***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I've been waiting for the Gnex for awhile now... (although probably not as long as many of you) and I haven't been side tracked by the Razr or Rezound... but with the announcement of the D4, I think I might honestly prefer that phone. Any of you know more about what might make one better than the other?

~Skryre

the D4 has the exact same specs as the RAZR. the only difference is the pkb and a sligtly smaller screen. i played with the RAZR for a bit, and it felt almost too thin for me. the pkb will add some thickness, and might make it feel a little more comfortable in my hand. but, the smaller screen (plus locked BL) doesn't make it real attractive to ME, but it's certainly in the mix.

Only way you will have a phone NOT outdated by CES standards is to buy one a month or two AFTER CES. I mean by that logic people that don't have upgrades until after the first of the year shouldn't even consider this phone..

Unfortunately chasing the next best thing will never end.

Nope, it won't. My impression of a phone will always be linked to how long I have it before I wish I had another, better one. :D

^^^^^ Boom! svtgEEk drops microphone, arms outstreched, backs away slowly, keeps eye contact and wins best post of the morning.

It really is time to either release this device or walk away VZW. I agree with your 12/15 self-imposed deadline.

I agree. I've said it a few times and am just getting really, really tired of waiting. It's the 16th or bust for me. If this thing isn't out by then I have a buddy who is a manager for Sprint. I smell a cheap contract plus a discount on an SGSII.

It also looks like the D4 will not have a removable battery which is also a Con

This is an absolute non-starter for me. I can't think of a phone that I haven't replaced the battery after 1 year. I have a feeling people are gonna be a bit feisty about their RAZR's battery life in a year.

Agreed, but you don't announce a phone and it's specs in October, release it overseas in November, and then release it here in the US late December. The phone is 3 months old by that point which is on the verge of obsolecense these days. You announce and release the same month and then you have several months of being the top teir tech phone before you are knocked off. The Nexus will be knocked off as the top tech phone within a month of when it is released now. That should not ever happen.

The other side of the coin is being screw'd like moto fans

Oh man loved the DX, DX2 sure, oh wait the BLUR is every worse and isn't even worth upgrading to. Gingerbread on DX2 was a buggy mess compared to DX

D2, rushed phone with a horrible build, keep your OG.

BIONIC, ZOMG get this phone.. Oh man you should've waited.. RAZR FTW (accept for below average batt SEALED inside)

D3 treating you well? HAH we haz D4...

I feel like moto users keep getting tricked into buying outdated hardware..

It's already not that great. Biggest mistake on the phone, if you are gonna seal in the battery, it had better last all day.

For the people that keep referring to the Negri Electronics twitter feed for information, just stop it. Look back at how many times they changed the release date of their gsm version, not to mention the joke they pulled on people letting them order it for one price only to tell them later that the price went up and they wouldn't get their phone until they paid additional funds. Very shady company, their release info is not from inside sources, it's nothing more than a guess based on the information we already have. Not to mention they are selling a phone they can't even tell you how much memory it will have, but they know the release date???? Smh

I agree it was pretty shady.. but they have the 9th date from the shipment of phones that they are tracking into them, not a 'source'. So i think it lends to proof to the rumor about the 9th

Exactly why I'll never buy MOTO crap again. I'll buy a new battery and slap it in my OG Droid and wait on the new stuff in Q1 2012 if this Nexus isn't out by the 15th.

Also those RAZR users are gonna end up being like the fruit phone uses. Carrying around usb cables everywhere so they can juice up at any time they get a moment.

I personally think its easier to just carry around an extra battery if need be.

I hear ya, but for me I am contemplating dropping my upgrade line and importing a Nexus if this drags out anymore. The only reason I haven't yet is the 32gb and LTE are keeping me around.

Why they would want to push this phone closer to Christmas is beyond me. People are gonna have other things to do with their hard earned money for Christmas and a lot of people will find it hard to justify spending 300-700 on a phone when they need to put it towards something else. I for one am getting sick of these flopped launches from VZW.

Incorrect, unless as usual, they have changed their story again. Over this past weekend they stated via twitter that the 9th was coming from, and I quote, "our sources inside verizon", not a shipment they are waiting for. And if they have already placed an order and know it's coming, how do they not know the storage capacity?? Just saying that a lot of people are quoting them as a source, when they proven themselves to be shakey at best

I asked a VZW rep during one of my treks to the store about this issue. He insisted that not holding an adequate charge would be considered a hardware failure and therefore you'd be sent a replacement device.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one! Adequate is relative - my guess is that if it holds a charge even for half an hour, they wouldn't consider it a problem!

Totally agree. Be careful saying flopped or botched launches or everyone will flame you saying that "Verizon never gave a release date so its not flopped/botched" lol

I do agree though. :D

MOST of us have agreed? Not to slam anyone, but how could any Star Wars fan (I won't tell you how many times I watched #4 in the theater back when you couldn't play with your Galaxy Nexus while standing in line) suggest watching it any other order?

No offense taken. I'm 40 which means I was 6 when the first Star Wars came out on '77. I'm of the opinion that someone who's never seen the movie should see them in the sequential order... the story is fantastic and aside from some minor annoyances (Jar Jar Binks and "Nooooooooooo!"), it should play out as Lucas intended it. Just my opinion...

Anyway, so not to anger the Off-Topic Police, back to Galaxy Nexus talk...

I work for a bank that was recently sold to another bank. We're expecting regulatory approval any day now, which means the poo-storm will only increase in intensity. The merger is set for the first weekend in March 2012. As of this moment in time, we do not know what jobs are staying and what jobs are not. And since my wife and I both work for the same bank, we have all of our eggs in one basket, so to speak. We'll know about our jobs end of December 2011, or possibly early january 2012.

All of that to say... as much as I want the phone, a $300 purchase isn't a wise decision at this time with the uncertainty of our jobs. Once we (hopefully) hear that both of us will be employed, the first thing I'm gonna to to celebrate is buy me a Nexus. :D And it will only be about a month old, so I can still have a bleeding-edge phone.

I'll still be following this thread and the Nexus with earnest, but my purchase will have to wait, possibly indefinitely.

I know my parents had palm pre's and their batteries were pretty much finished. They bought a new battery, and voil

Let's not turn this thread into a classic mosh pit. Eventually people will turn to eating their young. Emotions are high and people are on edge.

Seriously. The wait is difficult and tedious with all the frustration. We can't turn on eachother guys and gals, we're almost there.

Sooooooo, you're new here?
