What Tasker profiles is everyone using?? (This thread is NOT for requesting help with profiles)

There's a new Tasker forum on AF! Under android discussion/ android applications.

Maybe the op could ask one of the mods to move this thread into that forum, in order to keep everything Tasker in one place..?

I have the following thus far.
1. Alert sound plays once my battery is fully charged, so I can remove the phone from the charger.
8. Turned off annoying camera shutter sounds in Camera and Camcorder.

Droid X (rooted)
Would like to know how you set these up ?:)

I updated to an ICS rom and my phone no longer vibrates when I get a text, regardless of the settings, which all scream "YES, VIBRATE." So I used Tasker and just made an incredibly simple task to vibrate for 1s, wait 250ms, vibrate for 1s, wait 250ms, vibrate for 1s any time a text message is received. Hope this helps someone who was as frustrated as I was trying to get the stupid thing to vibrate on a text. I must have sent myself 50 test messages with all different settings before I realized it just plain wasn't going to work.

Where is vibrate? I found Play Ringtone but no vibrate.

* never mind. It's under alerts.

The battery full notification is just setting a task, such as an alert, to run if the battery level reaches 100%. It may be helpful to limit repeats per a certain time.

There are two ways to disable the camera shutter sound with tasker, but neither is good. One is to silence the system sounds when the camera app is opened, and the other is to use tasker's built-in camera function. However, the easier way to disable the shutter sound is to...turn off the shutter sound. The vast majority of roms have that option. If you're rooted, you can disable the shutter sound in build.prop or replace the sound with a silent .ogg file in /system/media/audio/ui. It's "camera_click.ogg."

Hi,
I read a lot of things, but as a beginner, I don't understand very well how it works. I would like to start an action (task) when several events are true (date/time AND the device is AC plugged) but didn't find how to do that. I can start my script with date/time OR power condition is true, but not when both are true. Could someone help me, or give me a track to go ?
Thank you.
BR.

Lord knows I'm a beginner too, but if you long press on a context you can add another, in which case both contexts need to occur for the task to run. Does this help?

Hello Bruce73,
Yes, thank you, it helps a lot.
Another question how to trigger by Date/time ? Do I have to use the calendar or time from/to and one/several day(s) of the week or another method that I didn't see ?
Many thanks.
BR.
Daniel.

I want to run my Nandroid backup once a week on Sunday at 1 PM, only if the device is AC powered. So, with your answer I was able to do that, but I didn't find, like in other schedulers, a choice for Date/Time as a trigger argument.
I only found Time as a first context which seems to define a range of valid time for trigger argument and as a second context a Day choice, which is the same as the others schedulers (it permits to choose the day(s) when you want to start the task(s)), the third one being the AC powered condition.
For the starting Date/Time, I found that a little complicated, usually we can set a Date & Time to start an action, but this program seems to be very powerful, but not easy to understand.
Sorry for my English, but even in French this is not easy to explain .
BR.

I forgot: we cab also set a recursing appointment in the calendar and set it as a trigger argument (if possible of course).

Daniel.

Try setting the finish time the same as or 1 minute after the start time. If the task is linear (calls one external process) then tasker cannot kill it when the time context is no longer true.

It is exactly what I did and it seems to work well, but not a very intuitive approach :):). Do you confirm it is the right way to do that ?

Think of it like this, if your task is a repeating task.... Like flash LED.... Start time.... LED starts to flash. Stop time, LED Stops flash.

Task is one thing that goes start to end, start time... Task starts... Stop time, Task still going until finishes naturally.

Hey there!

I have a question as i still use older tasker version due to incompability issues with my device and soon i'm getting something new, the question is :

In older tasker for time-based profiles i had to split them into 2 profiles if they were day-breaking e.g. i needed profile to switch my phone to airplane mode from 23 till 07 and i had to do 2 profiles, one to take care of time from 23 to 00 and one to take care of time 00 to 07. Was it changed? so i can just use one profile?

Thanks for reply.

Can anyone please help?

I've set up tasker so that when I plug the headset in the phone it opens my music app, I have added more music apps ie Radio, video player etc, I read somewhere that I should see a menu pop up with what music app I want to open when the headset is plugged in but I'm not seeing it?

I've clicked on the tools button (bottom right) but I don't get or see any option for selecting a menu.

Anyone give me any pointers....I'm running Tasker 1.3.1

Thank you.

Go to Tasks / Alerts / Menu and set it up that way. I have two separate profiles, one with WiFi on and one with it off, which give me different choices.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my profile to switch the phone to silent mode at a particular day and time and back to normal sound mode a few hours later just isn't doing anything.

Yes, and the ROM info listed is still correct (I'm thinking about a switch, but haven't gotten the motivation to do it yet).
