MediaPlayer creates more than one buffer in SurfaceFlinger

Hello everyone, I have a problem in my app development

I'm currently developing video live wallpaper and I'm having some issue. The video plays well, I also release the video every time onCompletion is invoked. However, when the mediaplayer object is prepared (onPrepared called) or playing, there will be around 5+ allocated buffer in the surfaceFlinger
I got it by calling the "adb shell dumpsys SurfaceFlinger" command
The allocated buffer will be back to one after the mediaplayer object is released
The dumpsys output is attached

Is this behavior normal? Is there some articles where I can learn about it?

Any help would be very appreciated
Thank you

No Data Transfer via μ-USB Port

Hello All,
The micro USB port of my phone is a Motorola G4 Play (Harpia) has stopped working for a long time — no data transfer of any sort, no OTG, no ADB, no File-Transfer, nothing; only charging works. I thought it was the port to PCB soldering, so I re-soldered it. Didn't work. I changed the Charging PCB (https://www.maxbhi.com/charging-connector-flex-cable-for-moto-g4-play.html), twice. Neither worked. Now, my LCD is broken, so it is unusable beyond being a wireless hotspot or for receiving calls. I'm in a dilemma whether I should replace it (₹1000+ for spares) or give up & move to a 2G Basic Phone.
Can anyone help me figure out why the USB data transfer is not happening in my device? I'd really love to repair it.
Thank You.

Note: It is not a driver issue as I use Linux & lsusb doesn't show the device. It is not a ROM issue either since the same happens in TWRP and across the ROMs I've flashed.

New Game: Samurai Assassin (A Warrior's Tale) (Version 1.0.16)

Hi all guys who read this topic, I finally managed to create promo codes for my game, and I will give 10 first people one of the 3 promo-codes (30000 gold, 3000 diamonds or 10 lifes), what you need to do is to send me a picture of you, playing the game at level 10 of chapter one.

I will post the results of people who got the promocodes here, so you not think it's a scam.

Good Luck All ))

Sleep function after 30 secs, cannot be changed anymore?

On some (all of mine, anyway) devices, there is a setting somewhere in the Battery section of Settings that allows the user to allow the power saver mode to automatically engage at a certain battery level, like 15% or thereabout.

This (on mine) automatically is disabled when the device is connected to a charger, so in that case the setting would be off- but when off the charger the setting will be on.

This can also cause confusion.

Glad to have been of some help.
I could not find that particular setting... But good to know, thank you!

New to Smartphones - can not find MMS photos!

Hello again - may I ask another question please? I have now set up my G Mail on my Xperia and it works ok. I have set up a different notification tone since this forum showed me how and that is now ok but I can not understand thi problem..

When i receive an email and I look at it that is fine - however I keep getting bleeps for a new email maybe 3 or 4 times over an hour and when I open the mail it is the same email repeated with the original time of receiving it!

When I receive emails on my laptop they only appears once.

Is it perhaps because I read it but do not save it to a particular folder as I do on my laptop? Any ideas please.

Thank you all again

Help Why are unwanted apps always running in the background? Android flaw?

You need to distinguish apps have different functions and different purposes. An app that only does a singular task will only require it to be running in memory when needed. If it remains partially loaded into memory is a complete nonissue, but the fact is until you actually launch the app it's inert -- it is taking up storage memory space but not RAM. An app like an email client however will need to be running in memory when you are actually using it but in the background to periodically poll your email service's online servers. (and note a lot of email client apps do have settings so they won't check for new messages but that's another issue.) An app that's by design is required to run in the background is different than one that isn't, you can't lump all of them together just out of convenience to make some point.

Windows kept only system executable application in memory at all times, the Android version loads every application in my phone into RAM and even with the 4gb RAM and 32GB ROM the phone keeps slowing to a worse than 1gb RAM phone.

Happening now on my new Android phone and tablet.

Essentially it's the programming language syntax for memory use while executing the program in Windows or Application in Android which makes a difference.

If the memory use at the programming is lousy written it then sets the CPU central processing unit, into a loop , this slows down the phone or tablet PC significantly.

So if this occurred in a Windows computer it soon became obvious this was a bad written program and was uninstalled. However with all the apps loaded on startup in Android, even one poorly programmed app seems to be messing around with the operation of RAM, looping or constantly calling, as known in programming, to different modules inside the application programming code compilation. With 52 apps on the phone all in executive mode, it's a frustrating nuisance in slowing down the phone, and difficult to know which application is causing the issue.

My memory boost app, often clears up to four hundred or more Megabytes RAM application hogs.

One solution is Remove any unnecessary applications, Or if a sudden slowing occurred after a recent new Android application is installed try delete it immediately and see if the phone speed has improvement. Most applications are well written but not all applications. A way to get info is to see reviews before installing. If there is loads of complaints about slow process it could be a indicated problem, if millions of people have downloaded it then probably works well.

