[Verizon] [ROM]JDX (formerly Jelly Belly) AOSP+ - v15 (7/28)

Did you flash Gapps after the ROM?

Here is actually what I did.

  • Went to ROM Manager and Flashed
  • Factory reset and cleared everything else
  • Installed 2.2 zip file
  • Installed latest Gapps zip
  • Rebooted

Am I missing a step?

Go, what apps are missing?

ROM Manager, SU. But I guess that doesnt even matter because none of the apps work. I also noticed there are apps that I haven't even installed on the phone. Weird. But then again I'm a big noob. Appreciate any feedback!

Goo, I wouldn't do a thing in ROM Manager. The wipe may not be complete. Get a zip called Android Revolution Super Wipe and put it on your phone's memory, along with the ROM and gapps PROPER (7/4).

Here's my procedure for flashing Jelly Belly:

Make a nandroid of ICS, and then copy EVERYTHING YOU OWN to the PC as a backup... including your backups!

Boot into ClockworkMod from power-down.
Flash Super Wipe
Flash Jelly Belly 2.2
Flash gapps (the 7-4-2012 PROPER version)
Reboot.

Set up Android and stabilize the system.
If you want add-ons ( and you do ):

Power down the phone.
Boot into ClockworkMod from power-down.
Wipe cache and Dalvik
Flash 1% Circle Battery Mod
Flash Power Menu Reboot Mod
WIPE DALVIK CACHE AGAIN AFTER FLASHING!
Reboot.

Enjoy.

If you want any OTHER Mods, flash them in another CWM session. You don't want to flash them all at once.

EDITS are in bold. Sorry :o

What does it mean "Boot into ClockworkMod from power-down"?

Nevermind. I'm a idiot. Sorry about that very noob question. :)

Last question. Is there is link to "Android Revolution Super Wipe"? I can't find it. Or at least the latest version.

From complete power down, Goo, you need to hold both volume buttons AND the power button until you feel a quick vibrate. Use the volume buttons to arrow down to "Recovery" and hit Power to select it.

Do you have a way to flash back to stock if this goes wrong? I'd hate for you to be sitting on a brick all night

Goo, not be to mean, but how hard did you look? I mean, it literally took me 20 seconds on Google:

[ROM] Android Revolution HD 4.1.0 | High Quality & Performance | GSM | Legendary - xda-developers

Scroll down to DOWNLOADS and download "Super Wipe Lite"

Great Goo, I don't want to insult you at all and don't feel like I am... but I am concerned that maybe you haven't researched this whole rooting/ROMming thing enough to be comfortable with something going very, very wrong. If you are rooting/ROMming and are kind of learning as you go through it, I have to warn you:

You are playing with fire in a dynamite factory.

We're not there physically to help salvage your phone if it bricks. I mean, I'll help you as long as I am online, we all will. But I really want you to be comfortable with the process.

Are you studied up and ready for this? :)

EDIT: I hope I didn't chase him/her away. I really want as many great Androiders here as possible... I'm just trying to avoid a digital train wreck here :o

Thanks for your concern Champ. I'm all set on Jelly Bean now because of your help.

I'm trying to follow every post on that thread... and it's not easy! They're posting like crazy over there!

I know, and it looks as if the volume fix got ignored. I'm not signed up over there so I haven't posted about it. Just not sure what the deal is with this volume, it was supposed to be fixed since 1.8 but I haven't had any luck.

Yeah volume is still not fixed.

Obviously there is still no compelling reason for me to flash up to 2.2 from 1.9, EXCEPT that I don't want to get too many versions behind and have to wipe everything. This dirty flashing is kinda convenient, not losing my data and all :)

That's how I feel. I mean why not flash. Takes all of what, 10 minutes?

Well, based on YOUR advice, I'm waiting until tomorrow so you can put this thing through its paces and let us know what doesn't work.

If it's the same stuff that doesn't work on 1.9, then I'll flash away :)

Will do :)

Been great so far been on the phone since I flashed it. Snappy!

Is it me or are some of the Now features that I saw on JB demos not on 2.2? Also, the pull down notification doesn't have much to it.

OK, I just flashed JB 1.9 and got ready to flash gapps and forgot to copy them onto my sdcard. So, now I have my GNex with JB 1.9 and now I have gapps copied to my sdcard. Now, since I don't have play store installed, how can I get into ClockworkMod Touch Recovery to flash gapps?

Note: I have tried the Volume up + Volume down and then power and no good.

They're all there! In the OP are some tips to getting Now working correctly. The pull down noti will have more to it once you get Now set up ;)

Quick question. Can you flash a kernel after you flashed a ROM without losing anything?
Sure can, just wipe dalvik cache and flash kernel then reboot

Bear with me here...why do you need Play Store to be able to boot into recovery? I have to assume you mean RM or Rom Manager?

The method of booting into recovery by using the volume rocker and power button has to work. Make sure the volume buttons are depressed fully. Then, at the same time while holding the volume rocker down (both ways) push and hold the power button till phone vibrates. Let go of buttons. Navigate with volume rocker to "recovery" then select it with the power button. Let me know :)

I meant to be able to re-download Clockwork Recovery.

Is anyone else's DSP Manager not working and force closing? I saw reports of that on Rootz for a build or two ago and people said clear cache and data and that fixes. Tried that, and no luck, still force closing and not working. Anyone?
