I've thought for along time (and I'm definetely not alone on this) that Apple is kept afloat by a very small base of users, and I see examples of it all the time.
Flying home yesterday, the lady next to me is texting on her iPhone 4. Afterwards she pulls out her Macbook pro and starts editing a flash animation and starts listening to tunes on her iPod. I fell asleep for a bit, but when i woke up, she has....yes...an iPad!
I have several friends who are exactly the same way, and they have no business buying the overpriced junk given their financial situations, but they have to have it because Steve Jobs said it is revolutionary. I have even offered help if they want to install OSX on cheaper hardware. Nope, gotta have that Apple logo.
