Hey Cincy, I thought your joke was funny. At first I was fooled with the pic but once I found out it was a joke, I had to laugh because I realized 1) how out of reality I am with this phone 2) Gave me new perspective.

On the same token of your joke, I think you are taking this infraction a little too seriously. Yeah it sucks. Nobody ever wants to be reprimanded or disagreed with but you had your fun with it and forum rules have to be applied somehow. I think that if you "have a life" outside of this forum as you stated, then don't even sweat this infraction. It's meaningless when compared to real life.

Just saying cause I would hate to not see you contribute here anymore......

Not meaning to single out your message dan h, but it kind of demonstrates the general vibe of this forum, which I find really impressive. A whole bunch of different people from all over the world, from all different walks of life, and for the most part, everyone gets on with everyone else, and there seems to be a kind of positive attitude that self perpetuates. A kind of "pay it forward" ethic in here, which I don't see much of in the real world, and even less, on the rest of the internet.

Credit to everyone. Just text on a screen, but this is a nice place to be, and I'll be sad to potentially see it go when I pick up my Gnex on the 17th in the UK. Fingers crossed anyway.

In other news, I really need some GN tidbits today :(

3 hours of work left, my back hurts and work SUCKS today :/

Someone hack the FCC and find the clearance news for the GN :P

I hope your good fortune crosses the pond.

Something to think about....

Check the list of linkbacks at the bottom of this thread you're all so proud of. See how many other sites are monitoring this? What happens if someone screengrabs a page and posts the image elsewhere? Guess what? HIDE tags suddenly mean diddly-squat, and Android Forums gets bad-mouthed for posting bs.

When experienced mods set particular ground rules in a specific topic it's usually for a good reason. You all may be excited about the Galaxy Nexus, but outside here the world is still spinning on its axis and there are wider issues to be concerned with. Please try to remember that.

Since the other Veterans Day posts were appreciated, I will share this. I will understand if it is deemed off-topic and I am asked to remove it, but I hope not.
What is a Veteran?

Some veterans bear visible signs of their service: a missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in the eye.

Others may carry the evidence inside them: a pin holding a bone together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg - or perhaps another sort of inner steel: the soul's ally forged in the refinery of adversity.

Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem.
You can't tell a vet just by looking.

He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn't run out of fuel.

He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of exquisite bravery near the 38th parallel.

She - or he - is the nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang.

He is the POW who went away one person and came back another - or didn't come back AT ALL.

He is the Quantico drill instructor who has never seen combat - but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy, no-account rednecks and gang members into Marines, and teaching them to watch each other's backs.

He is the parade - riding Legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand. He is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass him by.

He is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The Unknowns, whose presence at the Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the ocean's sunless deep.

He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket - palsied now and aggravatingly slow - who helped liberate a Nazi death camp and who wishes all day long that his wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares come.

He is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being - a person who offered some of his life's most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs.

He is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and he is nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known.

So remember, each time you see someone who has served our country, just lean over and say Thank You. That's all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded.

Two little words that mean a lot, "THANK YOU".

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag."

Father Denis Edward O'Brien/USMC

I only hid it for those using the app so it doesn't take up much more space.
That being said - I had to go get more tissues.

I love the first comment after this article:

"I could care less if it says Verizon on the hardware, it just better not say it anywhere in the software."

There's going to be a couple of Verizon apps installed, so latest reported.

Backup assistant is apparently in, and I don't have a problem with that.
Hopeing the others are just as non-intrusive.

I'm ok with this only for the fact that I can root and remove. I want it pure as fresh fallen snow on a mountaintop

Had a casual stroll in to a VZW store to check out the new RZR for myself. Played with it for a bit, so far nothing special... Keep playing.... Feels snappy..... Screen starting to ger Very Warm...... A sales lady comes up to me:

She: great phone ha?
Me: not bad
She: not bad? It s awesome!
Me: well I am waiting for SGN
She: yes it would be nice to compare them
Me: very soon :) hopefully 17th
She: I don't know they have not released all the specs yet
Me: well they have released specs just not the release date :)
She: well I am not sure if it will be out on 17th but I am sure it won't be too long :)
Me: all we can do is hope and wait

I also saw a few RZR accessories including lap dock but it looked a bit cheap to me.

Come on VZ don't make us wait too much longer. The anticipation is killing us!!!

OK, so here's a question. If it released on 11/17 in stores, but you could order it online on 11/16 and be guaranteed you'd get it 11/17, which would you do? Buy it in the store, or order it online? I'd go for it online so no one touches it but me, and I don't have to leave work to get it.

Definitely online for me

Online without a doubt.

I tell EVERYONE I know with an android to be sure they are saving new contacts to their google account. My sister in law wasn't and lost them ALL

I think it used to do it automatically in froyo and early versions of gingerbread....but at some point it started asking me if i wanted to save it to my google account or just locally on my phone. I am not sure at all when that started to become an option when inputting a new contact but I haven noticed it recently.

I'm going with online as well as I will not be able to leave work or come in late. It will suck all day knowing that my phone is waiting at home and other people get to play with theirs all day.

However, if a phone could be held for me on launch day and I could swoop it at lunchtime AND keep the sales peoples grubby paws off it then I would be a happy Detroider.

OT: I waited in line outside a store for the BB Storm back in the day and the thing that sucked was I was 8th in line and it took forever to get my phone.

I would rather get it online but I will be going to best buy because of buy back program - which is worth it because it should work out as a free phone for me :)

Sooo, I stopped by the VZW store at lunch, to check out the RAZR, and to ask some questions. First, the RAZR. I knew they advertised thin, but man they ain't kidding. I checked the screen temp, but it was only slightly warm. I downloaded angry birds, to see if it would get warmer (which it did, but only a little), but I didn't want to hog it, as someone was looking over my shoulder to get their shot at it. It is too wide/thin for me, I felt like I couldn't get a good grip on it, so Steven's ergonomics concern definitely hit home for me. I didn't really check out too much else, on account of the person behind me.

Anyways I asked about the Galaxy Nexus. Sorry, didn't get much out of them, nothing we don't already know. I asked about release date, if they had seen any ad material or accessories yet, if they had seen one in person, etc. They knew it existed but wouldn't tell me anything (funny though, they never really told me no, they always deflected the question, like when I said if they knew the release date, they said it hadn't been announced yet, that wasn't really the question I asked). So I dunno, they either didn't know, or got the memo to play by the rules. Either way, sorry I couldn't get us more.

I'll wait until I have a chance to hold it in my hands before shelling out 300 bux for it.
