[Verizon] [ROM]JDX (formerly Jelly Belly) AOSP+ - v15 (7/28)

3.1 is up on Rootzwiki. New gapps go with it.

I just finished flashing the bootloader, 3.1 and gapps7-11. Rebooted fine, restoring from Titanium Backup now... here's hoping.

Oh, and my personal advice to those with downloading issues. Use torrents, and seed when you're done. This is what they were made for!

I decided to be lazy and dirty flash even though it wasn't recommended...worked fine. The voice search in Google Now is working. :smokingsomb:

Forgive my ignorance but what do you do with a torrent download when it's done? Do you need a certain app to make it usable?

It says to back up the SD portion, but I can't seem to be able to copy all the files. Will it really erase the SD partition?

Just dirty flashed 3.1 from 3.0. Not experiencing the issue of Google Now not speaking back to you that's being reported by some on Rootz. This build seems completely bug free except that native tethering still doesn't work (I never use so I'm not complaining :D ). There was a fix posted on xda though which, for those of you who need tethering, it is confirmed to work. No reason I see not to flash this build!

Oh, and another note, before someone starts freaking out, Currents, Play Books, Play Magazines, and Play Movies were all removed from system/app/. Just grab em in the Play Store!

Good Morning Jelly Beaners!

Well folks, I backed up everything I could to back up and then backed all THAT up to the PC. The I dirty flashed 3.1 and gapps 7-11 proper.

Worked.

There are evidently TWO things that DO NOT WORK with this version: face unlock and native tethering. And people on Rootz who clean flashed it are having the same issues... so it's not the dirty flash. It has to be the ROM.

Unless you guys who wiped can do these two things just fine, I'm not wiping. I DO use face unlock; but I also have a pattern, so all is not lost. And I really don't tether unless I absolutely have to. Just went to test it out and it FC.

So this is what 4.1.1 AOSP looks like, huh? Looks like what I've been running for a week now :p

EDIT: Getting a FC on Faster GPS, but not sure that it's necessary anymore. Opened Nav and GPS locked in about 15 seconds (in my house).

Went back into recovery, flashed the battery % and power menu mods, as well as Lean Kernel. Everything boots up fine.

And volume is WAY up! :D

Good to hear. I guess I'll have to look for the tethering fix.

Native tethering app that (apparently) blocks Verizon notification is here:

[ROM] mROM v1.1 JellyBean 4.1.1 AOSP for Verizon - stock, rooted - xda-developers

OP, under MODS.

If you're brave enough to flash this baby, tell us what happens! And back up EVERYTHING before you do it! ;)

EDIT: One bit of a bizarre thing I've noted - and I haven't read how to fix it yet - is that there are 2 storage areas now: /sdcard and /storage/sdcard0. Any hints on how to make sure my stuff goes to the right place? Can I set it up for one storage?

This morning I did a full wipe and flashed 3.1 and the latest GApps. Everything is working fine and I had no problems at all. I have not tried face unlock or tethering as I really don't use them. I agree with Chief, not really any different from what 2.5 was. I'm not sure if it's placebo or not but it seems like my signal strength is better. I have no numbers to back that up, just bars. But, I do have peace of mind that I'm on a genuine AOSP ROM instead of a cooked rip from a GSM phone.

Chief, did you dirty wipe from 2.5?

Well... it was 2.5 or 2.6... heck I don't know what I dirty flashed from! It's too early in the morning for this! :p

I wiped cache, Dalvik and System, then flashed away the ROM and gapps. Did the mods and kernel in a separate recovery session.

EDIT: Another thing I'm noticing is this: BT voice dial works... but I get NO PROMPT to "speak now". I have to time it, say "call home" and it will call home.

Otherwise BT works great.

Well, as long as it wasn't 3.0... I went back to 2.4 because it worked and I already had it on the sdcard. I was thinking of dirty wiping from there. Maybe I'll just do another clean wipe.

No, I'm pretty sure it wasn't 3. That one had too many issues so I hit the sack and waited for 3.1.

EDIT: As far as I'm concerned, I could flash from 1.5 and still be good. The only thing I didn't wipe was user data. Anything related to /system was wiped. So if I woke up in your shoes and really really wanted to flash it, I'd dirty flash it FIRST. If too much doesn't work, then do a full wipe :)

That's what I like to hear. So is there a torrent that I'm missing b/c this DL is taking forever.

Edit: Nevermind. I see it on Rootz now.

You download the torrent and then open it in a program like utorrent. It then downloads the file for you. But you're not just downloading it from 1 person...usually. At least I think that's how it works. Either way, it works and is a lot faster than downloading it from 4ndr01d.com

I guess I was lucky: I hit the mirrors at about 4:30 this morning and it DL'd immediately!

One thing about torrents, though: by all means, CHECK THE MD5 before you flash it! ;)

EDIT: Hey Copper, did you flash that tether fix? Did it work?
