ease of useWhat would be the difference between the official and unofficial unlock?sounds like our best bet though.
looking at the updater script, it looks like it has the same exact partition layout (/dev/bootdevice/by-name) all they'd have to to do is replace the system, recovery, and boot files in the zip. not sure how hard that would be. but im positive we'll start getting somewhere by keeping on blowing up their chat services for a way to unlock the bootloader. if it worked for htc why wouldnt it work for zte. we just have to be persistent.I Have A Lovely Bridge Overlooking The Water That I Would Love To Sell You...
That's a simple little 59MB script that is used to unlock the A7..
They could modify that script on their lunch break to work on the MaxPro and release it tomorrow in an update..
It would not effect One Thing with either the PCS or T-Mobile variant..
Except give us the ability to remove those carrier's bloatware.. maybe that is the force behind not modifying the existing script maybe not.. but they certainly CAN give us the same option without much effort.. they just don't want to.. that's why it's the OnePlus 3T for me.. I'd rather give OnePlus my $400.00 than give it to ZTE for the Axon 7 on principal alone.
+1 for thislooking at the updater script, it looks like it has the same exact partition layout (/dev/bootdevice/by-name) all they'd have to to do is replace the system, recovery, and boot files in the zip. not sure how hard that would be. but im positive we'll start getting somewhere by keeping on blowing up their chat services for a way to unlock the bootloader. if it worked for htc why wouldnt it work for zte. we just have to be persistent.
So Messi.. (School Aside..) have you pretty much exhausted all your options of trying to come up with a delivery system for your TWRP / Root until this Bootloader can be unlocked by ZTE?+1 for this
I tried almost everything and every workaround (according to my knowledge ) with no luck.. , I'm facing a similar situation on the lg stylo 2 where lg has removed fastboot after some new ota updates on this device also those who still on old builds (who still have access to fastboot) and already flashed twrp cannot make any modification coz of the locked bootloader so a bootloader unlock will be a must to make modification or just wait for the king root team to crack it up & then i will try to make it permanent root...So Messi.. I think he means carrier unlock not bootloader unlockon facebook in the ztemax pro page.. someone says they unlocked the phone..
Here's another conversation I had with their email support this time
ZTE: Dear valued ZTE Customer
Thank you for contacting ZTE.
We really apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
We are really sorry to inform you that rooting the device will void the manufacturer's warranty on the device.
Being the manufacturer's we do not support rooting.
Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Best Regards!
Yeah I think that's what it is . It even references the Metro Unlock app. He paid for carrier unlock that then worked right through the Metro ware. I use it every three months when the unlock is free and then generally get another phone lol.I think he means carrier unlock not bootloader unlock
That's why these companies say root or mods will void warranty. That should be enough. IMO it should be optional. The warranty void warning is there. Wanna brick your phone by chance? That's on you......idkNo big surprise there. That's the official line from most people (maybe they changed HTC but the customer base between zte and htc have a vast chasm between them). I imagine it's a fine line to walk with the company. I mean there are angry customers who want to root, but then there are many devices that will undoubtedly be bricked the second a method is available. We may be relatively intelligent on here, but once a method becomes available, then the results show up in google, there will me many, inexperienced people trying to modify. Not just ZTE but every manufacturer. In their minds, it's just safer to have no root than pay to fix devices. They also have requirements thrust on them for security so things like android pay stay secure. if you're rooted, and a bad actor had access, they could man in the middle android pay or almost anything else. Even Verizon checks for root before allowing you to watch drm content.
Obviously it's not a huge problem now but if everyone was rooted it could be. I want root, just being devils advocate
That's why those apps like Android pay stop working when rooted (and possibly with an unlocked bootloader) by using the safetynet api. And people who root their phones almost always know the risk of modifying the system softwareThey also have requirements thrust on them for security so things like android pay stay secure. if you're rooted, and a bad actor had access, they could man in the middle android pay or almost anything else.
It has boot.img patch etc. Where to begin on modding it?Has anyone tried modding and flashing the the axon fastboot SSL? It sounded promising but no report.. I got what raider is trying to accomplish which might work.. the message is more for the tmo devs that hear us and tryin not to listen. If I can somehow email tmo CEO directly we might get somewhere. All I have is his Twitter and I think he's currently at CES with other companies to show off their plans for 2017 devices..
Umm.. No. That was the Original Zmax (draconis).. The Concord2 got Root via Kingo.Root.. Easier to achieve SuperSu changeoutDoes anyone know if this phone is vulnerable by way of ASEC exploit? I believe ZTE Concord 2 got root and CWM plus system write protect was bypassed I believe by switching boot and recovery in each other's spot. That way booting from recovery partition bypassed write protect. Google it please. Sorry if it's a waste
Duh to me... I owned zmax 1. Lol . Do you or anyone know how we can find out CVE vulnerabilities for zmax pro?Umm.. No. That was the Original Zmax (draconis).. The Concord2 got Root via Kingo.Root.. Easier to achieve SuperSu changeout
