[Verizon] [ROM]JDX (formerly Jelly Belly) AOSP+ - v15 (7/28)

Nova is working fine for me. Seems just as fast as stock launcher. There are some nova settings you can tweak to actually make it faster than stock.

Guys,

Don't flash JB using touch cwm. If you have problems, go into bootloader and flash a different recovery, then go through the process again.

I got stuck for an hour until I did this.

Wait, what? I just flashed this no problem with cwm touch....

Initial thoughts on JB:

Mother of God.

Sweet Jesus.

"I would re-up everytime....because this shit...is THOUROUGHLY...good." - Lewis C.K.

Yeah, no regrets within the first 5 minutes....holy crap.

Anyone on the fence about doing it, or waiting - Let me ask you this:

Do you like the feeling of owning a new phone?

This is by far the most impressive update I have ever flashed/received in my entire 3 year android relationship.

I along with many many others have flashed JB using 5.8.0.2 touch recovery. I don't understand why some have had troubles, but i do not believe that 5.8.0.2 is the cause. This is truly a case of YMMV and everyone should use what they feel most comfortable with. Anyone could run into any issue no matter which recovery they are using. I do however appreciate your advice and am grateful for it :)

I dunno. Seems as if there are still to many issues with JB. I may just wait.

Trooper, taking the Venir ROM out of the equation: what issues, exactly, are you referring to? I have virtually no issues with this thing, other than limited BT range (only affects me outside anyway).

This sums up JB perfectly. It's like you're getting a new phone all over again.

The main reason I rooted was to eliminate the nav buttons. JB is so good, I'll put up with the nav buttons until there's an AOKP/Liquid version. It's that good.

If you're careful and patient, I don't see a problem. When you're on the lock screen for 5+ minutes, be patient!!! :D

I also use CWM touch without a problem and that's through... oh heck... 5 or 6 variants of JB.

Just for disclosure's sake, I had one random reboot when I was on... 1.5 I think?

Oh for the love of god, these new voice search features are unreal... In a complete and unbias opinion, literally destroys Apple's Siri.

Take that with a grain of salt for reading it on an Android webiste...but I have 5...actually 4 co-workers who won't give me back my phone right now all comparing it to their iPhone4s', and one disgruntled iPhone4 owner.

"You got that in an update? Why can't I get Siri on my iPhone4?!?!"

Why indeed, Lindsay...why indeed...

I think if people were to follow the instructions as they are written, fewer problems would be occurring. Most, if not all of the ROMs tell you to do this using CWR--nothing more, nothing less. Since a lot of this is still experimental, it would be wise to wipe everything (the normal stuff) before flashing something else.

I have two friends at work who have had every instance of the iPhone from #1 to the 4S. We have had a friendly rivalry for years now... they are complete Apple fan boys. One just bought a S3 last week and loves it, the other is buying the S3 on VZW when it releases.

I have a question and I hope it doesn't get buried on this thread. I used to have 1 bar of 4G at work which used to disappear as soon as I tried to use data etc. After installing JB 1.7, I now have 3-4 bars of 4G and works flawlessly. What I am trying to figure out is if they did something here in Parsippany, NJ or if it's the radios that are on JB that are a lot better than what I had before. If that is the case I don't want to lose them when Verizon comes with their own version.

No radios come with the JB version you flashed. The newer JB software might and probably does report your bars in a different way than your past ROM. However, if your getting way better 4G not only is that kick butt, but it also might be telling of your area and VZ's network. Either way, great to hear

For any one experiencing (posted this before so this is just a reminder) bad battery life, I've come to the conclusion that the kernel in Jelly Belly JB v1.6 (which is stock from Google but compiled with the linaro gcc toolchain) is as good if not better than my all time favorite ICS kernel franco M4. After a quick open of maps and allow the gps to lock upon boot up, this is the kind of sleep you should be seeing. And I've been hitting the phone pretty hard today all on 4G.

New 1% circle battery and fast softkey glow mod added to OP for jelly belly v1.6 & v1.7

Jelly Belly v1.8 to hit soon and it addresses the low volume (well it's the original volume levels that shipped with the GN "factory"). So, like newer AOKP builds and CM9 look for your old volume levels to be back to the way you like them, boosted!

edit: idk what the "fixed volume issue" is as the volume is not boosted in v1.8

I too have noticed an improvement with my signal strength.

Looks like I am waiting for 1.8! Thanks for the heads up good sir! :)

Has anybody tried Franco Kernels? I can't find any feed back on them. My battery life with the stock 1.7 is pretty bad.

It shouldn't be. Have you tried the deep sleep issue fix in the OP? I haven't tried any 3rd part kernels except for popcorn. I'm a franco user, but the stock kernel is so good I've forgone it so far. Of course feel free to try any of the 4 kernels listed in the OP. Of the 4, I've read the most positive comments out of the Trinity and Faux camps.
