Root cant get to recovery

No dice. It updates everything. All the way down to the wimax then it askes if I want to reboot. I select yes and it jumps right into the loop going to the white screen and off. White screen and off. Then when I turn it on using the volume down power button mode it prompts me to start the update all over again. I think its a lost cause....

Yeah just take it off your sd card itll stop looking for the update...next...gimme a minute to think lol

If you go to hboot, the only place you can go, and then toggle down to recovery it does what? Goes to fastboot, hboot, screen with triangles?

yea I can't get my phone to show on sync.

Dont want it to show on sync just want to know if it recognizes the phone is plugged in so last resort we can run an ruu, unroot then start from square one as a last resort. Not yet though.

Totally stock sd. And yea it actually did the whole update with the status bar on the side and everything. Then on the reboot just went into the loop. I don't know why this happened. I have only flashed from stock rom, to cm6, then to cm7. I had not reflashed anything in over a month. Randomly my evo would reboot. Sometimes it would just reboot and sometimes it would do the loop and eventually take me into the cm7 logo and load. Then saturday night it never went into the cm7mod. NO idea why...I had not messed with it.

I don't think it had. So I probably did something wrong. I just did not know a whole lot and got psyched up about doing it and used unrevoked. And from what I've been reading it was not the best way. But I also read some threads that showed guys who had stock evo's who were having rebooting issues. But mine were probably due to the root. Who knows.

My current stance is to flash an ruu. It will refresh all internal partitions to default and fix anything from system to recovery. It will unroot your rom but that's fixable...better than a phone that doesn't turn on lol

what recovery have you been trying to install? it could have been a bad download, you may want to try and re-download it. it is weird that you can't get hboot to read the img file. the only thing that i can think of at the moment is that maybe you have a bad PC36IMG file.

edit: +1 evomattnc. i was just thinking that as well.

Ok we have a consensus lol lets take that path.

I agree....try dloading again. Maybe even format the SD card first.

Try the sprint lovers pc36img first...then an ruu
I have seen this before on xda but honestly didn't believe in a bootloop brick. The ruu pc36img has always worked for me in this situation.
What all did you do exactly just prior to this happening. Are we sure hboot says s-off.

Make sure after running your pc36img when it says do you wish to reboot....hit yes ....it still has files to install at first boot. I have found this is where most goof and select no.....then try to go to recovery

He says s is off and we just attempted sprint lovers are you suggesting we dl sprint lovers and try it again?

He also flashed a recovery file and it didn't take either apparently which brought me to ruu.

Go ahead and dl and try again to ensure it wasn't a bad dl and if it doesn't work we will go ruu
