[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

I'm tired of wiping. I've had to wipe every one of the last 5 or 6 builds of AOSP. If I don't, weather and toggle widgets (flip clock) FC's, telepathic caller loses all my recent calls, Google Search quits working, and I lose all my contacts. Everything works fine after a wipe until a new build comes out.

Today I wiped cache and Dalvik cache, flashed B35 over m5 and had the same issue so I restored my backup.

This is getting old....

Opening contacts, exporting contacts to sdcard, flashing m5 again and importing them, seems to helped a lot. Then I flashed b35, still had contacts, and managed to get everything going again. :D

Support the devs and buy a theme ;)

New Hooolm circle mod theme added

I'm so happy I bought all of sonny's CM7 themes way back when and that carries over to these CM9 themes as well!

I was running B35 in a BootManager slot. I took it out because inverting Google Play broke it and I want to reload it and try again. It worked in the Phone Rom Inverted and in B35 slot until I inverted it. It did not break in the phone ROM. None of the usual fixed it. I'll try again and check for a more current phonesky.apk.

Is Nova Launcher Bloat Ware? One of the first things I do is freeze it in TBU. I could not find it in the list to freeze or uninstall. I did not look in Apps to see if it could be disabled. I will when I reload it in the slot.

The circles Mod is sweeeet. There's a bug with the toggles for me, however. Just emailed Hoolm and I'll see what he says. By the way, it isn't a bug that makes it unusable it just didn't change the toggles to circles like it did in the screen shots. Still highly recommend. I dig the circle icons so much more.

Did you reboot after applying the theme? Try it. The theme chooser engine was never 100% perfect on CM7 I certainly don't think it will be on the GN....yet at least ;)

I like the new Sense 4 recents window style. Also, new options in the SMS app to hide the notification sender and message for privacy.

2 very cool new features especially the sms privacy. I love the way the sense recents looks, but it's so big you can only see 2 recents and takes up too much room. show is purdy tho :p

Oh...1 more point concerning the theme chooser. You won't have to do this always, but I strongly recommend it --> reboot after applying a theme :D

As its been on past builds. Gawh there will be hundreds of folks thinking this is broken. I know the devs are kicking themselves that having mtp on was missed lol.

How do we enable MTP again?

/me forgot. :o

*Runs away screaming from thread.*

Forgive me for asking such a question - but I've never Theme'd before. I'm thinking of running Black Exodus. If I don't like it and return to the default theme, do I have to set everything back up as if I had just installed?

I would think all I would have to do is a backup but there was a post here or in another forum that indicated that some things would be changed that could only be changed back if I reinstalled the original theme....that can't be right the way ya'll are switching back & forth.

I just don't want to have to go through setting up from scratch again, especially my contacts. Before I rooted, contacts seemed much easier to 'merge' from one account to the next. With AOKP, it took me like 10x longer because the 'join' feature didn't work very well.

Question folks.

Is there any way to speed up the animations from going in and out of the app drawer with AOKP? Ive run other roms where this has been optimized for speed, but AOKP still lags a bit.

Thanks.

Yes I did. I emailed him and he said that the toggles aren't circular on AOKP yet, only on CM9. So something for everyone to keep in mind, though themes for CM9 will work, there are differences between AOKP and CM9 and therefore not everything may be properly/fully themed on both, depending on what ROM the developer actually made it for.

The most frustrating thing about this ROM is that when 3G/4G isn't connected (JuiceDefender has shut it down) and I turn my phone back on, even if I manually turn it back on it will not reconnect. I have to reboot my phone to get a 3G/4G connection almost every time. Any help?

I'm running 4.0.4 Milestone 5 with 3.0.29-tuna-faux123-016+ (stock kernel).

No worries! Settings> storage> menu button bottom right corner> profit =)

Never worry about asking questions :)

Depends. What ROM (version) are you presently running?

Are you using Nova? I don't, too clunky. If you are on Nova I'm pretty sure the 1.1.3 beta version is out that allows animation speed control. Otherwise, in this OP I've linked to the Trebuchet launcher. Fastest smoothest launcher by far. Just not many bells and whistles.

Great point and appreciate you pointing this out!

Personally I think JD, especially on a rooted phone, is unnecessary. So you say it's the "ROM" causing this behavior? Sounds more like a JD issue. Have you tried another ROM and did not experience this issue?

aokp m5, b34

Which one are you running both, using boot manager?

If you install any of the themes listed in the OP that are under the title "For other builds/milestones: **Note: these are flashed in CWM:" , you must flash them in CWM (clockworkmod recovery). If you are running B35 then you can use the Theme Chooser app that is pre-installed in the ROM and change themes "on-the-fly." These themes are applied while your looking at your phone and it is powered on vs flashing themes in CWM.

Only B35 can use the themes listed in the OP that are for the theme chooser.

If you decide to flash one of the themes that are for B34, M5, and everything PRIOR (aka "For other builds/milestones: **Note: these are flashed in CWM:" ) to those versions, make a backup before you flash the theme. If you want to go back and don't like the theme just restore your backup.

If I were you I'd make a backup every time you want to flash something new like a theme, mod, kernel, ROM, etc... That way you can always rescue yourself instead of depending on others to rescue you, although we don't mind throwing out a life preserver every now and then :D
