What will you upgrade to next?

Now you guys have me thinking about it.

I have an upgrade just sitting on my account and can get the D2 for $49 or the Fascinate for $.01.

I'm sitting on an upgrade as well. Ever since I posted in this thread ALL I've been thinking about is a new phone. I'm curious though, how are you able to get a Fascinate for a penny

I was looking at an Amazon deal, but now I am looking at the Best Buy Deal to get the phone for free.

I'm waiting on an EVO type phone, but i'm really afraid it will be binged up. I don't buy the low to mid range phones for Bing. The Fascinate, and the Merge/Lexicon to me aren't mid, they are high...and they've been Binged.

I had my concerns about Bing too. After reading/watching a few reviews, it doesn't really bother me that much anymore. This video review in particular help me make up my mind.

The way Bing works with the phone doesn't look like it is really overtaking anything. Google Maps + Nav and most of the other Google apps still work on the phone too. If I really grow to hate it, I can always root and deBing the phone.

My gf has had the Incredible for a few days now. I'm enjoying it, but I do not like how the USB connecter is on the side and not the bottum, so if you need to talk and charge at the same time you have an akward cord coming out the side, and not the bottum. At least when it was on the bottum it felt like talking on an old corded phone, if you guys remember what those were...

De-binging, if necessary for you on the Fascinate, is as easy as removing any other app, once rooted.

Rooting and unrooting are so simple for the device that both can be done in the space of about two minutes.

Also, with it rooted, it still receives updates OTA as long as you've not installed a custom ROM.

My dad upgraded to the D Inc last month and I have to wait until November before I can upgrade...but I'm leaning towards the Samsung Fascinate.

At least when I head over to the Fascinate section, I'll be in good company, right Frisco & OTD? :)

I'm starting to think I'm the only one on the eris forum who still has an Eris.

I am still the proud owner of my Eris. At least until I can upgrade anyway. Though, I will probably still hang on to mine after that (unless the wifey wants it).

My girlfriend still has her Eris and I will still keep mine, just in case. ;)

Im looking at the best buy deal too. Do you think its legit?

I ordered mine on the website this morning with no trouble and no charges. I'll be headed over to the store by my office in about an hour to pick it up.

its says that the fascinate isnt available for shipping and im nowhere near a bestbuy. This sucks.

If you can take a drive to a store within the next 8 days you can do it online today and pick up in a store. They give you 8 days to do a pick up. I'd find the closest store and take a drive this weekend to save $200, but that is just me.

I plan to always have my Eris (although I can tell my son really wants to "adopt" my Eris for his first smart phone, but I don't want to give it up--yet).

I get the feeling that in the not-too-distant future, there will be a hue and cry by folks seeking-out the Eris for its compact / sleek form and versatility (when rooted, of course ;)).

"They don't make 'em like they used to...".

My Eris is sitting idle.. I turn it on once in a while.. fire up the thing and look at it for a minute or two.

"Rather drab display," I mumble while shutting it off and returning it to its shrine. :D

Dual core phones is pushing it even, but I guess them being released to the public is a possibility.
I dunno if I would want a triple core phone at the moment (or even dual), I can imagine them being really big and annoying to carry around.

The Droid PRO which is coming out in the next couple months is a Dual Core 1.3ghz. its the same size as the Droid2

I just checked out the best buy deal. That's amazing! How can they aford to give these away for free when big red is slinging them for 200? I'm sitting on an upgrade and after watching the video that OTD posted I'm finding it hard to not want to go to best buy and get the facinate. It looks sexy as hell and I'm an impulse buyer. Damn this thread for making me want a new phone.

Frisco..I know you loved your Eris, how is this new phone working for you? Has it met your expectations? You also said its super easy to root? Have you rooted yet?

First, I will never be Eris-less. I plan to continue using the Eris as a phone when I need something smaller and it will probably remain a dedicated music and book player for me. It is and always will be a great little device. My girl also still has her Eris so until she changes I can't be Eris-less.;)

As for the Fascinate it is really nice, HUGE, but really nice. With its specs it's obviously faster and it has a lot more memory. I reloaded all the apps I had on my Eris and still have over 60% of my memory left. The screen is nothing short of stunning and I am having trouble charging it because I can't stop playing (little kid with a new toy and all that) with it.

For anyone that loves their Eris, is no longer attached to Sense, wouldn't mind going bigger and has an upgrade the Fascinate is a really good choice. IMHO, of course.

I rooted the device, then unrooted, so that I'd know what I was talking about when responding to posted questions about those things in the Fascinate forums.

It also was a remarkable coincidence, as I unrooted within hours of an update coming OTA that I did not know about. There are mixed reports of rooted Fascinates accepting the OTA.

All of the reasons that caused me to move away from the X, my first choice as I entered the Verizon store, and to this device were also in play as I unrooted; there is no reason for me to root the device beyond removing Blockbuster and the many other kiddie apps. As it is, they can be hidden via menu selections.

Very bright, clear display. Larger screen. Fast, fast, fast. ;) Reliable, solid animal.

My Eris has always been the same, quality wise, so I had high expectations when I decided on the Fascinate. The X seemed lesser in looks, handling and quickness as I went back and forth in the store.

I loved my Eris when I first got it, then it started to slow down, a lot! Then I rooted it, and now I love it again. Recently I was at the store with my girl looking for an upgrade for her, and she was looking at the Galaxy S and the Incredible. That got me thinking, what am I gonna upgrade to when 2 years is up?

The Incredible is nice, little bigger, but I like the Eris's trackball much better. The Galaxy S is really nice, but HUGE compared to the Eris, and don't remember if it even had a track ball. Also the Galaxy S has it's Home button and Menu button's locations switched as compared to other Android phones.

I'd really like for HTC to make and Eris II, or hopefully an Incredible II.

What are you guys going to upgrade to?
I'm either gonna try my hardest to be as patient until the Holidays. There is a rumored "Droid T2" (Tegra 2) that is supposed to run dual 1GHz CPU and front-facing camera w/Gingerbread.

If I lose my patience, I'll probably get a Droid X.
