Help Setting up restricted account on LG Nexus 5

And I just stumbled upon this: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/2865483. If I understand it correctly, it says that restricted profiles work only on tablets. That's very strange. Or am I misunderstanding this?
Parental Control and Guest Mode have been included in Android for the past several versions and should already be accessible in the Settings menu on that Nexus 5, if you have that phone in front of you check the Settings menu. Family Link will need to be installed from the Play Store, and is not limited to just tablets, works OK on phones too. (..and is getting included into Android 10 as a system-level service).

Samsung S10 internet first word always highlighted

When i open up Samsung Internet and start typing, the first word is always highlighted.
...
I am using swiftkey but have tried the samsung keyboard but i think it is a Internet browser thing as no other app has this issue.
So this only happens with Samsung Internet? What about other browsers--have you tried any? If not, try that and report back.

You can also clear the cache of your keyboard(s), but it doesn't sound like they're the source of the problem.

a question about alerts

I guess this whole post was wrong to have been started in the 1st place.
There's nothing wrong with what you posted. :)
I didn't mean that I was getting those kind of email replys via here.
I don't think anyone thought you meant those replies were originating here. You're fine!
I have gotten them via other web pages and leave it at that.
Hopefully, our suggestions will be useful.
My understanding of the term "sugar daddy" is a female that is looking for some male with lots of money to pay for there way into the USA from some foreign country. And when they get here, who knows what they are going to do.
It may mean that, but it has other meanings, too. In recent years the terms 'sugar daddy' and 'sugar baby' have come to mean men who pay young women for...well. that depends on who you believe! :o

I've seen some of these sugar babies on TV. To a person they insist that they're not doing anything of a sexual nature for these older men, yet are being kept in luxurious apartments, given fancy cars and money, and all they do is talk, and maybe escort them to parties, etc. Many of these women claim to be paying their way through college this way. Okey-dokey!

Rooting

Unfortunately, rooting is not as popular as it once was a few years ago. If you have a locked bootloader then perhaps this will be of interest.

Ps. I have a rooted device and thus haven't actually used either method. The second is a recent development and probably in alfa or bata testing. If at any point a factory reset is advised then be aware of FRP and always use good judgment. Good luck .

Email and Texts only update when phone is charging

It was rather strange but about 5 months ago, my email app would only ping that I had received an email when I plugged it into charge. When I do plug the phone in, I get usually around half a dozen to a dozen pings, and then while it is still charging it will ping me as it normally should. I didn't have much of a problem with this, but now it is also doing this with texts. Should I take it in to get it fixed or is this a software issue?

Easiest Windows Android Emulator For Particular Application

Actually, I have installed Genymotion and it is 'fairly' easy to install and it works great. When I tried to install Bluestacks, my virus software alerted me to at least one or two things it didn't like (I'm not saying they were viruses, but probably something in the background it doesn't like).

That could have been Bluestacks phoning home data to its servers in China.

Data use from removed Apps

S7, Adnroid 8.0 See image for full version data

Also image for data use...Data use from removed Apps?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

is it me being uber dumb? (wouldn't be the first time)

What's occourin?

To rephrase that, and hopefully make it clearer, :) It's data that was used by those apps BEFORE they were removed. But if they were installed during that period or billing cycle, like "1-30 Sept", their data use still counts towards the total. The system doesn't keep a list of removed apps.

Not able to sync an Exchange Account (Hotmail id) on Android phone since few days

I am using an Android 9 phone (Nokia 8) updated as on date. Have always used Hotmail id (added as an Exchange account on Android via the built-in Gmail App) as my Contact & Calendar data source. This was working fine all this while.

The sync of emails/contacts/calendar with my Hotmail id stopped few days back. Kept getting a system message "Update your Exchange account". On clicking, get a "Reviewing security policy ..." message. It tried to check something at the end of which I get an error message "Can't add account. Gmail's security settings are more secure than those set by your IT admin. Contact your IT admin for help." with two options "Remove account" and "Close". I clicked on "Close" few times and kept trying. I re-started my phone few times, but the issue persisted.

