It seems like it has been extremely hot this last week. In reality highs have been in the upper 80's to mid 90's. The humidity has been high which adds insult to injury as well. My biggest complaint about the heat is I've been without AC for a week. A replacement install is scheduled for tomorrow. Oh happy days!

It amazes me that I grew up in the era where very few homes had central air. Naturally I fell into the unfortunate group. All of the boys slept outside. It was an adventure and didn't seem to be a big deal at the time. The girls and the parents slept inside in the stifling heat... go figure. :) Six decades later I'm flat spoiled to conditioned air. I can not sleep in the steamy heat. I just can't take it. SPOILED! I've been driving back and forth to my cabin nightly so that I can sleep in comfort.

Let us all hope that some tragic event doesn't put mankind back in our natural environment. I know I would struggle, and I doubt I'm alone, to cope without the creature comforts we are all accustomed to. I'm not saying that man wouldn't or couldn't adapt. But it would sure take the fun out of existence.

It started raining late last night and hasn't let up since. It's a nice steady rain and we need a good soaking sort of rain. However, much more is in the forecast and we've already had enough. Two and a half inches has fallen and I hope we are at least halfway though this system.

On a side note: My ancient AC system gave it up and had to be replaced. It was absolutely miserably hot and humid the week we waited for the new install. The temps have been in the low sixties ever since the install. I think my new AC is working so well that it has cooled off the entire state! :)

Just checking out my lockscreen from my nature walk this afternoon:

Quite nice. Now tomorrow it's gonna be 90 plus so that's gonna suck.

2.75" of rain has fallen so far today. 2.5" in less than an hour which caused flash flooding everywhere. The runoff filled my street and was half way up into my yard. I can't remember that much rain in that short span of time. The worst part of the weather pattern is it's supposed to keep it up all night and most of tomorrow.

A cold front is moving through dropping the recent temps drastically. Naturally, the change has brought rain which washed out my planned round of golf this morning. Current conditions: 56.7° with a Northerly wind with gusts up to the mid twenty MPH range. .44" of rain so far with more in the forecast.

It's 97° at one PM here in Oz. Predicted high today is 99° and higher tomorrow. It's been hot like this all week and there is no break in the weather is in my 10 day forecast. The grass is burning up and trees are starting to drop some of their leaves. At least the humidity is dropping daily. It's not unusual for it to be this hot in July but it's usual for there to be no wind. Zero wind has been the norm for past few weeks. It's near brutal to work outside.

Right now a cool down after a semi massive heat wave today.
Around 79 degrees out there, just a bit cool and chilly, was outside with the doggy earlier tonight, the crickets was singing their song again :)

I've had triple digit highs since I last reported my weather. Zero wind hasn't helped the situation. A lot of the yards are toasted and crunch when you walk across them. It's been brutal. My station topped out at 105° again today but it's now in the low 90's. The wind is blowing and there are some rain clouds forming here and there. My forecast shows a much need break in the current weather pattern with a very slight chance of rain over night and temps dropping through out the week. The chances of much need rain increases as well as the week progresses. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The break in my weather finally came over night. The current temp is 71° where it has been in the upper eighties this time of the morning. A rain came on the edge of the weather front, dropping .86" of much needed moisture. More rain is in the forecast... I hope it is accurate!

It was extremely chilly here yesterday with the clouds and rain going on yesterday, and right now it is 81 degrees out, a beautiful weather and sun shining today! :) Hope everyone is enjoying this weather in Illinois.

It was a hot day today. 96°f I'm lucky to have a conditioner while working, otherwise I'd melt like an ice-cream. I saw the weather forecast for the whole week here, the heat won't go away. Hope to survive. I don't feel good when it's so hot.

The cool weather and rain left as quickly as it arrived. I got less than an inch total rain and the temp jumped right back into the triple digits.
Today my station topped out at 104° and it's supposed to be about the same tomorrow. There is a slight chance of rain for Monday and Tuesday with the temperature in the mid to high nineties. I hope for once the forecast is accurate.

We're having OTHER-WORLDLY hot weather here, really unlike anything my family and I can recall. Oh, we've always seen triple-digit temperatures, that's not new--during the *day*--but now they're lingering much later than we're used to. One thing that's always stood out about the weather here, compared to places like Texas, is that even at its hottest summer temps, evenings and nights were cool--you used to actually be able to open your windows and have a cool breeze come in. Not now. Look at these temps from September 3rd and 4th; note the time on each one:

Every day for the past week we've had power outage warnings and pleas from the power companies and public officials to dramatically cut our power usage--or else we're all going to suffer with no electricity. When you're absolutely sweltering and your pets are trying to find something cool to sleep on, it's TOUGH to comply! But we do. We're only cooling rooms that are actually in use, and setting the temp much higher than usual.

There's no end in sight, either. These crazy-high temps are expected to last another week. Ironically, we've actually had some flash flooding in nearby areas. I wish a great, big, torrential downpour like I used to see in Dallas would hit LA now. We sure need the water--and the cooling.
