Is there any way to prevent spam calls from ringing on a Pixel 8?

I do not answer calls from a number not in my directory. I haven't answered an unknown number in over a decade. I don't cut the call short, I just let it ring. I'll give a voice mail a look but rarely is any left. I get maybe two unknown calls a week.
I rarely ever get any calls from outside my contacts list. After the Boss Lady had her surgeries I'd get calls from the doctor, hospital, etc, and they'd come through. My call filter blocks known spam calls automatically.

Brain Fart of the Day

Ah my brain fart of the day lately was,I forgot to check in with mom about my wifi service and she said it was about 95% used up, so no more streaming or anything, she does not knew I just factory reset my device oh only yesterday ... OOOPS, but I am glad I was able to back up my main apps and everything else, went super quick, so there was no waiting until it was riden over.. No wonder the wifi was spotty on my cell latey.

Fatalities 2025

I just learned that actor Pat Finn, probably best known from "The Middle," though also from story arcs on "Friends" and "Seinfeld" (and lots of other shows) died of bladder cancer on December 22nd. He was 60.

RIP, Mr. Finn, and thanks for sharing your talents and adding laughter to the world. Condolences to your fans, friends, family and loved ones.

Help Samsung A54, Android 14: How to have the phone announce caller ID to my ear phones?

Sorry for the confusing. Yes the pop-up screen appears, stays, and shows the caller, but the announcement through my bluetooth earpiece is only once and after the first ring. I'd like the caller to be announced more than once.
Best way would be check on your home screen's cellphone icon and acutally look at it.

Telegram to sd

app data is pretty small in comparison to say pictures or videos. you will hardly notice any difference....especially from a messaging app like telegram....unless you have hundreds of conversations you want to backup....so i doubt you will see any significant difference in storage space being saved doing so.

Air Fryer Cooking

I fried some french fries last night in the air fryer. I discovered there is a setting just for frying fresh cut fries and tried it. I've been frying them with a custom setting of 400° for 20 minutes. The factory setting of my air fryer had the temp at 450° for 20 minutes. I pulled the fries before the timer went off but I think they would have been fine if left for the full time. At least I didn't have to add time like before. Live and learn.... and trust the machine. :)

When did you buy your 1st fake Christmas tree?

We haven't had a real tree the last few years since they jumped so much in price, so we just have the pre-lit fake one visible through the front window.

I'm only coming back here because I watched a clip on YT about things changed by "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and one of them was that it had a devastating effect on the aluminum Christmas tree market. I can remember those awful things and I was glad to see them go, and even gladder now that I found out how much one of my favorite Christmas programs had to do with it. :)

Camera crash

yes he is referring to either a flash drive or sd card....especially sd cards. files can get corrupted quite easily on such devices.

or another option (which i know you do not like) is using google photo's to back up your pictures like i do. i never ever have to worry about my pics. i still have photos from 20 years ago stored there!!!!!
Oh I have my ps3 for that same reason.

Kidney Stones

The removal of the stent was indeed a no big deal. He advised that there might be some passing of blood and discomfort but was more of a might happen more than a will happen advisory. My wife made out on the not really a problem side. A bit of upset stomach following the procedure and some discomfort in her back. Both passed over night and she felt herself the following day.

Christmas 25

On topic:
I got a new ear, nose hair clipper I aboslutely adore been using it for at least six trimmings, it is really amazing and it does not do much harm to my face.
Also got a google play card from my buddy, who is dating my mother like forever, and I get to watch Twisted Metal, Nightmare before xmas, as well as Batman year one and 9 (movie that is also directed by Tim Burton, I had it on blu ray, but my ps3 did not work around with the blu ray system update, so I cannot watch any of my blu rays grr.. ) That was worth the wait, been so many years since I have seen 9.
This reminds me i need a new electric clipper set

One UI 8.0 - Notification shade stuck and Gallery maps not loading

No, no, my friend, you are completely missing the point.

My problem is that the notification panel/top menu won't slide down. What does moving my photos to a computer have to do with a UI hardware-gesture bug?

If you are suggesting this just to help me prepare for a factory reset: photos are the least of my worries. I already back them up via USB to my PC. That’s just 'copy and paste.'

My real issue is that I have hundreds of specialized apps with custom configurations. I manage 3 businesses and 3 different areas of study simultaneously from this device. Reconfiguring all that professional environment is a nightmare that no 'Smart Switch' can fully fix.

So, again: the photos are not the problem. The problem is a broken interface after the update.
Merry Christmas.
