Root What's Wrong With This ROM?

i just dont think youve been wiping properly when changing roms or restoring some dodgy data from titanium

I think you could be right. I'll just continue to partition my SD card... I'll probably start over the weekend due to being busy... I'll let you know when I've finished, or if I need any help, thanks.

Sorry to be a bother, but I'm REALLY having trouble partitioning my SD card...

Trouble as in I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what I'm doing... Could you give me EXACT instructions?

First off have you created a bootable cd from the gparted iso? Link in my Sig.
Second, do you have a card reader? (Not a necessary but easier)

Yes, I have a card reader, but no, I have not made a CD. So my eyes weren't deceiving me, it was saying something about making a CD...

yeah you need to make a bootable cd, i use magiciso, its a free program.
make the bootable disc
then when you restart your pc you may need to go into bios settings and tell it to boot from cd first, f8 or f10 during boot up i think,
then have a look through youtube on how to use it,
when gparted has loaded you will have to select your sd card, gp will then scan it, and then you simply delete the partitions and then create an ext 3 partition first then the rest can be made into fat 32, click apply and it does its thing, then simply click the red cross, select reboot, the cd drawer will then pop open and windows will boot.
make sure before you do any of this you backup your sd card and perform a nandroid backup.
then put all your stuff back onto the fat32 part, put the card back into the phone and boot into recovery and restore you nandroid backup and you should be good to go.

MAKE SURE WHEN SELECTING YOUR SD CARD IT IS THE SD AND NOT YOU COMPUTERS HDD AS YOU REALLY DONT WANT TO WIPE THAT.

heres a tutorial for gparted

Okay, thanks. Just another question though, is there another ROM for the HTC Desire which has a self timer and the ability to move ALL applications to the SD card? I have a friend who has a similar problem but after hearing what I told him about what I had to go through... Does not want to through it all.

not ALL applications will move to sd without an ext partition. If you dont have a partition, UI apps, apps with widgets and apps you want to run on start up should not be moved to sd.

That said, titanium backup can move any app to sd. If you pick a GB rom, that may include libs too.

Okay, thanks. I'll let him know that. I'm going to start my partition now.

Okay, after a few minutes I have worked out GB stands for (GingerBread). But that just leads to another question, I've been looking at some GB ROMS and there are more than one... Is there definitely not one with a self-timer?

That thing on the camera where it can do a number countdown before taking the picture (Usually used for taking pictures of yourself).

It was discussed earlier in the thread that Miui XJ has a self-timer (which is also Gingerbread). None of the major AOSP ones have one to my knowledge.

Some 3rd party camera apps do, but I've never tried any of them.

Okay, I will start the partition tomorrow again and ask for help along the way. Thank you all for your patience.

Okay, so I've opened "MagicISO"... How do I make the "bootlabe disc"?

ISO files are cd images.

You either have to use a "burn ISO" option, or mount it in a virtual drive and clone it

On the gparted download page it tells you how to make a usb too. Providing you have a BIOS that allows booting from usb

Okay, so when I am on the page that gives me the options to do it from:

From bootlabe floppy driver

From multi-bootlabe image file

From bootlabe image file

Which one do I choose?

Is this what your BIOS is saying? Because normally it says something like a list of boot order, usually hdd is first then cd and then usb if your pc supports it.
Can I ask what windows your running and age of your pc? It's nothing to do with making the disc I'm just curious.
