[Verizon] [ROM]JDX (formerly Jelly Belly) AOSP+ - v15 (7/28)

Right now, I have no way of getting into recovery. The volume buttons + power do not work. No matter what combination I use when pressing the volume buttons it just brings up the volume control.

Is there another way to boot into recovery or clockwork recovery?

Go into CWR > Reboot Into Recovery.

Also, is anyone having issues with Google Now in 2.1? Doesn't seem to be picking up my voice as fast as it did with v1.4.

Just to set the record straight as there seems to be some confusion:

CWM = clockworkmod recovery (this is your recovery or it could be twrp is you use that).

RM = Rom Manager (used to boot into recovery (cwm) if you don't have a custom power menu)

Is anyone else's DSP Manager not working and force closing? I saw reports of that on Rootz for a build or two ago and people said clear cache and data and that fixes. Tried that, and no luck, still force closing and not working. Anyone?

Yup and some funny volume behavior when enabling the equalizer. 1st time it's happened to me had to try it when you posted.

Mine is AOK. Have you gone into it's settings to look at them? Hit the little microphone in the search bar on homescreen then look at bottom right menu 3 dots.

Yeah if someone is waiting and is still on 1.9 then I'd be more prone to waiting 24 hours or so till reports come in on it's stability.

I just flash it because I can. I was perfectly content with 1.9, the opportunity just arose ya know!

And tell Cap'n hi for me would ya ;)
Hi back Dan. Thanks for the advice. I'll sick with 1.9 for now.

System UI crashes with 2.2. Did a clean flash, too. Going back to 1.7. That was the most stable build for me.

Edit: And I tried installing 2.2 three times. Each time the phone booted up I got an immediate: Unfortunately your System UI has crashed, message. Not sure what the deal with that was, but I'm back on 1.7 and I had no issues whatsoever. I think I'll just stay here, though I am considering 1.9. A lot of folks are favoring that build, too.

Sounds good and good to see ya!

Wild stuff. Well glad your back on something you feel comfortable with.

Hey I just uninstalled DSP from jelly belly with root explorer and downloaded and installed this .zip (flash in cwm recovery) and it works perfect. I turned off the built in EQ (when in the music app) and use DSP now ;)

Wow, this thing is changing faster than I can reload the forums.

JBDan, are you keeping a consolidated change log anywhere? I'm still on 1.9 and debating whether or not to up it. But not sure what happened in 2.0 or 2.1.

Edit: Nevermind, just read one tab over where I have rootzwiki loaded and I see the differences clearly enumerated.

And the changelog is in the OP here as well

DSP is is the only issue I've found in 2.2 and I just pulled some 'mad scientist' and fixed it :p in post above ^

I flashed my first JB rom today, it was 2.2. I've gotten everything all set up and it's running well. Not as snappy as an AOKP rom for example, but similar to how my phone was stock. Got a few force close problems with apps but an app clear data fixed them all. 4G, 3G, wifi, SMS, MMS, phone are working normally. Google Now (voice search) is the best I've seen on any phone. I can talk completely normally, no slow or over enunciatiing like it was on all my 4.04 ROMS. Haven't had time to build up any cards yet.

What did you do/use to uninstall it? Every time I try with TiBu the screen freezes up

Good Morning Jelly Beaners! :D

You know, JBDan, I'm reading the comments on that DSP zip and a lot of people are logging it as a fail. I'm interested in what the consensus is in here on it... especially the 1.9-2.2 dirty flashers.

Almost ready to flash 2.2, waiting on the green light! :)

EDIT: From Jake Day, the Jelly Belly developer -

"2.2 has some improvements over 1.9 and a few things were tweaked to enhance performance, but if you're happy with 1.9 there's no problem staying there."

:D

I will be honest, my battery life is less than stellar on 1.8. Taking a hit over stock. (Although it could just be calibration is off. Will let it run dead today to see)

Anti, there's a free app in Play called "CPU Spy". It'll tell you what your deep sleep % is.

If you're not going into deep sleep when the phone is idle, it's likely because Maps is trying to get a GPS lock in the background. Don't ask me: I just tell it as I hear it :)

Get Faster GPS and GPS Status - again, free in Play - and let GPS lock.

Then we'll go from there.

EDIT: I can't believe some of the people in Rootzwiki. After everything that 2.0 broke, that 2.1 fixed, and that 2.2 tweaked; somebody over there flashed 2.0 and wonders why they lost root and GPS... why they didn't flash 2.2? No one knows...
