How can I get apps?

Being connected to Wi-Fi and having internet are not the same thing, although a Wi-Fi network makes internet access much easier. However, as @Hadron points out: if the router you're connected with isn't connected to internet OR it isn't giving your device access to it, then it's like connecting a garden hose to a faucet and turning the handle - but unless that faucet is connected to the water supply, you ain't gettin' water. Try a different Wi-Fi network somewhere and see if that helps.

Android 10

Somehow it seems like you may be tapping something too slowly, or in the wrong place, when switching apps... and the phone thinks you're trying to select an app for multi-window (which would put one app in top or bottom half of the screen, allowing a second app in the other half).

Try going to Settings -- Notifications -- Overflow Menu (three dots upper right) and select Show system apps -- System UI and making sure that if notifications are turned on, Multi window is turned OFF. Back out and try it again. Let us know if that stops the pesky notifications.

Yeh, my S7(bought in the UK) doesn't have that. So it must be something that's only in carrier version S7s in the US?

my wifi mac address changed after reboot

AFAIK it is the same feature, although the actual methods used might be different, Android uses Linux kernel, and Windows 10...not a clue.

I'm sure all comparatively recent OSs have it, Android, Windows, Linux, MacOS, iOS, etc. As for Android 4.1, could be something the device manufacturer implemented on their own?

From the previously posted URL:
MAC randomization prevents listeners from using MAC addresses to build a history of device activity, thus increasing user privacy.
Hi I think this is implemented my device manufacturer. My wifi mac changes every time when I power on my device in stock os. Despite that, my bluetooth hardware address remains constant.

Help Trying to get all my data from LG -X410ASR to Viking Pro 2-in1

Hi folks, it's me again,
So I got fed up with that tablet, took it back and got another MUCH better Android, but version 9, same as my phone and after all that figured out how to transfer data through my Bluetooth....the other didn't have it I think, but.....now another issue...
I have 32GB storage on tablet and 32 SD card, so, plenty of room. The issue I'm having, I've Googled til I'm blue in the face and eyes foggy....I noticed that after I had installed all my usual apps, then put the shortcuts on the home screens, some were just disappearing...so after going through putting them back, stopped using the APKPure, and using Launcher3 (still not too sure why either is needed), it still happened. Then I realized it's ONLY apps that are stored on the SD card (I have it as default to save internal space).
I am beyond irritated now 🤔but read to try re-mounting the SD card then re-adding the apps, then rebooting the tablet.....all I can say now is :
#$&(%*$# (insert expletives!)
Can you help? I'm hoping this is some simple setting, because having to re-add the apps to the home screen every time I reboot it, is ridiculously stupid, and a pain in the a$$!!
Thanks, Diana

***Not to mention, my mind is pretty much out there right now, because I just lost my 14 1/2 year old furbaby, in a totally freak accident, who my son rescued at 6 months old, who was also my heart, my best friend and my world :(....

Help No emergency alerts setting on my phone?

I got woken up at 3am the other morning by an ear-piercing amber alert after I spent days having insomnia and finally was sleeping. I was beyond enraged. I tried looking all over my phone to find the setting on my Galaxy S7 Edge to turn it off, but NOOOOOOOO, couldn't find it anywhere. I then googled how to do it and read countless articles that kept saying go to this setting or that setting, which did not exist in any of the menus on my Galaxy S7 Edge phone. I then decided to call my carrier, Verizon, and ask them. For anyone going through the same hell, this is How to turn off Amber Alerts on the Galaxy S7 Edge: 1. Swipe up or down to display the gear icon to access SETTINGS 2.Navigate SETTINGS > CONNECTIONS> MORE CONNECTIONS SETTINGS (way at the bottom) 3.Tap EMERGENCY ALERTS 4.Tap the 3 dots in the upper right, then tap Settings 5.Tap ALERT TYPES 6. Do you use Maps reviews?

I'll go to a Maps review to see the interior photos of a cafe or other place. Google staff are half - assed about investigating a contribution to correct a relevant error (location /road access/times, closed down /moved). I removed all my reviews a couple of years ago (I was young and innocent) and ignore requests for reviews.

It seems a new thing is you take a photo of half your thumb and half a wall and later plops the photo on your screen saying "Add this to Google Maps for others to enjoy? " or similar

Network unavailable?

This is the reason I never rely on cloud backups: "the cloud" means "someone else's server", which means that it's only available as long as it suits that organisation to keep it going (or until they mess up, or decide to charge more, etc).

They can be convenient, but never make them your only backup of anything important.

(In the case of CM they will have trawled the backup for any data they could monetize, because that's how that company operates. Avoid them completely).
