Root [Virgin Mobile] [VMOBI][ROM][KERNEL] Victorious ROM + VaeVictus OC kernel (Updated 7-30-13)

So I'm pretty new here but just wanted to let you know I rooted my phone and flashed this victorious rom and so far things are ok. I feel like my phone is running smoother and a little bit faster. Although sometimes when I press my camera button I will either get the stock camera or the other one. I noticed when I do take a pic with the stock camera they come out as a black screen shot. Also the wireless tether app always crashes.
Your camera app may be confused as to where it is storing pictures due to the sdcard swap. Try setting your camera's storage to phone, then resetting it to sdcard, finally setting it back to phone so that it will store on your swapped external sdcard (which is actually phone, and phone is actually your sdcard in those settings).

Unfortunately, the swap is a hack, it's not something built into the system, so you have to work around it in some apps. If you don't want/need the increased storage (or it's just causing you too many problems), you can disable the swapping of your sdcard by removing this file with root explorer:
/system/etc/init.d/11external2internalsd

I came across another issue... it seems under this rom I can't use adb to install and launch applications. Console says both launch install are successful but nothing on the phone changes and the app is not in the memory. Could this be issue with adb thinking the phone is running off of the internal memory still? Any workarounds to try?

It may be the ext2intsd mod messing that up. I recommend just copying your sold to sd and install with a file manager.

I have a problem with my sound. It has all of a sudden just stopped working. I have been using victorious for a few weeks now and this is the first problem I've had with it, so I would also like to say thanks for everything.

Have you installed any apps that have anything to do with sounds (media players, ringtone apps, notification apps, etc)? Have you gone through the settings to makes sure sound is turned on everywhere?

I haven't modified any sound settings/files in the ROM, and we haven't modified any sound settings/files in the kernel, so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with Victorious or VaeVictus, but we'll try to help you troubleshoot it regardless.

Which version of the kernel are you running? There was a release or two where I forgot to edit default.prop, but the latest kernels (past two VaeVictus builds for sure), have the modifications. Are you able to do everything else via ADB? Also, have you tried a remount command on /system and /data before install/launch? And what OS are you running and on, Linux, Windows, Mac?

Yeah, saw the commit, sweet sounding stuff!

BTW- we have an error in gpu-oc. Look at the first frequency line. At work note, well fix tonight if you don't first.

I will see if I can take a look at it...I tried to add bfq io gov, but it kills the compile (last step of io gobs being built fails). Ima create another branch for it, push the code and maybe you can help me out on it

How long is the typical wait after flashing the Victorious ROM?

My flash seemed to go ok but the phone seems to just hang, over 30 minutes, on the Samsung logo after the Victorious Logo shows very quickly.

Warning- Be sure you download
Victorious-0.2.2-r1
or you will loose root!

If you have lost root, flash the superuser.zip
file in the downloads section.

Update 7-30-13
--Switched to Koush's Superuser
--VaeVictus-0.1.5 kernel (OC CPU+GPU)
CPU 384mhz-1.8ghz GPU 200mhz-400mhz
Be sure to thank rbheromax, the OC God!
--Fixed VideoPlayer playback
Thanks for the lib files TeachMe!
--Replaced bad bootanimation.zip
Safe to use bootanimation2
--Added VPN support (needs testing)
--Added native PlayStation Mobile
--Updater-script removes bad mount scripts
If you use scripts or apps that use scripts located in
/system/etc/init.d, other than Victorious's custom mount script, back them up before flashing!

--Inching closer to a .1 release ;)

Note- See second post for details on preparing your sdcard for use with a 2nd partition!
Victorious_ROM-500x300_zps6f72ebf9.png

A deodexed and optimized version of the
stock 4.1.2 (goghvmu) update for
the
Galaxy Victory Virgin Mobile (rooted only).

Important - Victorious is currently being released as an update without the complete firmware package, which means you must be on the stock rooted firmware (rom), or Victorious, before flashing Victorious!
Do NOT wipe system or data partitions when flashing!

Update 7-24-13 : -Switched to VaeVictus overclocked kernel,
now you can overclock to 1.8ghz and use any of 10 different governors to control your cpu speed!
HUGE THANKS TO rbheromax FOR HELPING GET THE FREQEUNCY TABLES FIGURED OUT FOR OVERCLOCKING!
-Added support for zip format custom bootanimations,
use root explorer to rename /system/bin/bootanimation to bootanimation.bak and bootanimation2 to bootanimation, then reboot. I've included a sample Solar Flare bootanimation.zip in /system/media.
-Added some VPN services back in an attempt to get Video Player working properly again.
-Added the ability to use a 2nd partition on your sdcard with Links2sd for storage. You will have to partition your sdcard to ext4 (I used TWRP), remove all Links2SD links and the /system/etc/init.d/11links2sd script as well as the /system/etc/install-recovery.sh created by Links2SD if you have it installed already. Once booted, open Links2SD and if it asks to re-create mount scripts choose no.

Update 7-16-13 : Restored Activation, PRL updates, Profile updates,
Samsung Software updates, and Firmware updates.
Note- Activation may need to be done via phone pad by dialing
##72786#,
not sure if it works from the menus.
Restored ability to transfer files via NFC (needs testing)
Thanks to kwknott for finding the necessary apks and testing!
Update 7-10-13 : Fixed WiFi Tethering, added Gallery/Camera4.3 combo (kept stock combo too), removed more bloatware and non-english fonts, changed Samsung boot logo to Victorious ROM!

Update 7-1-13 : Now has JupiterOne's RedSpot Uncapped kernel, and native extsd2internalsd support. Now your clockspeed is uncapped to 1.5ghz+, and app storage is based on your sdcard size!

Note- If you have the ext2int app or one like it installed (links2sd, etc),
uninstall the app and remove all scripts before flashing!

WARNING!!! Installing custom ROMs on your phone could brick it, rendering it non-functional, and voiding your warranty! I take no responsibility for what you do to your phone! You have been WARNED!!!

NOTE - You should turn your phone off before removing your SdCard! Unmounting in settings will unmount the internal SdCard since it is swapped with the extSdCard. Removing an SdCard while still mounted can damage the card's filesystem!

i was wondering how long does it usually take during first boot, just curious, whats an average time, im going on about 30 mins or so..will it be longer??

I gave up and went back to my original rooted stock ROM.

If you are going to try this ROM flash, definitely make a backup of your system from the recovery. I almost did not and now I am very glad that I did!

Ps. I flashed with TWRP. Worked just fine, so you might want to add that to the original post.

how long did it take after u flashed and waited on the boot screen, it says it takes awhile the first time, but i was curious to about how long, and when do i realize when its stuck,,i dnt even kno what to do if it gets stuck...
