Allowing for the fact that, as per my initial screenshot, I only received the update 2 hours ago, I have only just been able to begin testing but early results are looking good for zoom and video stabilization is looking better.

Help restoring sms using .xml backup?

Hi, I am using android phone "Elephone S7" and couple of days ago I did Factory Reset my phone and took its SMS & Call Backup via the App that I was using. Now the problem is this that after Resetting my Phone when I download the SMS & Call Backup App again and tried to Restore the Backup an error occurred that "the restore file is not supported". When I check the file extension of the Backup file extension is "XML" and previously I took the Backup that file was "VMSG" extension. Please suggest what should I do to restore my back up.

Looking for privacy and security APP

I'm looking for one (multiple) app to use on a public Android device:
** Do the service automatically at each boot;
1-Block app opening by password;
2-Block the installation and uninstallation of app, releasing only updates;
3-Clear data and cache from all app.

1 and 2 -- Implement Parental Control, it's in your Settings menu

Or look at Google's Family Link for more functionality:
https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/1075738?hl=en
There are a lot of third-party alternatives too, a lot of them are pay-for apps that provide a lot more enhanced services.

3 -- Why do this? It accomplishes very little. Clearing app caches on a regular basis will only open up a few MBs of storage space and on only a temporary basis. Apps need their caches to function so every time your wipe them, every time you use that app it has to rebuild its missing cache anyway. Basically, it's just unnecessary micromanaging. Wipe an app's cache when there's an actual problem to address.
As for clearing an app's data, that's also not a recommended thing to do. Clearing data of an app returns the app back to its original, first time used state. Doing what you're stating will involve you having to a) reset any changes to the app's Settings menu and b) manually enter your user name and password. So just as an example, every time you want to do something as basic as check your email, when you start up the email app you have to enter your email address and password; every time you want to check you calendar you have to enter your email service account name and password, and wait while the Calendar app loads your online account data; when you want to check for any text messages you'll need to enter your email service account name and password into your Contacts app, then configure your text messaging app, presumably linked to your phone number (they won't be received automatically since if you wipe data for all apps they're all inert.). You need to do this with every app that relies upon an online service each time you use an app. Don't wipe app data, unless there's an actual need to do so.

Smartphones, all of them, are by design intended to be sharing devices. The problem is a lot of the company's that maintain the online services we use tend to take advantage of the data they collect. Really, if you want real privacy and security, don't use a smartphone and reduce your online presence to an absolute minimum. But even that won't protect you completely. Living off the grid isn't easy and takes a lot of research to accomplish (...and it helps to have the financial resources to get to that point.)

Help I cant update to EMUI 9.0 on my Mate 9

I have tried everything to update from emui 8.0 to 9.0 but every time it says I have the latest update. I tried using the Firmware Finder but I cant find how to change the DNS settings in my router's settings. Can someone please help. Thanks in advance.

If you want to alter your router's default DNS service, that's not a phone setting and it's completely irrelevant which version of your phone is currently running. You need to log into your router's setup/settings page and make your changes there.
That's also going to be dependent on your router.
-- If you have an ISP-supplied modem/router unit, there's a good chance the DNS options are locked and cannot be altered by the user (ISP's collect user traffic for marketing purposes and when you have to use your ISP's DNS servers, that's one of several they use).
-- If you have your own router, you need to access the router's settings, not your phone.
-- If you do own your own router, altering the router's DNS will affect all the devices connected to it. If you're using your ISP's modem/router, you can bypass your ISP's DNS by changing the DNS on all your devices, as this will take precedence. You might want to change your phone's DNS anyway as there will undoubtedly be times where you're using online access elsewhere besides your home WiFi. Or conversely, use a valid VPN service instead.

Help Automating app launch to pull the birds!

Regarding Tasker, here's a tutorial that might help:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/...ow-to-automate-almost-anything-on-your-phone/
Yes, it's something of daunting project to come to grips with. Don't focus so much on the end result, but approach this one step at a time. Get comfortable just using the app, then create a task of your own doing something simple, like just playing that audio file of Swifts. Then set up an automated profile so it plays on a schedule twice a day.
Oh, and note that ES File Explorer is primarily a file manager app, it's intended function is file and folder management. Any multimedia functionality (i.e. viewing photos, playing audio/video files) is incidental with a very limited feature set.
Also, what version of Android is that Nexus 10 tablet currently running? Use an actual multimedia app instead, something more appropriate for this purpose (a lot of third-party media players already include a function like playing a file repeatedly so it just loops over and over).

Change phone name?

Aha! The searching for "bluetooth" got me to an "About Phone" page, on which I could set the "device name". Had my wife bring her phone over - ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL Moto G7 - BOUGHT on the SAME DAY. Did the same thing with HER phone and on the "About Phone" page, NO PLACE TO SET THE DEVICE NAME... Same everything, build, dates, you name it.....
So, I tried doing the search for "device name" and hers found a page for System > About Phone (wasn't that where I JUST WAS?) on which we COULD set the device names.

SO, in future, when we're both in the car (as we were today) and both have our phones (as we did), we'll be able to tell WHO'S phone got connected...

Thanks for the help!
