Root Awesome Android Update 4 Released

Hey guys, i was wondering if an issue im having is just my phone or if its an awesome Android issue. Whenever I do something like opening/closing texts, going through settings, or anything else like that i get a red border around my phone, almost like its taking a screenshot, anyone else experience this? In running Awesome Android update 2, stock kernel, with the awesome theme, any input would be appreciated...

I am running awesome Android and haven't experienced what yir describing.

its really weird, my phone starts to run very slow, games are laggy, and i get random glitches, so i reboot into recovery, reflash the ROM, the updates, and i restore my apps, then im good for about 2 hours, then it all starts again... any ideas?

Also, i used to play a game called subway surfer on my Razr, but its damn near impossible now due to lag, i hope i can get it straightened out soon.

Been experiencing the phone lagging out quite a bit after a while. Don't know why but a quick reboot solves the issue.

I for one feel that as much work as is going into this Rom, that I can be patient and wait for a fix. No problem rebooting as it takes no time at all to do so.

Oh I know I'm being throttled. Its not the location but when I was throttled last month, I was still pulling in between 60 to 200 kbps. Can barely get 30 now.

with ICS. 1.4GHz chip, and 768 mb of RAM, theres no excuse for it. I think ZTE just royally f'd this device and thank god we have people like shin to make them what they shouldve been in the forst place.

have you gotten rid of your proxies? If you haven't, then your throttled speeds will be way slower before you do.

True enough. This device has lots of potential its just as you said ZTE is shit. Also not rebooting every hour maybe every 6 to 8 here.

I caught on another thread that ever since the update, the proxy trick didn't work anymore? If it does work, how would I go about that? Cuz they didn't really elaborate in the other thread.

Well, Shin had originally got rid of the hidden menu, but brought it back in update... 2 I think? So that we could change the proxies if we wanted, because without them they can still throttle you, but your speeds are still significantly faster without a proxy in the way. You get into the hidden menu in your dialer by pressing ##3282#. It will ask you for your phone's MSL to make any edits- to get it, I used the 'aLogcat' program in the google play store. It's free. (once you have aLogcat, open it, and type 'code' into its search function. Open the hidden menu. Reopen alogcat, and it will be displaying your MSL, as the six digit number next to sec_code.) change all proxy settings under 'multimedia', 'MMSC', and DSS to zeros; do not touch the ports (I would take screenshots of all original settings, just in case). Do this, and you should be good to go.

It is my understanding in the other thread that it was a bad idea to mess with the MMS settings, is this true?

some people weren't sure, but somebody tested it, and said it was working fine... ok so I just tested it myself, and it works without issues

Once I learned of BOOST throttling you regardless of your proxies I never really put forth much effort in worrying what mine were set to; HOWEVER, if my memory serves me correctly (which is usually doesn't), I think mine were automatically set to zeros with the new awesome android rom...I think. So I was under the presumption that maybe Shin had gone ahead and set them to zeros when he developed the new Awesome Android? Can anyone confirm if this is the case?

Nah, he added in the option to do it yourself later... they may have been set to zeros in update 1, I'm not sure, but in update 2 they aren't. If you set them to zeros, however, it will still increase your overall data speeds, unthrottled or otherwise.
