Suddenly disconnected from Internet

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised by that. We're lucky there haven't been more outages, I guess. At least the problem has been fixed, for now. As for 4 or 5 g, I have neither, just wifi, hence the critical importance of restoring the link. I might end up getting hooked, if only to avoid borrowing a "real" phone to report the problem and have somebody take care of it.

Retro Games - Sega, Nes, PS1 and others

The Dreamcast was a great console, unfortunately the infrastructure for online gaming wasn't there yet.
NFL 2K was so much better than anything Madden had at the time.
FWIW though, Phantasy Star online had the same moniker there as well as Dot hack series, sure it was a check in the game the message fourms you get form playing in the game, without an online connection, same as PSO.

Shiloh Battlefield

This is just fascinating. I went to Shiloh many times during my cub / boy scout days.

Google Is anyone here a Google Pixel user that can help?

Hi, what exactly is your problem ?
I worked through a lot of it, but right now I am trying to figure out what, if anything, "Turn off at 90%" (Battery saver turns off when battery reaches 90%) does. I know what the words mean and what it says it does, or is supposed to do, but when it is enabled, I am not seeing anything happen.

The Drone Thread

so apparently the US has classified DJI as a chinese military company.

and law makers are looking to crack down on how chinese companies can circumvent an upcoming bill that would halt any new DJI products in 2025. basically DJI could find a 3rd party and allow them to make and sell a version of their drones and software. the article references a Utah company, Anzu Robotics that are making their version of DJI drones along with "their" version of dji's software.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/lawmakers-call-for-crackdown-on-dji-drone-clones-as-ban-looms/ar-AA1pvri7?ocid=msedgntp&pc=ASTS&cvid=6c7f1a551f384afb8e498bcb7bdebdd6&ei=107

i'm curious to see how it all plays out, if the DJI ban goes into effect next year.

Pc to android

Idrive. If I use smart switch I don't know if the files and folders will get dumped where they were originally.
iDrive apparently offers several levels of backup services, with the free level being limited and other pay-for levels with more features when you pay more accordingly.
Which level do you have on your phone? Which level does your wife have on hers?
The free and personal levels are restricted to one user, the Team and above levels allow more.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra

I've had the Galaxy Watch Ultra for a month, so I wanted to give a real-world review of living with it.

Yes, it's phenomenal. Does just about everything from tracking sleep and steps; to giving me notifications; to making & taking phone calls; managing my music player; to serving as a remote control for the phone's camera (not only can I switch between photo & video, I can actually pinch-zoom the camera in and out and double pinch to start/stop). It even tells me what time it is!

I've banged it against things pretty hard, too, with no damage.

However, I'm not sure how Samsung expects users to get a week of use from a charge without power saving mode - which effectively kills the background processes. If someone has the SIM option and is on a hike, not worried about sleep tracking and just needs the watch to last as long as possible, that may work out. I generally top off the charge daily... although I could MAYBE get 3 days' use out of it with my usage.

If the whole world didn't have my phone number and can contact me, it might be worth having the SIM option so I can leave my phone at home for shorter trips when it's still nice to make a call (like to the Darling Bride, asking her why she added flour to the shopping list when we have flour).

No regrets on the watch, though: and Samsung's $350 trade-in offer on the Watch 5 Pro made it a no-brainer. I highly recommend it to someone who might be interested in it: just wait until Black Friday to get the best deal.

Android 13 Security locks workaround

Are there any known ADB bridge commands for me to try. I used one that helped in controlling themes.
ADB commands are well documented on the web. But it's not clear precisely what you want: what "restricted settings" do you want to change? Is "restricted settings" DooGee's name for Developer Options, or is it something else? Your first post talks of the 3 dot menu being gone from "the app" but doesn't say which app. Without knowing precisely what you want to do it's hard to suggest anything more than "look at the adb documentation and see if there's anything that looks helpful".
But I need an Android 13 expert to give me good tips.
Or you might need a DooGee expert. There are always differences between "android X" and "manufacturer Y's software based on android X for device Z", and people commonly assume that when a feature changes with an update it's an Android change when very often it's a manufacturer change that comes in the same update (as manufacturers often change their UIs at the same time).

Junk Mail

They are chatty. I have United Health Care advantage plan. They are the worst at filling my box with trash.
I don't see myself getting anywhere near an Advantage plan, BUT in some states where they have minimal copays and minimal annual maximum out of pocket expenses, I would consider it. My state is like most states. Lots of out of pocket. SoCal, Florida and Oregon are three states that I know of that have good Advantage plans.

Help Is it safe to use no reviews app?

If you have more than one you are never sure...
Since meteorologists are never right anyway there is no 'sure'.
Some have better alerts or radar or features or layouts than others so all combined I have the equivalent of one good weather app for the five locations I watch. Besides, I just can't help myself!

Troubleshoot screencast of Moto G 5G

Not wirelessly unless you go the chromecast route. You can try hooking a USB to admit cable to the tv.
I'd check that the Moto supports USB to HDMI before buying the adapter (we know the TV has HDMI in, but that's all we know for sure so that's how I'm assuming you'd have to connect it).

A Chromecast requires an HDMI port to connect the dongle to and a mains socket to power the dongle.

Google deciding to drop support for an open standard in favour of their own proprietary one was a very Apple move, but it does show that these companies are all much the same.
