[Verizon] [rom]jbsourcery v5.4-lte[06/07/13] jb4.2.2 The Final Call

Folks,

Let's not badger the developers. There are questions flying around here that are newb based rather than bug based. Please phrase your questions with grace and respect. If they get bordering on rude, I'll delete and perhaps infract. Thanks!

Hello,

(1) As for the LED controls, I enabled for the 'email application' a color and in the application enabled to receive notifications through the notification status. Every time I receive an email, I don't receive the notification.

(2) Also, how can I enable LED for missed calls, voicemail, charged battery, charging battery, etc.- Extra features that Light Flow supports.

(3) Battery is charging very slow. Does this require time for the ROM to settle in, 72 hours?

(4) Have been receiving a notification every time I send text messages, to deny or allow sending of large amounts of texts.

(1) did you set up email or gmail and is it that difference? let me know.

(2)The led we implemented is so people can use light flow when we did a more complete version(cm) nothing but complaints about i want to use light flow so this is what we went with. at this time you cant implement for missed calls.

(3)i have had no battery charging issues at all. so not sure on that one

(4)goto settings of mms and turn off the notificaiton. there is a setting for this and i dont see this hapening so id say toggle that setting. also settings in thre for message size limits and such this may be the fix of your issue.

Has anyone used the "zipalign applications" option in the Tools menu in this ROM? It totally broke everything by killing the System UI when I did it. After a few reboots, it would never give me my nav/notification bar back, so I had to wipe/restore. No biggie. I'm happy with it now, I'm just wondering if anyone uses that feature and what difference it should make.

cant reproduce here but well keep trying.

Thanks a lot for posting and providing feedback, Chizzele!

Small question/request; do you all plan to (or could you) add the option in the Toggles menu to have both toggle switches and toggle button widgets? It was my favorite setup in Liquids ICS ROMs to have 6 or so clickable widgets at the top of the status bar, then a few more toggle switches below that for some other things (so I didn't have to scroll left/right to find more toggle buttons). Also, I would love to see the option for a visible brightness slider in the notification bar besides just the invisible slider like you have now.

No big deal, just really minor requests. JBSourcery is still the best ROM I've had so far! Keep up the outstanding work ;).

the brightness slider is in version 2.0 has to be turned on in magic control center

I hope this hasn't already been discussed, but how do we get the usb fast charge toggle to work? I keep pushing on the toggle but it does not respond. I do not see any other options within the ROM to enable fast charge...??

Thanks in advance!

stock kernel doesnt support install a kernel that does

I don't know why (and I'm sorry if its been reported) but I get a battery looking icon on my Back Button when typing. And a smaller one for menus. Is that supposed to happen?

Yes this issues is know and fixed in upcoming update. it was caused by adding back the down arrow when using keyboard , had been requested, i just didnt see the repercussions of it and still not sure why it causes so much havoc.

Thanks to those going through the growing pains. everything was perfect in ICS and we are working on making it the same with JB.

Thanks for using sourcery.

Switching from Franco M5 kernel to LeanKernel 4.3. Franco has never worked well on my phone so not really sure why I tried it lol

You guys have done an indescribably amazing job getting it as stable and rich as it is out of the box, and the support is just awesome! Thank YOU guys for putting out such a great package! I for one, am SO glad this was the first ROM I went with. It'll be the last I ever need!

I think Doc was meaning an error message given when sending a lot of texts, rather than large size per text. Say if they wanted to send to a group of people, or something. I remember seeing someone having that before, when I get home in a couple hours I'll see what I can find more about that one.

+1 on what I said about the help and support. You guys rock!!

(I couldn't speak it myself, since I've never run into that message myself. Just trying to help clarify/answer for others)

The fact that you all answer our questions and give real info and are not condescending goes a long way. I happily donated because I know you all have lives outside of this and give us a lot of your time, effort and knowledge.

Hello Eagle1967,

(1) I use Gmail separately and I use my other email via the email application. However, I am not informed of notifications via the system.

(2) Sounds good, the LED controls are working. I will test Light Flow to gain the other notifications. Will I need to turn one or the other off?

(3) On CNA, after 72 hours, my battery charged super fast. However, currently, I am having super slow charging. Should I try a kernel? Sometimes my battery charger when pulled out does make a squeaky noise.

(4) The mms messaging limit is set to 1000 messages per conversation. Where do I turn off the mms notification again? Mine is actually on to notify me of mms through the system. Sorry, couldn't find it.

Thank you for your time, appreciate it.

Hi,

Yes, exactly, that's what have been seeing. A message telling me too many texts are being sent and whether it should deny or allow. I don't even send many texts at once.

Quoting your original for sake of rememberence.

I haven't played with my LEDs yet. Right out of the box, I was getting Blue LEDs for texts and Green for other alerts. I haven't looked farther for that yet.

