Root cant get to recovery

downloading the sprint lovers again. Naming it with the .zip and ensuring that it is not .zip.zip. Saved to the root and not in any folder. Then putting it in my phone and doing the volume down power start. I will select update when prompted to. Yes it says s-off. I am pretty sure this process is correct. Doing it now. Update in five

Yes then it will ask to reboot, select yes again and let it do it's thing for a few

Fyi if we get to ruu the necessary file can be found in rooting for dummies sticky in unrooting section. You'll need to select the one for your hboot and software. What it's your hboot version and base band and software btw?

Is there any diff guys between running the update utility or flashing the pc36img? I dont think there is but I have never run one...

alright. same as before it says sd checking...
loading...(pc36diag.zip)
then some no image stuff....

now parsing and has 1-6 for all the updates. Boot through wimax. Just hit start update....

Sorry my helpful friends...I did volume up after it asked me to reboot and it went straight into the white screen on off thing that is the problem. I have reached my end for it tonight. Been messing with it for hours. Yall rock though. Really helpful. I will check back in tomorrow and if anyone has another suggestion I can look into it. I don't know what that RUU is...some sort of hard reset wipe thing I imagine, but I don't have the concentration for it tonight. Thanks again guys.

Yeah it's basically a full factory reset. It should fix everything and is the last trick in my book lol. We will have to root you again after but oh well.

Ruu it's rom update utility. Flashes your phone from the comp with the stock defaults. There is also a pc36img file but given that seems to be failing we may try both.

Okay, so did you ever flash a RUU or PC36IMG.zip with the contents of one? main difference between one of those and sprint lovers (aside from the ROM itself being rooted, which doesn't matter too much here) is that the RUU will reflash hboot too, which is probably where you've gone wrong. What is your current hboot version? How long have you had this phone? Do you know what hboot version it came with (if you ever accepted an OTA update, it'll be different). I've seen this problem before. I'll give you the disclaimer now - it's one of the few issues I could never figure out before the person with the problem just went and got a replacement. If you can stick it out, we might be able to fix it.

Also If you are going to flash an ruu flash one for your hboot or above dont go backwards.

Yes, that is very true, but in the situation, we need to know specifically what you have before you do anything else. There are things you can try, but don't pull the trigger just yet.
