***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I just spoke to the nicest CSR I have ever had the pleasure of speaking with. I asked if I could pre-order today for delivery on Friday. He knew exactly what I wanted and said he couldn't wait to get his hands on one too. Convo lasted about 15 minutes discussing the phone, pricing, pre-orders (he tried to pre-order for me and actually said "Darn" when it bounced him out).

But he did put it in the notes that the store employees were to not open the box or touch the phone, but to simply hand it to me since I knew how to activate and use my NE2 for a grand price of $249 + tax. Then he said, "wait a minute. you don't have to activate it. Take your sim card out of the TB, place it in the GN and you're good to go." I'll be at the store opening 9AM, needless to say.

Possible, but I don't think so. I had it for the RAZR on release day. Apple is a whole different story. They maintain crazy control over their products and won't allow licensed retailers to discount their stuff. I don't think Google/Samsung have that kind of control. It's possible though, if VZW sniffs that this is a hot item, they could easily hold out on the discount.
 
Just called the Polaris corporate store in Columbus, Oh. Made an appointment for 9am friday. The guy said that they have no idea when it's coming out. I told him that I will take my chances and just call tomorrow to verify.

This is not true, will need a new microsim unless you want to cut yours up.

There had *better* be a dock on release day. :( I use my phone as an alarm clock next to my bed, I love my dock, I'll be so sad if I don't have one. and I don't want the portrait one, either. Also I'll probably wait on the extended battery to see if I need it, and see if the price drop.

Also- any other MA people on here? Boston area? Am I all alone? :(

I guess he didn't say (or you didn't ask) what the off-contract price is. I'm still assuming $649.
 
Thinking about the CSR thing, what does Verizon expect that nobody will call and ask? That's like Apple getting pissed people are waiting out front before the iPad release. When there is demand, rumor and no information, people will try to get that information. The CSRs can blame Verizon for their woes in this matter. Shoot, I'm blaming Verizon for the itch I have on my left foot, so let them have a field day.

Not that isn't to say that we can be rude or abuse them. No. It's just courtesy to be kind and understand their position (the CSRs not Verizon's position which makes about as much sense as string theory).

I have experienced that in Nashville. Never again!!! lol. Although it is funny to watch all the folks in their 4WD zipping along yet not realize that the ice below that snow really hinders your stopping distance.

Doesn't the Galaxy Nexus use a micro sim versus the full-sized sim that the Thunderbolt/Charge, etc. use?
 
Hey what do you guys think the chances are of walmart getting this phone on release day??? If they do what are the chances of a midnight release there?????
