[Verizon] [rom]jbsourcery v5.4-lte[06/07/13] jb4.2.2 The Final Call

May not be there place to ask for details on this, but can anyone outline the details for changing over from CWM to TWRP? Thanks!

1. get the goomanager app from the play store
2. hit menu
3. click "install openrecoveryscript"
4. profit

This method will replace my CWM recovery then? So when i reboot into recovery, it will then automatically launch into TWRP? Thanks again

OK. I did this. Stayed with CWM for now and had no problem flashing Sourcery and gapps. Now that I've had a few hours to play around with it, all I can say is, dayum. It's gonna take me weeks to go through all the possible customization. Love this stuff!

I used to try out different ROMs a lot on my Dinc. Never did find one I liked all that much. Have only tried a couple on the Gnex. Really didn't see the big deal with Cyanogen, though I know a lot of people think it's great. Just not my style, I guess.

So now, it's a day later after going Sourcery. I can honestly say now that this will be my daily driver from now on. I've got the phone where I want it now for the most part, though there's still a ton of stuff to go through.

Thanks to Team Sourcery! I'm not going back. You have another convert!

Honestly, IMHO, I would rather see Sourcery try to implement the few new features that 4.2 has fully into a 4.1.2 rom, sans user accounts/profiles. I see no advantage in 4.2 with its implementation of added user profiles on our devices. Our devices, i.e. our smartphone and/or tablet IMHO are (or should be) very personal devices and IMHO there is no need to have to have the same type of different user accounts that a desktop experience seems to need to provide.

Just my peso's worth.

+1to this. Add in the new quick toggle features and the other minor goodies and call it a day

And I want to add. I'm still on JBS2.4. I've explored others but this seems to be the best and most stable for me.

3.2 is a very stable release as well with many more features implemented.. But of course.. if it aint broken don't fix it... if 2.4 works, it works :smokingsomb:

on your next install.. dont use TIBU and let market restore apps. see if you get a connection in maps. I always do and I only restore game data, no apps or other data using it.

Seems everyone having odd issues that TIBU is at the root of the issue, could be coincidence.

Okay, so I got tired of having broken GPS, so I reflashed 3.2 with the above recommendation the other day and GPS was still broken. But I think I know why; I flashed the wrong G-apps. I tried a different G-apps zip that I had on my phone and it works fine now. I can't remember now which one I used, but I have a zip named "JBSourceryGappsV2.zip (with a file date of Nov 12) and gapps-jb-20121012-JZ054K.zip. I only get my Gapps from the sorcery tools menu within the ROM, so I'm not sure which one is the right Gapps.

But at least it's working now. The only issue I have now is that it seems that I have an older version of the G-mail app; before I fixed my GPS issue, I was able to swipe to delete and pinch-to-zoom within Gmail, now that functionality is gone. There's no update in the Play Store, it says I'm on the newest version (4.1.2 at the moment). Anyone know what's up with that?

Thanks again!

Try enabling in the gmail general settings-auto fit messages.... That's what fixed it for me! Good luck and glad to know GPS is working now!

Under General settings there should be an option to turn on auto fit. This allows you to pinch and zoom

Edit..just checked and my gmail is version 4.2. I am using Roman's gapps from goo manager.

I've got 3.2 on my phone and keep saying I'm going to update to it, but like you said ^^^. And when I said explored others I meant, 'shudder', other peoples roms.