Then, for a change, I clicked on "Remove account". After this, all my contacts and calendar items have been removed from my phone. Then I added my Hotmail id again as an Exchange Account. But still the same issue ... it does not sync, giving the same system error message. I tried adding the Exchange account with manual settings. This does not go through at all.

I am not having any contacts on my phone now and there is no resolution to the issue.

Can anyone help?

Google services on Hawueii Media Pad M6

After using the Huawei Honor Pad JD09 for a few years and being very happy with it I bought a Media Pad M6 because of the higher specifications-4GB RAM, 128 GB internal storage, holds a 256 GB micro SD card and has a faster processor. I couldn't find specs this good on an Australian seller for an 8" tablet so I got one from Gear Best who I bought the first tablet from. the first one came with a Chinese ROM and language. I changed to English, uninstalled most of the Chinese apps and sideloaded the google play store, changed to the google launcher and its great. I only have the google apps I use, unlike a local tablet which has all of them. Unfortunately this new tablet seems to be blocking attempts to use any google apps. They install but don't work, whereas Microsoft's apps including the Microsoft launcher all work fine (although the Microsoft launcher cant be set to default, have to click on it after booting into the Huawei launcher. I saw some internet site suggesting a fix using an app from lzplay, but that link has been taken down. Anyone else got an easy fix? There are alternatives: Gmail works in the email app and outlook, my photos on google photos are duplicated on one drive, the calendar is duplicated in Microsoft's, and while not as good there are other mapping options. Plus all of google works in a web browser, just less convenient. Interesting Adobe Digital editions works, but Adobe reader is "incompatible". Most of the apps I got from phone clone (from my LG phone- the Honor pad, Hauwei's old device is not compatible-go figure when they want you to update from your old device!), they are not in hauwei's store but nearly all the ones I want work ok.

Huawei locks out third-party launchers from latest versions of EMUI for some reason. As for the Google apps not working, usually you can't just sideload Play etc. and expect them to work. Huawei used to provide an unofficially patched version of Play, etc. you could install their their own AppGallery app store, which what I'm still using on a Mate 10. But that seems to have gone now.

FWIW I'm not buying any more Huawei.

And my next phone will most likely be a Samsung Galaxy S10+

Need a new Android tablet! Recommendations and where to buy?

Another option that's more of a kluge -- assuming you also have a smartphone if your cellular service plan includes hotspotting than you can set up your own portable, limited WiFi network. Since almost all tablets include support for WiFi, your options to upgrade to a newer one are a lot less restricted. Not an ideal situation of course, and it requires having the hotspot service running on your phone which is going to add a drain on the battery.

Yeah, I have done that with my current tablet, my Galaxy s2 that is slowly dying. I agree, it's not 100% perfect fit but since most of the time when using my tablet, I am on Wifi, and if doing this does open up my ability to get any tablet I want, I agree...this really just might be the way to go.

Are you familiar with many of the Android tablets? Are there any that you think are awesome, given what I use it for? (reading on Kindle, surfing the web, emails, taking notes, and watching Netflix)? Would the s6 be much much more than I would need? What else might be worth looking at that would be a great upgrade from my s2?

Thanks for all your help on this post :)

The 7 Best Android Emulators Of 2018.

First of all, I am new to this forum
You joined five months ago, in June. :)
and I didn't see an older post about this.
The one you wrote? Whose link I posted?
Second, and even more important, what was valid a couple of months ago may not be valid today anymore.
Yes, indeed! Which is why I asked: "Wasn't this answered a few months ago, @Liviu Zaharia? Or is this different somehow?
The technology evolves, if you didn't know!
Oh my goodness! Isn't that fascinating? Here I was completely clueless! :o

Unlocking phone with new SIM

When you unlock a carrier-locked phone, then it's unlocked permanently. You can swap sims with impunity. As for cost, it's always going to be a trade off, depending on your usage. Since I was almost always near Wi-Fi, my H20 sim had minimal data minutes and I rarely used all the voice minutes in a billing period (it was about $10/month). I'm not saying they are the best, just what my experience has been. The nice thing about off-the-rack sims is there's no contract and it's a fairly small investment if the service isn't that good.
