What Chrome-native://new tab/ is ???

Hi there, chrome://newtab/ and chrome-native://newtab might appear on your Google Activity screen if you're a regular Google Chrome user on the Android OS. This definitely does not mean that someone is trying to get access to your account. This just signifies that while using Chrome you had accessed its New Tabs. Most of the URLs like chrome://version, chrome://settings, etc. are all related to Chrome and are used to access its different inbuilt pages. For ex: chrome://settings will take you to the Settings page for the Chrome browser where you can customize it according to your needs, and chrome://version is used to find out the current version of chrome you're using. There is really nothing suspicious about chrome-native://newtab or any other URLs that might look like this. Hope this answers your question if you've any other doubts do ask them in a reply.

Airpods Pro Note 9

Here's the situation:

Brand new Apple Airpods Pro

Samsung Galaxy Note 9, most recent software

The headphones connect via bluetooth fine, play music, pause, skip, all that just like they're supposed to, but when I long press the button on them, it launchs Google Assistant, instead of turning on and off Active Noise Cancelation. I've already tried a couple third party apps and those didn't fix it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Aeroit

If you were using the Apple Airpods with an Apple iPhone, that would activate Siri. And Google Assistant is Android's equivalent of Siri. I've got Huawei Freebuds and Sony headphones, and the long press on them can be reconfigured to toggle Noise Cancellation, using the Huawei and Sony apps respectively. And I think Apple will only support reconfiguring Airpods if you've got an iPhone.

Web filter

The best thing I can think of to give the results you desire would be a browser with an ad-blocker, that also allows you to change the ad-blocking host.

This 'host file' can be changed to a list that blocks adult content, gambling, and other content of your choice.

I know that you stated you did not want an additional app, but believe you me, if your browser does not already have this feature, then you need a different browser anyway.

My personal recommendation for a browser would be Lightning.

Lightning (Lightweight web browser) - https://f-droid.org/packages/acr.browser.lightning

Another method, although more difficult to implement initially, is to use an app called Blokada.

It will use the same type of host file blocking, but will be global- meaning it will be effective over all apps on the device- not just the browser.

Blokada 5 (Block annoying and intrusive ads while browsing or in your favourite apps.) - https://f-droid.org/packages/org.blokada.fem.fdroid

A bit less difficult to get into is a firewall, that yet again uses the host file system of blocking.
Netguard is a great firewall.

NetGuard (A simple way to block access to the internet per application) - https://f-droid.org/packages/eu.faircode.netguard

The hostfiles you would need to block adult and other undesired content can be found on github.com

Al of these apps can use the same hostfiles.

The browser approach will work without needing to use the VPN protocol, which makes it by far the easiest to use.

Help Sound Mapping/Sound Training

I am looking for an app that can map an audio stream to another. The idea is to have two audio streams. The primary audio stream should be remapped to sound like the secondary audio stream. For instance, if the primary audio was an electrical buzz and the secondary was speech of the word "Hello", then every time the primary audio receives the electrical buzz sound, it should play the saved speech audio of the word "Hello" captured when recording the map thereafter.

Thanks!

Like double recording taped ontop of each other? Could you at least youtube something here, so people can really know what you are thinking?

Copy app to another phone?

Here I go again, breathing life into a dead thread.

You need to extract the apk of the app, and then send it to the other device.
Since it is a built in app, it may or may not be compatible with the new device.

Here are the apps that will allow you to do this in a simple way...

Apk Extractor (Get APK files from installed apps) - https://f-droid.org/packages/axp.tool.apkextractor

NitroShare (Cross-platform network file transfer) - https://f-droid.org/packages/net.nitroshare.android

Help Binaural/3D Audio

Not sure if this is what you want, but in my mind what you are asking for is 'virtual surround sound'.

There are many apps that can deliver some form of this, but I am picky about sound quality and app quality as well.

I use quite a few different audio apps on my devices, but there are two that stand out to me as what may suit your needs.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noozxoidelabs.eizo.rewirep

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noozxoidelabs.eizo.rewirepro

These apps are small enough to have both on your device at the same time.

Doing this will allow you to have six different audio presets saved (3 per app) to use on three different audio sound sources.

Remember that Android will only allow one audio enhancement app to run at a time, so the other(s) must be turned off before you start another.

Keep in mind also that the system in Android that maintains the 'only one audio app' protocol can get (for me, it is often) confused and malfunction, causing none of them to have an effect.

If this occurs, turn the apps off, and then restart the device and try again.

Access Dots

It was part of an article in USA Today (yeah, I know). I think it's an app. What exactly is the difference between an app and a widget?
a widget is part of an app that you can interact directly on the home screen. for instance you can have a weather widget that tells you the weather or you can have a espn widget that shows you the score of a sporting event without having to launch the app.

Links Appearing in SMS Messages

Tks pete. There's loads of web hosting sites, so what determines which one it directs me to?
anytime an address is used but does not exist, a page will appear asking if you want to use a web hosting site to be able to make that address work. people will do this to see if that web address is taken or not. your browser is making a suggestion for you. so any web hosting site be displayed is direct to you if you select it from your messaging. it is as @kate is suggesting to you.

just ignore it and you are fine.

My note10+ touch screen acting weird help

well if a factory reset does not work then we can almost rule out a software issue. the only other way to rule out software is to try and flash a firmware update. if that does not work then we can fully rule out software and can most likely predict that it is a hardware issue.

to flash a firmware update you can go to sammobile and flash the update from there. just make sure that you get the correct firmware update specific for your exact model. sammobile will provide directions on how to install it using odin.

or you can try frija to downoload the correct firmware, you will then need odin to flash the firmware.

Help Trying to get Guardian Connect to work with Bluestacks

This app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.medtronic.diabetes.guardianconnect.us

Based on the reviews, that app has terrible compatibility issues in general.

Unfortunately I don't think it will work, that app uses your phones Bluetooth:

And Bluestacks does not support Bluetooth connections:

Oh ok, that's quite unfortunate, thank you though.

Anyone play this?

The Eyes of Ara is a hard point-and-click adventure game. There are a couple of (very fair) reasons its hard, and I recommend it if you are looking for an above-average challenge. First, while it's not any sort of hidden object game, it is a massive pixel hunt.
Agree, though I made it through only needing a tip here and there. You can turn on a feature where things will flash after a certain amount of time it is clickable. I found figuring out what number base was being used for the equations harder than finding what to click. I have a couple coins and photos to find to complete the game.

I'll play it again.

Slow connection when in sleep mode

My Motorola G6 plus with android9 will not respond to the video bell or PIR connection when asleep. The instant the phone wakes up the the phone responds to the bell/PIR which may be up to ten minutes after the actual connection. What I have read so far suggests it is a problem with android being slow in checking for new information on this and other apps - an interval of ten minutes or so. Is there any way to speed up the rate of checking for new messages/information when in sleep mode? Thanks, Dave.

Root Phone keeps rebooting on Volume Up + Power (trying to install ROM)

I tried to install Android's ROM and got ERROR 7, then I wiped out cache, data, internal storage, where was twrp.apk installed.
After that I cant get into boot menu (with Install, Wipe... buttons).
Then I copied twrp to the phone:
sudo fastboot flash recovery <twrp.img>
Tried versions 3.2.1-0 and 3.4.0-0, because I heard for certain phone (I have Xiaomi Mi4) it's necessary to use proper version, though I don't know which.

What's going on now: I can successfully can get to the nice splash screen using Volume Down + Power, then on my PC I give sudo fastboot reboot command and press Volume Up + Power and here is the problem: It has no effect, it just keeps rebooting (I see only Xiaomi's logo).