Battery shouldn't take much to settle in. I was able to charge right away. What kind of cord are you using? Using the stock kernel? How long is it taking your phone to charge? Also, do you have anything running in the background while charging that would slow it down? (media, syncing, etc)

I remember seeing someone else post about it, but I didn't bookmark the thread to see what they might have found as a resolution. I think it was something about the number of texts within a certain period of time was triggering it. I'm at work though, so I don't have much time to search for more on it. Try a forum search about the error though, see what comes up.

Hi,

I am using the stock kernel and the stock battery cord. Charging takes like forever. Same with CNA, however, CNA charged fast after 72 hours. My battery cord does make a squeaky noise if it's not connected to my phone and connected to the wall unit. I am running Lookout Anti virus Security.

Also, I have been getting slight dropped calls at home and while on the phone, the initial call cuts quality of call. My signal quality is close to zero. The maximum bars, I ever had was 2 at home and in other areas 2. I wish I had full bars. Am I supposed to contact VZW for this or is it because of Jelly Bean?

Do you by chance have another charger you could try? I know it sounds weird, but some people have had better luck with some chargers than others. I've actually had 2 chargers that have just stopped charging my Nexus altogether, however others seem to work fine. it almost sounds like your phone is thinking that it's charging via USB instead of AC power. That could be tested by using a different kernel that supports FastCharge.

As for your calls...I know that recently one of the fixes for the Nexus was in how the signal strength was reported. Were you experiencing the call drops before rooting as well? It may be that the strength is still the same, but the phone isn't reporting it as the same number of bars now, if that makes sense. If it's only since rooting, I think I would try going back to a stock ROM, then doing a fresh wipe and reload Sourcery back on. I haven't noticed any difference in actual call strength and quality in my travels from stock 4.0.4 to JB.

Just got home, so I'll see what I can find out about the messaging prompt. In skimming earlier, it almost sounded like it was a coding thing that was triggering the warning as a measure to prevent spam messaging being sent out (mass messages). In that, are you using the stock messaging app, or a third party one like Handcent or Go SMS?

I have had charging issues when not using the OEM charger provided with the phone, trying a different cord is worth it if you have one accessible. Another thing to consider, since this phone was released there have been plenty of users that had to replace the phone because of built in charging port issues.

As far as your signal issues... have you flashed updated radios recently..?

Loving this ROM up, but thought I'd mention that my torch toggle only works one half to one third of the time. Certainly no deal breaker, but just thought I'd mention. Thanks.

Hmmm... Mine works 100 percent of the time. The Oooooly time my flashlight toggle didn't work was when I hadn't yet given the toolbox super user rights. Hope it help? :)

Torch is somewhat kernel related as well... some have reported flawless torch experience running trinity kernel..

I am flabbergasted at all the tweaks in this ROM!. And to think I was going to get work done this weekend...

Is there a way to change the DPI? I like the extra real estate 241 gives me.

Thanks!

Hello,

(1) I actually don't have another phone cord to try out. However, I can try another kernel and see if the charging situation clears up. Franco or lean kernel, are those two working great with JB Sourcery? It is strange how once I pull out the battery cord from my phone, it makes a squeaky noise, the cord makes the noise. I end up removing the cord from my outlet to silence the noise.

(2) My signals were the same since my phone was stock or unlocked/rooted on ICS AOKP B40. Once I flashed JB with CNA and JB Sourcery, I got the dropped calls and low signal. In fact, I had no signal at a mall today. I remember when I had ICS I had flashed a new radio file. Was I supposed to flash that same radio file when coming clean from ICS to JB?
I think I want to give a shot of bringing phone back to stock and then flashing JB, can you please tell me how I can do so and any special instructions so I don't go into a boot loop?

(3) As far as the messaging, I am using the stock messenger. However, that notification I get, I have a feeling it can be a system UI issue because a few applications I open, close down on me or failure to open.

Thanks for helping me. I appreciate it.

Hello,

Do you know how VZW would give me a new Gnexus? I am under contract but never purchased warranty nor filled out any warranty cards with Samsung. I did purchase brand new through VZW.

Yes, I have flashed updated radios when I was on ICS AOKP B40, but never flashed a new radio when coming to JB Sourcery. Was I supposed to? I just did a clean wipe.

Thanks for your support.

Hi Steven,
Are you referring to sourcery tools being granted super user rights? Because that's been done on my phone for sure. Thanks.

OK, sorry for the really dumb questions but I can't figure these out and googling hasn't heklped... I clean installed, and flashed justinbean's inverted gapps.

I'm trying to set up custom navbar buttons and want one to be the phone. I can't find it -- not in the stock options, not in "custom application," nor in "applications." I know it's there somewhere, because I can dial from my contacts. Where is it?

Am I also missing something about the "Toggle Widgets?" It doesn't seem to do anything. AOKP ICS had an area where you define the widgets, and I don't see that, so I'm guessing it's a placeholder? (Or, more likely, I'm looking in the wrong place)

Thanks again!
