Root uggh!!! Need help!!

No a full wipe won't affect anything as long as you don't wipe sd card. In recovery Wipe boot, system, data, and cache and try to restore, technically it shouldn't matter but extreme says he had seen issued first hand so it's worth a try.

Let me know when you are ready to flash amon ra...after this though because you can't restore the cw back up in amon ra
 
Yo did you try putting the recovery file in caps... PC36IMG.zip. I had a issue a while back that that was to only way i could get a PC36 file in hboot to take. Weird I know but try it.

O wait this was not in the rooting for dummies guide. I think it should be cause just in the 3 or so months I have been around..........( HIDE KNOWN FILE EXTENTIONS I wonder what that does ) ( I WONDER IF I CAN GOOGLE IT ) LMAO. I have see this at least 10 times

Lol that seems like too many zeroes :) ok it backs up everything so I don't really see wiping before a restore doing much but go ahead... stranger things have happened...

Also with that version you may get install aborted on some roms because they are written in a diff script. Just FYI
 
yeah I read about flashing back to a slightly older version of CM, 2.6 something when flashing different ROMs.

Well I am having no luck doing a backup successfully. I have flashed, reset up the phone the way I want it, saved only to find out the backup didnt work & have to do it all over again, 3 times now. What am I doing wrong during backup? I have tried doing the backup through the GUI for ROM Manager, where it reboots etc.

I have tried booting into Recovery and creating a back from there. Neither method has worked.

I was also going to install, via an emulator, the RA Recovery, but now my phone isnt being recognized on my pc?!?!
 
Im really getting frustrated. I again couldnt get a successful backup. I did a factory reset/wipe & then formatted data & cache, after wiping cache. rebooted into recovery and tried to install backup, now stuck on the 1st screen u see when you reboot. I have a feeling that I will end up having to flash MIKIFroyo AGAIN! and start from scratch AGAIN! I am really perplexed as to why I can not create a good backup & I can not restore to previously good backups.

help?

yes but I cant install from Hboot as my volume button is bad. can I install from a emulator? I thought I saw where you said that could be done.

I have the PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip file.

Yup do you have terminal emulator on your phone? You can get it in the market, is by Jack something. Pull the .img file from the zip and place it on the root of your sd card named recovery.img let me know when you get this far...

I'm drinking so it's all good... open terminal and type su then hit enter and grant it super user permission when it asks... then type which flash image and hit enter, let me know what it says..
 
I typed: which flash_image i also tried ecovery.img as thats the name of the file. I actually type the word which ?
