[Verizon] [ROM]JDX (formerly Jelly Belly) AOSP+ - v15 (7/28)

Waiting to hear how 3.2 is.

/me is still on ICS. :p

I'm still on JB2.5 Think I'll have time to try 3.2 today :D

Also waiting to root the sgs3, wife is beating around the bush.....she's just waiting for the baby I think and wants a fully working phone during :p

I think I will avoid upgrading until we've gone a solid 3 days without an update :D

Got some real interesting results guys. For whatever reason, no matter where it's placed, the /download folder is not visible via the pc. So I moved it using Root Explorer into the Temp folder as mentioned. Now when I download a file, it goes into the old standby /Download folder as was always the case in the past.

Also, it elimnated the cache/recovery log errors in CWM. :smokin:

So...I'm thinking it may be best to 86 that folder via Root Explorer to avoid conflicts. Before I get rid of it though, I'm going to investigate any necessary relationship to TiBu as CopperWires mentioned.

Sorry for the NOOB question, but if I flash a ROM do I wipe my SD card? Should I do a Titanium Backup before I make the jump for ICS 4.0.4 to JB? All the steps I've seen say you need to do a full CWM wipe. I'm not sure if that wipes just the ROOT folders or everything. Thanks guys!

NO! Do NOT wipe your SD card! More in the edit.

EDIT: The SD card is where your ROM is sitting, waiting to be flashed. If you wipe absolutely everything, you're essentially DONE. You're sitting with an expensive paperweight.

I always recommend a TiBU backup. But ONLY restore user apps and data... never system apps or system data.

Data wipe / factory reset in CWM wipes 4 things: /data (where your user data and settings are); cache (temp folder for apps); Dalvik cache (temp folder for system); and /system (where the operating system resides). Once you wipe all those things in CWM, it's an empty shell of a phone. It does not and will not affect your SD card contents.

THEN flash the ROM and gapps. They will repopulate /system on initial boot (which will take some time... be patient).

JDDan or The_Chief - I'm new to the root and flashing game. It really doesn't interest me to keep flashing new revisions over and over again. Would you recommend I just stay on 2.5 and wait for the AKOP release in a week or so? Or is there really a reason to keep flashing these newer versions outside of personal preference?

Thanks!

If everything is good on your end I most definitely recommend sticking on 2.5 it is a very solid build imo. Then, when source JB is mastered and given more time in the wild and as a few mods are added, then go for the upgrade when you find the features you like and the satisfaction of knowing everyone is reporting it as stable and bug free.

Scaredy cat! Jump in! :p :D

The dev should be pushing an update shortly to address that issue.

EDIT: Yayyy I found a 3.2 Dl link that works! Get ready, Ginny!

Lol not scared. Just felt meh about JB. Until its working better, and things like lightflow and the volume levels are improved, I need a phone that works.

That said, I think I am going to get a GSM model Gnex and be ditching VZW. :)

Hey, just thought about this, any AOSP based ROM will have the disabled search if I am not mistaken, limiting the effectiveness of Voice Search and Google Now.

volume levels were improved for me after flashing 3.0

Yep. But they are already committing edits on this rom anyway so they have it working again. Swapping in the necessary stuff from 2.5 I'd assume.

So along with duplicate download folders....I now have duplicate browser apps....anyone else have 2 of the android browser?
Clean install of 3.1....so may have to clean install 3.2 to fix some of the duplicated items.

This might be due to my dirty flashing 3.1, I don't really care since I don't use it, but is anyone else's face unlock enabling but then showing only a black screen when you try and unlock it (on 3.1)?

Are the 3.2 files not posted yet? I noticed some guy mirrored 3.2 plus new Gapps toward the end of the thread but I don't see them in the OP yet.

Wondering why he said 3.0-->3.1 dirty flash wasn't allowed...

Don't know his rhyme or reason. What I'd really like to see though? A dev that is working on JB push out a release to a group of testers and let them have it for 24 hours. Report issues, fix, then test one more time, THEN push it to the public.

We know JB is here, I'm loving 2.5, it's as stable and solid as anything I've tried on the GN, now it is time to take the next step forward and test before releasing sourced based JB builds. I'm a crack flasher at heart, but I'd like to see them start testing and not releasing just for the sake of releasing first or fastest.

How long did it take to boot up on the first flash of 3.1? Mine has been on the "X" for about 15 minutes now.

That is a little too long imo. Can you give us some more info like what recovery you using, did you do a full wipe, what rom are you coming from?

Tip to all:

If during your travels of flashing all these JB roms, you end up at the Google lock screen for an extended period...don't pull the battery. Wait it out. I've had this happen on a few occasions now. Not sure what it's doing in the background but I'd advise we don't interrupt it.
