What I don't understand is why anyone is wasting time arguing with anyone else, for the guy that returned the EVO, you shouldn't be on the EVO forum.

Really? I can only participate in forums where others agree with me? This is news. Do the Mods know this?

For the second person to mention the LED light. Yes that was a deal breaker and yes I found a fix.

Actually I was the same person that mentioned it the first time, you weren't happy with the phone before you bought it and you weren't happy with it after you bought it, we get it, move on.

I dont see what people are doing... I was on my evo heavily due to playing with it this weekend and it lasted the whole day.... This is even before a few power cycles when the battery gets better in most cases... Plus if you need more power u can easly get a extended battery... So what is with all the complaining... wow I guess some people need something to complain about...

Maybe I just have higher standards than most of the responders here.

Sort of my OP. Sorry I'm not going to turn off the data network at night. Frankly for a premium data fee I find that ironic at best and really insulting (not the advice, just the need to do it). I also stated I can leave WiFi on 24/7 on the iPhone. Why is this such an issue on the EVO? The rest, inc. auto brightness, I did.

I dont know what to tell you man. I do remember when the iphone 3g came out, battery life was also an issue. Later on, there were updates that made things much better. Maybe google and htc will find a way.

In your first post, I had a similar battery life pattern, but I was was abusing the hell out of the phone (surfing the web with music in the background, making phone calls). Losing 12 pct of battery in an hour without doing anyting doesn't sound orthodox. If I left my phone to idle for 4 hours, I'd lose 12 pct from 100%. Im thinking your battery is bad or something.

Off charger at 5AM Sat. Everything except WiFi turned off (GPS, autosyncs, 4G, email, etc...) In other words exactly like my iPhone is set-up. Checked phone only twice since then. At 5PM 88% (Ok, not bad), at 6 AM this morning....red light flashing and 5% battery. WTH?

Sorry, I'm just not going to jump through hoops to basically turn into a dumb phone. Esp. not with the 'premium data fee'. Sorry...maybe next time around. For now it's back at Sam's where I picked it up Friday.

Hey man, i am glad you are happy with your Iphone. I am glad that there is more then 1 option for cell phones because that creates competition. I personally dont like the Iphone for many reasons, the OS, the plans, the provider, the fact that EVERYONE has one. All these things may be deal breakers for me, but you may love them! So good for you for choosing an Iphone, but you are making your self seem very childish coming to a forum where obviously people love android and the EVO and stirring up trouble, very High School if you ask me.

OH BTW about the 10 dollar fee. i would much rather pay 10 dollars and eventually get uncapped 4g service then not get 4g.

Again read my quote carefully. Ten times if needed.

Quote:
As I stated it is the standard customer plans after discount as noted. Maybe you don't understand tech as well either. Did you pay attention to ATT's announcement last week?

Exactly, after your mysterious discount of large $. A discount no one else would get. I am talking AFTER the bandwidth charge differences.

Actually a 19% disc. on ATT vs. 20% on Sprint.

Hi OP...

sorry you are having issues with..

the EVO
the battery on the EVO
the people on this forum... :P

like others.. please by all means.. go get the iphone.
There needs to be a healthy competition to keep the top companies trying to out do the other.. better for me and you.

The battery issue... sorry.. It sounds like u are asking too much of a heavily outfitted smartphone. You getting 25 hrs is not that shabby IMHO. it seams to me, the OS has not be well tweaked for EVO yet, so it might get better in the near future. Let me poss a question for you... Have you tried to push the phone with heavy use and see how the battery does? Some phone just dont idol well but it might also perform well under normal - light heavy use; and get you a full day.

Price.. the Sprint is $69.99 + $10. You dont have to get the $29.99 Hotspot.
With AT&T you have the $59.99 plus all the added fees for data (2Gb cap or 200mb cap; yes I read that news last week); texting; navigation..

in the end... when the bills hit your mailbox... Sprint will save you $$$

25 hrs of use with a EVO???? NFW do I believe that.

at 10 hrs of minimal use - zero surfing, zero calls my battery just turned yellow.

BB batteries last like waay longer. I never charged a BB in the middle of the day in my life - thus far, looks like EVO can't make it through a day hardly using it.

I'll definitely be looking for a longer lasting battery if a few more charges don't get better life to this one.

its the iphone battery thats fail. Crappier than the Evo's and you cant replace it.

I got 2 spare batteries for my Evo for 12$...do that with an iFail.

Perhaps if some of you had paid heed to this....

May I remind some people in this thread (not everyone) that bashing is not tolerated. If you don't like it then just move on to the next thread.

....then it wouldn't have come to this:

This forum is an embarrassment to Android users everywhere.

That sort of comment is bad for Android Forums. One person who takes away a poor impression can put off a lot of others by word-of-mouth. Try to remember that this place isn't here to massage individual egos or provide a podium to demonstrate your command of the snappy put-down. I strongly suggest a review of the Forum Rules (a handy link is provided below) and an effort to follow them if you intend to remain a member here.

Install ATK and see what apps are running. It looks like you have a lot of crap on your phone (no offense), so I'm guessing you have a bunch of crap running and don't even realize it.

A Covert Death what battery app is that on your 4g widget screen with your favorites? So far I have been getting around 10 hrs per charge with minimal use. I am thinking about testing ATK to see if I can get more out of it....

Your battery use seems about normal- if you have 3G on and clock/weather widgets, social app widgets and whatever else is running. That and the big LCD screen needs juice.

All the posts about how good or bad the battery is doing is too subjective, unless everyone uses the device the same, has the same signal coverage and we assume everyone charges fully, before reviewing and timing.

I suggest the following:

1. Remove ALL widgets
2. Make sure 4G is off
3. Run task killer every other hour, but kill all- including task killer.

added:

The very premise of a lot of the posts stating the battery is good or bad without reasonable and similar data comparisons are self-contradicting and not reliable by any measure. For any device- especially ones as "busy" as Android phones.

BTW, "Android system" is an aggregate view of the battery OS use and includes a lot of operations and apps running. Kind of like trying to find a problem in a city, but using the whole state for reference.

might want to swap out the live background too and test that out, they tend to eat up power... always easy to put it back if it doesn't help

I used my evo for the first day of actual normal work usage today, 10-15 phone calls totalling 30 minutes, i actually charged it around 10:30 and now the yellow battery indicator is on. cell stand by is 24% android system is 22%, phone idle is 22%,voice calls is 16% display, dialer and wifi total 16% between the 3 of them. I am not impressed, but i am not upset either because this thing is AWESOME. Will the battery life get better after a few weeks of use like my hero did? The Hero sucked battery for me at first as well, after a week or so it got better. Did this happen with anyone else? Maybe the EVO is going to be the same.

OOOPS! also just noticed that the 4g was "searching" for 4g signal for the last 2 plus days when 4g is not even close to me. OOPS.. maybe that will help my battery life.

"Live" wallpapers???? Seriously folks, anyone that wonders why a snapdragon powered, 4.3" LCD, with 3G/4G, widgets AND live wallpaper active does not last a full day, needs to adjust their expectations down ;) Really.

No offense intended.

Make sure you go into FB, Calandar, Email, etc programs and go into the settings menu to adjust all to update the least frequent timeframe possible, ie...never. When you visit that app/program you will usually refresh it by just opening it, there is no need to give it access to update all the time when you arent using it. This will especially be true if you have a very weak signal or are roaming. Also, try going to a still pic wallpaper as mentioned before, and add the mobile network on/off widget so you can turn it on and off as needed. I wish the would add a smart power consumption selection in the setting menu that would do this automatically. I hope this helps
