Welcome to the new AndroidForums (Round 2)

How exactly does the "trending topics" sidebar work?

I'm asking because right now the top 3 are "Assurance Wireless", "Angry Birds" and "Samsung Infuse 4G". Clicking on these reveals that the first 2 have no threads whatsoever to display, and the third has had no posts in the last fortnight.

Just curious. I ignore this sidebar anyway, but it seemed not merely pointless but perverse that there should be a "trending" sidebar that takes you to sections where there is no discussion at all happening, and I don't see this giving a good impression to new visitors.

I think those were hammered by spammers, which occasionally throws a monkey wrench into the process. I'll ping @Phases to have a look.

What! Nobody is interested in Angry Birds any more? :(

Just want to vent my extreme frustration with the new site again, since it's still approximately 20 times slower than the old one. I don't understand why you couldn't leave access to the old site like most sites do after switching. The ads are horrendous and the site barely works with puffin browser.

I would definitely argue with the 20x slower statement!

..as for leaving access - its because we changed more than just the theme itself. When you do that it lends nicely to allow people to swap around but, when you start messing with some of the code outside that, it becomes difficult to support both.

Just for you I looked at them. All three are still listed as #1, #2, and #3.

(In Internet Explorer if you increase the magnification it finally reaches a point where the display in question is moved to the bottom.)

I tried to use the app this week on both my LG G6 and an older Samsung tab7 and neither would refresh most recent beyond three months ago. And, if i tried to post it would fail. I am logging in using Google credentials and have the most recent play store version. What gives?

Still seeing no improvement in the mobile app, at least for me. I will get the Forums/Timeline/My Stuff screen, but nothing loads after that 90% of the time. If anything DOES load, it is 5 months old and if I click on a thread, either nothing loads or the app crashes. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no change in function. Basically have had to abandon using the mobile app.

For information, this came up on AF this morning. I know it's a fake ad, but others might not. Come to AF looking for help with an Android device and end up with something nasty on it instead, nice!!

“Your browser is heavily damaged by Four virus! We detect that your Generic Android 6.0 is 28.1% damaged because of harmful viruses from recent adult sites. it will damage your phones sim card and will corrupt your contacts photos and data. if you do not remove the virus now it will cause serious damage”.

BTW this was a Google ad as well.

O get those ridiculous ads myself, they take over the whole damn browser and any tabs you have left open...Chrome Browser & Fbook, I never get them on anything else.

Me too, as that's required for a great new release!

A little bit. Most issues will be resolved and anything that still is outstanding and are still relevant will be quickly looked at. I have been slaving away... Don't worry!

'Slaving' being the operative word :) It's a thankless task writing software, isn't it?
