) Extract recovery.img from the PC36IMG.zip for the recovery you want
5) Copy recovery.img to the root of your sdcard
6) From the terminal type:

su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

Once you reboot into recovery, you'll have whatever recovery you just flashed. Note that steps one and two only have to be done once.

Hopefully you have a custom rom with flash_image recovery already on it...

I typed that into terminal emulator and it says file not found. I know for sure that recovery.img is saved to the root of my SD card.

I just tried in another emulator I just downloaded and it comes back permission denied.

just reinstalled ROM Manager and went into settings. Its set by defualt to version 2.5.0.7. when I looked in all clockworkmod recoveries that was radio buttoned.

can you explain in a bit more detail on the flash part? I saved it to root, the whole zip. rebooted into recovery. installed zip from SD, and it failed.

my dumb ass left .zip on the file. Just deleted in in Astro. was that the issue?

If it had two zips on it...might be in amend script in which case you can't flash it.

i have file extensions showing, helps me find certain types of files easier visually.

it only had .zip at the end. i removed it.

when u said flash it in recovery, I do just the same as if Im flashing a new ROM, right? Thats what I did.

just flashed in in the GUI for ROM Mananger, rebooted & installed on boot screen now...

now rolling mikfroyo boot screen!

went into Astro, and into system folder, bin folder, no file named flash image or anything close to it.

If you do not, extract the one from the zip and paste it into system/bin. Change the permissions to read write execute, read execute, read execute, then reboot

Your recovery is sucking lol. It didn't flash the file you just told it to...or it would have been there
