Where Are My Text Message Files?

Hello Folks:

I want to copy some text messages from my Galaxy 15 to my PC.

I've done a search online. The first three sites I found said for recent versions of Android the texts would be in the phone in:

/data/user_de/0/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db

Using the phone's My Files or my PC's File Explore through the USB cable, there is no directory named "data" at the root of the search.

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but I don't know if these messages are SMS, MMS or RCS, if that makes a difference.

How do I get to these texts?

Thanks
Larry

Turn your phone into a beautiful, live sound level meter.

NoiseCraft shows how loud your world really is – from quiet rooms and offices to busy streets, concerts and roaring engines. Watch the arc gauge, follow the history graph, set custom alerts, and tune the app to match your microphone and your ears.

Real-time dB meter for everyday use

NoiseCraft uses your phone’s microphone to estimate sound level in decibels (dB). It’s perfect for:
* Checking how loud your environment is.
* Comparing traffic noise on different streets
* Monitoring music volume in your car or studio
* Keeping an eye on loud tools, machines or appliances
* Seeing how noisy a café, bar, gym or club really is

Everything is shown in a smooth gauge plus a scrolling graph, so you can see how the sound changes over time.

️ Clean gauge with live categories

* Elegant semi-circular gauge that moves like a car speedometer.
* Color gradient from cool blue to hot red as the sound gets louder
* Big, readable current dB display in the center
* Live Min / Avg / Max values so you see how the noise evolves
* Instant noise categories, such as:
---- Very quiet
---- Quiet room
---- Conversation / Office
---- Busy street
---- Very loud
---- Dangerous

The current category is highlighted in color, so you always know where you are on the loudness scale at a glance.

History graph & acoustic trends

NoiseCraft keeps a time chart of the sound level:
* Smooth line chart of recent dB values
* Adjustable Y-axis range (e.g. focus on 40–100 dB)
* X-axis in seconds, so you see how noise changes over time
* Great for comparing different rooms, windows, doors, or microphones

Perfect for audio enthusiasts, musicians, DJs, podcasters, streamers and acoustics nerds who want more than just a single number.

Smart noise alerts & thresholds

* Stay in control of loud environments:
* Set your own dB threshold (e.g. 80 dB, 85 dB, 95 dB…)
* When the level goes above the threshold, you can enable:
Sound alert
Haptic vibration

Use it to remind yourself to turn the volume down, close a window, move back from a speaker, or take a break from the noise.

️ Fine-tune your microphone & smoothing

Not all microphones are the same – so NoiseCraft lets you calibrate and smooth:
* Mic gain slider (–10 dB to +10 dB) to adapt to your device
* Smoothing slider to choose between ultra-responsive or calmer readings
* Optional calibration offset, so you can match another meter or your own reference

This makes NoiseCraft more useful for relative measurements (before/after, here/there, this setup vs that setup).

Themes & customization for audio geeks

Make the app match your style and your setup:
* Light, Dark, or System theme
* Choose your needle color for the gauge
* Choose your category highlight color
* Choose your graph line color

Whether you’re using NoiseCraft on a phone, tablet or in landscape mode on a stand, the layout adapts for a clear, studio-style dashboard look.

Share your sound snapshots

Want to show someone how loud it really is?
* Share text summaries (current / min / max / average dB)
* Share a screenshot of the gauge and history graph

Great for sending to friends, neighbors, building managers, bandmates or colleagues.

⚠️ Important disclaimer

NoiseCraft is designed for convenient, everyday noise awareness and relative comparisons.
It is not a certified professional sound level meter, and it must not be used for official, industrial, safety, medical or legal measurements.

Always follow your local regulations and protect your hearing responsibly.

If you love sound, music, acoustics and clean visual tools, NoiseCraft gives you a beautiful dB meter, history analyzer and alert system in your pocket.

How make contact widget?

Phone RealMe X8, Android 15. New.

In previous RealMe and Android, I could easily create "widgets" (i.e. shortcuts) to the home screen showing selected contacts. One widget for calling, another for text messaging. Now, I cannot figure out to create the same.

So far, the only option afaik is to press an empty space on home screen and the option to create a widget pops up. I select that, then on all available widgets, I scroll down to contacts. There, there's two options. Either to create a widget containing four of my favourite contacts (which means I have to open contacts and tap on the star to the right of the contact I deem as a favorite...gah!!!). If I do so, these four contacts appear in a narrow "frame", so small that the huge "icons" (why so damn big?) for each of the contacts don't fit. All I can see at first is a tenth of one of them. No way to expand the "frame".

The other option in the widget section is to select a single contact and have that as a widget on home screen. Fine. But the widget then displays a huge "icon" (i.e. a photo of the contact or the first initial of the contact's name) as mentioned above.

In previous phone with Android 12 or 13, I simply open contacts, held down finger on the contact I wanted on home screen, and slid it left or right (I'm lying. Actually I had to first select the phone symbol, slide that, and then select the message symbol and slide that too.

But then, I had shortcuts on my home screen for calling or messaging the few contacts I normally need to contact.

Sorry for elaborate text. But I really miss this feature and would very much appreciate if anyone could steer me in the right direction to achieve it.

Cheers,
Dan

For the longest time..

My lock screen's clock is acting like an etch-o-sketch, it tends to jitter all the places whenever it wants to, I just did a factory reset a spell ago, and I am just wondering if there was a third party app for it, something of where I can prevent an accident of letting it jitter down, most of the time it is centered, but it drops all the way down a lot of times towards the bottom, with or without notifications on it, cell is an motorolla edge 2022.

