What's the weather like where you are?

So yesterday afternoon an alert for 3 to 5 inches of snow goes out along with a layer of ice somewhere in there. Later that evening they said it could be up to 8 inches. This morning schools cancelled classes. By 10 a.m. they had lowered the snow estimates to 2" to 4". It's now about three hours since they cancelled the winter weather advisory and we got bupkis! I can't wait to hear the spin on this on the 6:00 news.

Well, we've had instances where they keep saying we are going to get 2-4" and there are already 12" on the ground.

So I'm watching the KTLA Morning News, as I do every day, and as the anchors hand off to the meteorologist, she's talking while a map is on-screen.

"Let's talk about that cold weather," she says, "I just took a walk outside--it was so cold. It was windy, so it feels even colder than it actually is out there." More stuff about cold, windy weather. Then she walks on-screen.

Now, I'll bet you're picturing a warmly-dressed woman, all snuggled up in a toasty warm outfit to fend off this Arctic cold, right? Well, let's see:

Here's a shot of our frozen tundra:

Ah, winter in SoCal. She went on to tell us about our unusually cold highs in the 60s before hitting the mid-70s in a few days. :)

She could give Godzilla a run for his money. :)

Lots of sun and crisp temps here in Oz. It's right at the freezing mark and grass blades are starting to peek out of the snow. Ice is all but gone from the streets. With zero wind and big blue skies it is a beautiful day for mid December.

I'm not sure how you mean that!

Sounds nice! (Except for the freezing temperature part. You know me.)

1/2" of freezing rain. At least it is the less crappy kind that only stuck to the ground and vehicles and stuff, not trees and powerlines. At least we kept power.

Oh, geesh...I don't envy you. Ugh.

Are warmer temps on the way?

No, actually.... temps down into the teens later in the week. I am so ready to go to FL or Cali, it isn't FUNNY! (Steven shouts the funny and everyone turns their heads saying, "What's gotten into him? Geesh... Can't he see we're trying to sleep?)
