also i would recommend you use google photos for your pictures. it automatically uploads your photos to the cloud. i never have to worry about my photos or videos. i can even take a photo on my phone. hop on my computer and my photos will be there. i do not have to hook up any cords or anything. it is all done via wifi.

it is a system file....nothing to look at here....move along.

I have a pile of Asus Tablets (ME172V) that have Android 4.1.1 (max) installed on them (donated to our tiny private school by a university).

I'm developing a primitive browser app (locked to one domain) for school use, and I'm implementing the WebView component in Android Studio to do so.

Due to the age of the Android OS, the WebView component does not seem to support certain modern CSS functionality. This is causing me some serious issues.

I want to know if there's a way to manually "update" that functionality in place, by itself (just the WebView component). Is there are way to do this without needing to update the entire OS (which is probably impossible given the age of the tablets)?

From what I understand, the license is needed to upgrade the firmware that supports new phones. You'd better buy one with license remaining valid or ask the seller whether your phone model is already supported.

Go to your phone's settings and click on battery, then scroll down and you'll see a list of apps consuming battery and approximate consumption.

There are also apps on the play store that monitor battery usage.

Years ago, when I was very active there, it had turned into a clique-ish, holier than thou, unwelcoming cesspool. They treated newbies like morons. And the funny thing--in my UNIX-since-1985 book--was that THEY were newbies, too! These were like 1- or 2-year Ubuntu users, self-proclaimed as Linux gods. Their treatment of new users really turned me off. That was...I don't know, maybe 10 years ago. I'm glad to hear it's friendly now.

Good post, though. If windows people who use and love Android just made the mental leap, they could be happily humming along in an all-Linux world like I am.

The same author as in the OP explained in another article 5 reasons you should switch from windows to Linux right now. I recommend reading it for anyone sick of windows, or just wanting a better OS.

Well if it was just a software issue, I don't think you'd be buying a new phone. This is a hardware failure, repair or replacement required.

Yeh, like getting on the wrong international flight, and that has happened.

I did end up in the wrong city once, when I fell to sleep on a train and missed my stop. That was in the UK, was supposed to in Cheltenham, but I was in Birmingham.

Yeah, and there's that. The latest I was able to get on my A855 was Gingerbread, 2.3.7 and it really sucked and struggled. That is part of why I do not really look to 'update' my devices to the latest version of Android past the one that was on it when it got released. Heck, my Nexus 6 (retired) is still on Lolipop.

If it's a 4k UHD TV 48" -72" send it to me and I'll put it into a "commode"

Thanks for putting me straight. I don't know how that happened but can agree with you about YouCall. As I've now dealt with it by killing off voicemail, I'll let things stay as they are and avoid having to have yet another app. Thanks anyway,