Help Need Help Rooting

For rooting your device, I recommend you use the kingroot app. It is one click root app. With this application, you can root your device easily without using any PC... :)
i would only recommend kingo root if it is the only way to root the device. if there other ways to do it, i always recommend that you do it, the harder way. this way you get to learn skills you would not have learned thru a simple app. plus if something goes wrong anything that you learned could help you troubleshoot the device fairly easily.

plus kingo root has the potential of installing adware. and kingo root can only root phones up to android 4.3....i think. the op has a tab A which is on android 8 so kingo root will not work on the tablet.

Dark mode with Substratum Themes

I'm sticking with stock Dark Mode until Synergy/Substratum Lite improves as every dark theme I have tried from there leaves me with a zebra crossing blac/white notification dropdown.

It will get there.

Now I just need to find a worthy launcher equivalent to Next Launcher. Nova is great but doesn't allow individual Icon changes. New topic time,

calendar app that does not use system account

Welcome to Android Forums, pbankuti! :)

I'm sorry no one's offered any suggestions yet...maybe your question threw everyone off. :o

I have no personal experience with this app, but I'm recommending it based on great comments about the developer's apps I've read from members I trust: Simple Calendar Pro. Please note that there is a free version, but it's no longer supported.

From its description, I think it may work for you, but no guarantees! :D

Help I need to replace preinstalled Sprint with Stock ROM

Different carriers rely upon different cellular networks so there are compatibility issues to take into account, especially here in the U.S. where we have very territorial, highly competitive carriers that are more focused on profit and their respective market shares than their customers.
https://www.phonearena.com/news/Che...on-T-Mobile-and-Sprint-use-in-the-USA_id77933

You referred to buying an 'unlocked' model but keep in mind there's a difference between the boot loader unlocked and carrier unlocked.
https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-carrier-unlocking-and-unlocking-a-bootloader
This phone is apparently a branded (Sprint) phone so its internal hardware configuration, specifically the cellular radio chip, is going to be fully compatible with Sprint's cellular network but it may or may not be the same with AT&T's cellular network. Keep in mind that ROMs are very device specific so if you flashed this phone with a ROM for a different model you need to re-flash with the correct ROM. Each ROM is created to match each model's hardware configuration, and each model has its own unique hardware components inside -- i.e. different processors, audio chips, radio chips, etc. Each ROM contains only the drivers, firmware, software to match with the hardware so using a different ROM is going to result in a mismatch of software and hardware. Simply flashing a different ROM, nor using a different SIM, will change a branded phone from one carrier to a different one -- in this instance the hardware
Sprint has moved more towards 4G/LTE so that's good for compatibility, but at the same time T-Mobile has recently bought it out so Sprint-specific phones are going to become obsolete in the near future.

Follower and Following tab

I really don't think followers mean much, tbh.
I don't even pay attention to, or use, the 'follow' feature here. I don't know why, exactly, but it's just unnecessary for me here, whereas on Twitter it's very important.

I think it's because of the way I use AF. I have my list of favorites, and use it to hop from board to board that I'm interested in. I rarely vary from that, only occasionally popping in on a different board for some reason. The people I would 'follow' always show up in my boards...so why follow them? :D

How to change notification sounds

Yes I tried your instructions and it didn't work. Once my phone updated so many things changed and now I have to learn new ways of doing things.
Okay. As I pointed out, your path may vary, but should be similar to:

System Settings | Apps & notifications | App info | [your app] | App notifications

Start in System Settings. From there, see if you can find something resembling 'app notifications' or just 'notifications.' If you can't...there's something very wrong! I know updates change some things, but eliminating one of Android's built-in features would be a new one on me!

If you want, post screenshots of your system settings. Maybe seeing them would help sort this out.

Help...phone virus!

I found something that had no name, uninstalled it, restarted phone and I think it took care of that popup!
Now to switch cards and test the wifi out! Got to stay more on top of these issues. I rarely used the phone online before, only other issues that I dislike is that if you dont update apps... things start to go haywire!
Question, anyone install Linux on Note3? Or do you recommend another OS? I like to have more control over my phone, mini pc...!

THIS!

This happened to me, as well.

I went so far as to duplicate how I found it, where it was located, and how to delete data vefore uninstalling it.

You would be amazed how many people do an entire factory reset just because of what you did instead.

The force is strong with you.

Android 10

Wondering if anyone has any idea when the new LG G pad tablet will get android 10? It has Android 9 now, and I have not used android in years because I couldn't stand gingerbread version and switched to iOS for my phone and tablet, only got this LG gpad the other day since my iPad pro needs to be repaired, AND the Apple store is closed in Chicago, but I have to say android 9 is very good AND it would be interesting to see if 10 is an improvement or not. I will probably never get an android phone again since i love my iPhone but i do not regret getting this tablet at all, it's a nice size, 10.2 inches, beautiful display, good audio, and seems really fast... Only had it since Saturday though so hopefully my opinion of it doesn't change. Just wish it could sync with the iPhone for sms text messages.
