(VZW) Nexus 4.0.X Update Discussion

Just in case someone thinks I'm trolling I'm posting a pic taken with my thunderbolt. Only thing I can think of is they sent the OTA to this phone because it is one of their demo phones.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that. I believed you, just was wondering if it was just a very small push to test/demo units and then the trolls hopped on and started posting "me too"s just to mess with us. :)

So now that you're our resident guinea pig, I have questions :D

1. did you have signal issues previously? if so, does the new radio help at all? how is the hand off time? are you getting better dBm?

2. did you have the mid-call muting issue? if so, does this OTA fix it?

Those were the two big ones for me that I'm curious about...I'm sure others have questions too :) Thanks!

I didn't get the feeling anyone here was considering me a troll but I posted that pic just in case.:D As far being a guinea pig, sure thing!

1. I literally just got the phone this morning at around 10:15 AM so my experience is very limited. I can tell you that so far I'm not impressed with the radio in this phone. I can't even get consistent wifi on this thing. For as many problems the Thunderbolt had I get consistent 4G and wifi on that in my office.

2. I have only made one test call at this point and that was after the OTA.

If anyone has any other questions I will try to do my best to answer.

Could you maybe get a system dump?

i sure would like to know the deployment system they are using. Meaning how they determine which devices gets the push.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that usually updates get pushed in a way that levels the load as much as possible on Verizon's network infrastructure, so the rollout is partly dictated by geography, partly subscriber density by region.

could be true. If so it would be interesting to know the regions of the people that have received the update. I would also assume there is probably another overriding update criteria as well. Like maybe within specified geography regions push to store or certain units first maybe also based on build date of the device. As in batch number of the production builds of devices.

I was in Verizon today around 1100 and one of the sales people had a Galaxy Nexus and he got the OTA.....I was surprised.....My fingers are crossed and I am wearing out the check for update feature....

as wide spread as this is becoming now i wouldn't put it past a dev or someone going to the store...installing alogcat on the demo unit then pushing the update to their email or something of that nature. or their dropbox.

also at this point i would say we should see the update popping up by tomorrow from someone so that we can install it. ....at least that is what i'm hoping for.

What would alogcat tell you? Sorry for the dumb q.

You'd see the file name, and from there people could hit the usual mirrors to try and snag the file.

All it takes is ONE of us capture this zip and that puppy will spread like wildfire!

also just based on what i've read which looks true when i look at that system dump the radio files aren't included in the sys dump. Some of you may have already known this but i didn't. Just relaying that.

well at least we know the native name of the .zip lol.

that thread will blow up in a matter of moments. lol
