In my day ...

A google moment: The money-related definition of two-bit makes its etymology obvious: it is derived from the noun phrase two bits. However, two bits is an interesting phrase because it actually means "the value of a quarter of a dollar." There is no such thing as a single bit, at least not anymore. The now-obsolete Spanish dollar (also known as a peso or piece of eight) was composed of eight reales, or eight bits, so a quarter of the dollar equaled two bits.
I thought eight bits were a Byte (Plus a ninth parity bit)

Outdoor Projectors......the Nebula Mars 3 is the best!!!!!!

New tech to me.. I think the huge advantage to an indoor theater would be controlling the environment, lighting, and acoustics.

I remember the first theater I did. I was back putting on cabinet hardware and the owner invited me down to the theater to watch some speed boat races and a drink. I was impressed with the quality of the projected show but blown away by the audio. Maybe it was the Jack and water but it sounded like those boats were racing around the theater.
yes that is correct....there is a reason why movie theaters still go with projectors rather than a large led screen. some of those indoor projectors for the home are just mad crazy in price......so far no issues with my projector. it does have an issue with not auto keystone. keystone is a feature that some projectors have. they use ai so that when you put a projector not perpendicular to the screen (like at an angle or side of the screen), the ai can adjust the image so that it looks normal. my projector sometimes does not do it automatically. i usually have to turn it on and off a few times to get it to adjust.

Humble apologetic confession, and a question

For those keeping track at home, this is the link I primarily used: Switch from an iPhone to a Pixel phone - Pixel Phone Help

I did turn off imessage and facetime (never used it) as in the instructions before I did anything else.
In my case I left the iphone active and fired up the new pixel. After a few initial setup screens it asked about another device, so I went through the steps, I had a C to Lightning cable and my real concern was that the iPhone was so old (6S with IOS 15x) that it might not work or worse, would damage something. But it mostly went flawlessly. It even moved over (well, reinstalled) my apps, which was a great benefit. All my text history is there, as well as my contacts. I was also able to reuse my physical sim, after I got everything copied over I put the pixel in airplane mode, swapped the nano sim into the pixel and waited about a half-minute and turned off airplane mode.

The only thing that didn't work well was all of the info I had in the iPhone "Notes" app, which came over to the "Keep" app in the android. While they are kind of there, they are just a mess, mostly completely worthless. But I can live with that.

I also have a steep learning curve, having been off the android platform for way too long.

Easter Weekend

Got a cute hosting plant from my sister, only requires mist and air to survive.
We exchanged gifts, I got her yogurt covered pretzels and jelly bellys,
we had Ham with asparagus wrapped in bacon, with mash potatos and pianana salad for Easter Dinner.

Starlink

I just checked the prediction map. There are no good visibility windows listed for the next five days. I anticipate cloudy skies most of next week anyway with all the rainy days predicted. I've learned that patience is definitely a useful virtue when trying to observe space. I'll catch one of these reflection sessions eventually.

Favorite Coffee

We are bigger tea snobs than coffee snobs. We buy our loose tea at a spice shop down town. We buy our teas a pound at a time so it isn't a weekly or even monthly purchase. The store is also the outlet for great coffees and we often will buy a pound of Kenya AA when purchasing teas. The aroma of their freshly ground coffees is to die for. We grind our own but the aroma of that coffee is worse than popcorn wafting through a theater when we are there to buy tea. It's impossible to not buy some.

Samsung Fold/Flip 6 & S24 series One UI 7.0 rollout halted by Samsung

I stand corrected. Yep, that's a BAD flaw: fortunately for the Darling Bride and me, neither of our S24 Ultras exhibit this problem. One would think, however, that with more than 16 weeks of beta testing, such a critical bug would have been identified and fixed quickly. That leads me to believe that the final firmware is something other than the beta 6 we tested.
