What the heck is the deal with iphone users Vs Android users

my question is about apple haters,so i hope nobody gets all bent out of shape. the question is if you have a apple computer and an android phone, why would you not have the iphone instead. would they all not work better together or is that not the case.im asking because im thinking of switching to a mac computer. but i like my android. why would hate the iphone and not the mac computer?

Don't even worry about what everyone else is hating or loving. Make your decision based on what you like or feel about it. I have never stopped to consider for an instant what anyone else would think of my phone, my computer, my car, my motorcycle, my girlfriend, etc... I don't give two shits what anyone else thinks about my possessions. If they were buying it for me, then I'll listen to their opinion. But so long as I'm the one shelling out the money, all that matters to me is that I like it.

If you like the Mac computers then buy one and damn all of those who might look at you like a sell-out, a poser, or any of that crap. If your friends give you a hard time about it or something like that they they're too juvenile to hang out with. Go make you happy, not your friends.

It's really simple to explain.
I want a phone with a keyboard so that I could type up docs or even little things like entering a password (if your password isn't a big deal to enter with a soft keyboard then it probably isn't strong enough). Many Android phones have keyboards. iPhone doesn't.
I want a games device with real physical controls. Android gives an opportunity for a Sony to come up with an xperia play for console style gaming. iPhone just floods the market with touch and tap games. Some of those games are pretty good but I want to see regular games for a change.
I want a tablet with a stylus so that I can take notes and draw so I don't need to use paper. Once again, Steve Jobs isn't interested (he took down the Newton). As far as Apple is concerned, multitouch is the only UI innovation that matters.

Honestly, Mac computers are made really well. The OS is great for video/photo editing. I absolutley love their computers, but hate their phones/ipod/ipads.

Besides syncing, there really isnt an advantage to using an apple mobile product with an apple computer. And android can sync just as well with windows and mac by itself.

because the iphone is EXTREMELY limited in what it can do, thanks to Steve Jobs putting his greedy little hands in every thing it does.

You sir said exactly what I was going to say. Love Mac computers, HATE the iPhone/iPod/iPad.

Some people look beyond just the brand. ;)

Also, consider that you can setup an Android device to connect via BT to a Mac. Try that with an (non-jailbroken) iPhone.

^ This. It does no good to poll people unless the people responding happen to have needs/wants that are in line with your own.

I love these kinds of threads, because they are practically endless..

Apple is great if you like vanilla ice cream. If you want chocolate with nuts and carmel mixed in you better get something other than Apple because they just haven't been as interested in what you want as they were in telling you what you want. For the record we have Apple, PCs and now Androids, in our family. Each serves it's purpose.

iPhoto imports camera pictures/video from Android just dandy.

There are multiple iTunes syncing apps in the market. I've had the best success with iSyncr, which doesn't try to get ahead of itself. When you launch the desktop app it you are shown a list of your iTunes playlists. Put a check by the ones you want to sync and click the sync button. It syncs play times and ratings, and you can also create smart playlists on your phone with the phone app. It includes a play control widget to set ratings. I found DoubleTwist wanted to completely replace iTunes and Saling MEdia Sync was actually rewriting the tags while syncing, downgrading them to 1.x tags and thereby losing important metadata. You won't be able to play any iTunes purchased video due to the encryption (the m4v container and the h264 video + aac audio is supported though).

For video files you want to watch on your phone just plug in USB click the button to mount SD storage, then drag/drop in Finder from your desktop to the Video folder on your phone storage. Eject the phone storage when your done, disable SD mount on the phone, and you will see the video files in the Gallery app.

The iPhone syncs nicely with Mail/iCal/Address Book (and Outlook on Windows?). Many converts from iPhone to Android spin their wheels trying to figure out how to duplicate this syncing from desktop to phone by mistake. Go here and configure Mail/iCal/Address Book to sync directly with the Google services that your phone is designed to sync with. for the best experience.

I can't really think of anything else to integrate between the phone and the Mac, and it's handled very nicely. Honestly iTunes music is the weakest but iSyncr makes that pretty painless.

I'm an Apple Fanboy myself but I like my Inspire 4G as much as I liked my iPhone 4. There are definitely more things you can do with the Inspire 4G / Android device. I like how you can tether for free, customizable screens and widgets. What I liked about the iPhone 4 was how polished iOS and their apps are. I also liked the camera on the iPhone 4 better. They are both great devices...I have an iPad2 so thats the reason I don't have an iPhone.

IMO....If Apple didn't release their 1st iPhone, I don't think smartphones would be where they are today. We'd probably still have black and white Blackberry's and Windows CE.

Looks like you've crossed over :D I also like(d) the Iphone, they were good in the beginning, but they've fallen too far behind now, and I think their need for proprietary parts is going to make people go away from them...Who wants a phone that takes 3 hours to open up? I also wouldn't want a phone with two screens (not really two screens, but the back is glass too, which I think is kind of dumb.)

His response to my "8 MP camera" comment is "WTF? I'm not a photographer" And he tried to tell me that he got an app that made it into a 10 MP camera and I was like "Hellllooooo, my Dad's a photographer, I know that's impossible"
His response to my bigger screen comment is something along the lines of his being better resolution, but I'd rather have massive screen over small screen with a better resolution.

I also read somewhere that the reason Iphone has such a long battery life is because of such a small screen (which I know is true) and older processors than other phones (which I'm not so sure is true.)

He recently started saying "Iphone's a classic." If he tells me Iphone is a classic, I'm gonna tell him to stick to black and white rear-projection TV's for the rest of his life since they're classics (they were the first TV's right, or was there something before it?) and I'll buy me a 72" 3D LED TV.
I think that's his last final plea proving he has nothing else to argue with and he just can't admit I've won.

Coming from all versions of iphone there is no win or loss in this battle. Both systems have their plus or minus each phone, each OS and each appstore has pluses and minuses. It is all in the way or flavor per se you want to use to achieve your goals with your phones

I've been a devoted MacHead since '85. Had well over a dozen Macs. Still have a MacBook Pro and a 24" iMac, and use them everyday. But Apple's/Steve's concept has changed considerably since the introduction on OSX, a decade ago. Since then they/he try/tries to lock-in every Apple user, and lock out every non-Apple user. Witness iTunes, App Store, iPods, iPads, and iPhones. I don't like that mentality one bit. So I got me an Android phone. Works like a charm with my Macs (until Steve, or his successor – which I expect soon – locks down that too).

Blackberry: Brought the smart phone to businesses.
iPhone: Brought the smart phone to consumers.
Android: Brought the smart phone to the masses.