Samsung Samsung Galaxy S24 - How to transfer data from Windows PC

I have had many Android phones, including several Samsungs, and have always been able to copy files from my Windows PC.

However, just got an S24 and I am struggling!

I connect it to the PC with a USB cable and nothing happens. Normally, the PC would recognise it and offer some options.

I can go into the phone settings and under "USB Settings" I can see "USB Controlled by" with 2 options "Connected device" and "This device".

There are also options under "Use USB for" and one of these is "Transferring Files / Android Auto", but all the options are greyed out and cannot be selected.

I am guess I need to do something else - can anyone point me in the right direction, please?

Thanks

*UPDATE* Sorted - it was the cable!!!!!

  • Question Question
Amazon v. Game Day

We want to watch the game tonight but it's on amazon and who has that? It's a real shame how they're allowed to take something as basic as being able to view football away from people. Is there some other way to catch it for free, possibly on a regular channel? The only alternative I know is to go to a bar, but that costs money, too.

Xapk wtf

Somebody I know lost his phone and I'm trying to help him find it. The number was called but it just went to voicemail. I have downloaded 2 of those find my device things but I can't get either of them to work. I also got an installer for xapk files. It was able to find the xapk but still no luck. Then I tried getting the find hub xapk. It's installing forever, I guess. We don't have a lot of time to waste on this nonsense. By the way, I also went to the cricket (his carrier) website and had a "conversation" with probably a bot. That was just as useless as expected. Can somebody PLEEZE help us find his phone? It's a Samsung low end but what's affordable.

Northern Lights 2025

The Northern lights were visible in Wichita Ks last night. Naturally, I missed the very rare occasion. There is a great chance that they will be visible tonight as well. It is due to an unusual coronal ejection of the sun. I'll be in place to grab a few pics if the lights make it this far South tonight. If you live in a Northern state, take advantage of your location and grab some pictures to share... please To see the lights have always been on my bucket list!

Music keeps playing on Pixel 8 after disconnecting from car

When I leave my car and Android Auto disconnects, music automatically switches from the car speakers to my Pixel 8 and keeps playing on the phone. I don't want that and it didn't used to do that. I just want playback to stop completely when I exit the car.

I’ve checked Android Auto settings (there's no “resume media” option) and the Google Assistant settings (there's no “Media continuity” option either).

Is there any hidden setting or workaround to disable this behavior without using Tasker/MacroDroid?

Some details:
- Phone: Pixel 8
- OS: Android 16
- App: Android Auto
- Car: 2019 BMW X5 (xDraive40i)

Thanks!

  • Question Question
Just say NOOO to Pizza Hut

Last night we were watching the games and somebody got the bright idea to order a pizza and some wings. As the one who knows how to operate such things, I was pressed into service as the caller. By that time he was drunk and somewhat more easily annoyed than usual. I had to do some translating ("onion", "extra cheese"). Then I was the order grabber. I'm not sure who actually delivered as the stuff was just sitting there. I did notice that it didn't seem to be much for the price (almost $45 not counting the tip). It was close to 25 for the pizza, a medium meat lover with a couple more ingredients. The wings were more than $9 (8 boneless), and the big bottle of soda above 4.50. Quality was not that great and I'm not sure about how long it took. Anyway long story short is quite a while before next time. Eating there would have been out of the question because they still do that pandemic stuff such as having the drivers hanging out where people could eat. Some time ago I noticed that they no longer have the phone number on their sign. What's up with them? Didn't they used to be the gold standard?

Is old tablet worth anything?

Hello. I have an old Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T110) that runs Android 4.4.2. I believe I stopped using it around 10 years ago, maybe more.

I came across it in storage, and found that the battery is in amazingly good shape for a device this old. My first thought was to recycle it, but then I thought about how old it is, and by smart device standards, it may be considered practically "antique", or maybe "vintage", anyway?

It's definitely in worn condition, but the screen is intact: blemishes that you can just feel with your fingernail, but nothing worse. The rear camera lens looks pretty much pristine. I'm wondering if it might be worth anything to someone, or should I just go ahead with recycle?

Thank you for any advice.

Side note, just for fun. I don't visit this forum very often. My Home Wi-Fi Network is named "Earlybird"!

A52 + A54: How to improve or induce noise suppression while wearing hearing aids

This seems to be a complex topic. I use hearing aids, and the sound quality is excellent for me. BUT the people with whom I speak on the phone hear too much and/or too loud background noises. For example, papers wrinkling, television. There's no noise cancellation nor suppression as when using the phone alone.

There are articles on changing call settings on these Androids, but my two phones do not have them on Android 14.
This article did not help: 4 Ways to Enable Clear Calling On Your Phone (Android/iOS)

The only setting I could find is "hearing aid compatibility" and that is turned on.

Many users state that hearing aids don't have true noise suppression, so if this is a problem, use the phone, not the aids, for voice/talking. Again, what I hear is fine.

Anyone here know how to reduce background noise for bluetooth-attached hearing aids using a Samsung A54 cellphone?

Basically.

  • Question Question
2 Phones, share messages?

I have 1 Jitterbug Android phone, 1 Samsung Android phone. Each has a different number, and receives different text messages. I would like to have each phone receive calls only for the unique number, but have each phone receive the text messages for both numbers. How do I do that? Thank you.

Texting font size suddenly way too big. How to reduce size??

I have a Motorola moto g play. All of a sudden, the font size for text messages is very large. Much larger than I want. I did not mess with any settings. I restarted the phone, and it didn't fix it.

If I go to settings >Display>Display size and text and change the Font Size and Display size, it does not change the font size for text messages, but instead changes font size and display size broadly on the phone.

Did a convenient update change this?
