Bed, Bath & Beyond won’t open stores in California. Here’s why​

Bed, Bath & Beyond is opening stores again after filing for bankruptcy and closing all its stores in 2023, but there will not be any in California.

On Wednesday, Bed, Bath & Beyond’s executive chairman, Marcus Lemonis, explained why the company has decided not to open stores in the state.

“California has created one of the most overregulated, expensive, and risky environments for businesses in America,” he said in a statement.

Lemonis claims that the state’s “higher taxes, higher fees, higher wages” are unsustainable for many businesses.

“We’re taking a stand because it’s time for common sense. Businesses deserve the chance to succeed. Employees deserve jobs that last. And customers deserve fair prices. California’s system delivers the opposite,” he said.

California will still be able to shop at Bed, Bath & Beyond, but only online.

Lemonis said the company is investing in a “California strategy,” which will include same-day delivery, as well as 24- or 48-hour delivery.

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s Press Office said in a post on X that they “wish them well in their efforts to become relevant again.”

Bed, Bath & Beyond reopened its first store in Tennessee on Aug. 8.

I checked with Moto G support, and went with their "Software" fix. It checks your hardware, removes all installed apps, applies any android updates, and then re-installs all the apps. It took a while, but it gave me back almost everything I had as I had installed and arranged it, including nested icons on my home pages. Brilliant, because it eliminated all the stuff about dialling shutting the phone down.

The only apps it didn't re-install was a voip utility for sms from voip.ms . Voip.ms' s new free softphone app is a bug-free version of Groundwire, which I have used for years, which II swapped for VOIP.MS's free softphone. All my dialing problems have gone away, except one: I still need to enable speakerphone to hear and be heard, but the cellphone now stays on.

I am wondering if maybe I have a hardware problem. Any thoughts on how to check out the hardware without dis-assembling the phone?

and yes it is possible that your phone could have a hardware issue.

Hmm well uninstalling, restarting the phone, and then reinstalling didn't work.

I did send their Support an email. Given that I'm not a paid subscriber, I'm not sure how quickly they'll get back to me, or what they will offer. We'll see.

If anyone has any other troubleshooting tips, I'm all ears.

It this day and age, it does seem more than a bit odd, to receive something and also receive a paper bill. I can't imagine any company trusting they would receive a payment after delivery. The gamble of online consuming falls on the buyer and not the seller. You buy... they ship. That doesn't explain exactly what is going on but the red flag has been raised. I would definitely be contacting the shipper immediately.

The display was the major problem with the DJI drone I owned. The cradle on the controller to connect most all modern phones was two short. Putting the phone in airplane mode to avoid an interruption and trying to see the phone display in full sunlight also proved to be a problem. I finally sold / basically gave away my drone. It was fun but not entertaining enough for me.

That's part of what's cool about the Antigravity setup. Those goggles would be great...at least once you got used to it.

Those are app links so ocnbrz can put them on those silly glasses.

Certainly with all the other tricks, bells, and whistles the glasses have, to have an app to alert to the presence of ICE has got to be beneficial.

After all we can not have any of the friends or colleagues getting busted can we ?

I figured it cannot be undone, because it is part of the OS, but I also put my emergency contacts as well as, my info in case if thundercat's did me in, and had to show the paramedics.

The top of the cellphone, usually shows battery level, blue tooth et all.

Oh just a random photo of having different folder customizations for windows.

Different cables and also set up the phone link to your p.c. that will really help you out, as well as try to put on the USB activation menu for file transfer protocall.

Exactly, it's also what I use and recommend.

Yeah I kind of noticed when the Verizon girl said "Oh sorry we do not carry the curved screens anymore, we only carry flat screens..: Still adds in mm of the way you carry your cell though, I might go off the market and get a Samsung down the line..

Actually I have a problem with Messages on my phone: the colours it chooses are very low contrast, which for me is a both a usability and an aesthetic fail.

This is because of the way it uses my system colour palette and theme to set the app colours. It's actually perfectly fine on my wife's phone, but doesn't work on mine. It is better in light mode, and can be improved a bit by changing the phone's palette, but I prefer dark mode and don't want to re-theme my whole phone just for one app, so in practice it just doesn't work for me.

You can actually change icons in your app drawer with Nova (or at least Nova Prime - so long since I used free Nova that I can't remember). Just long press on the icon, select edit, choose an icon. In fact if you change the icon in the app drawer it also changes it everywhere else.

I've never had a problem with creating folders, but I prefer to create them in Nova's app drawer settings because that creates folders where I can give the folder a custom icon, nest folders inside folders, place them in the dock, and keep them in an app drawer tab. Very, very much more flexible than the ad hoc "drag a couple of icons on top of each other to make a folder" approach that most launchers provide (including Nova).

In the end it was almost complicated to set the scroll bar colors with other colors as well..
But over all it was pretty decent until it crashed a bit on my moto edge cell..
