Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

This is how to make your phone look, not run, like it has ics. This is for our samsung galaxy prevails running cm7

NOTE: i did not make any of these files, just posting how i got my phone to look like it has ics.

First download and install the modified ics theme from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317283
Download and install the ics1.6.apk package and install it

Next go into theme chooser from the app drawer and select @string/theme_name. (that really is the ics theme, dev must have called it that by accident) when you try to apply it, theme chooser will tell you "sorry, this theme is missing assets... ". Dont worry about it and hit apply anyway. This will apply the theme for everything except launcher.

To get the ics theme for adw launcher, our launcher, go and install this app from the app market
https://market.android.com/details?...ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImtvdi50aGVtZS5pY3MiXQ..
Do not open the app, just install it.

To apply adw theme, on your phone go to settings> adwlauncher> themes preferances> select your theme and choose ice cream sandwich.

That should do it. From there just modify things to your like or look at screenshots of ics to make it look more like the real thing.

Again, i made nothing, just sharing the steps how i did it for anyone interested. Many thanks to the devs making our phones better

I had this since version 1.4(when the HDPI version(originally by "Sonnysekhon" was converted to MDPI) by Boykioy(from your XDA link). Still use it as my daily driver though personally I would recommend the version from the xda forum since the one from the market still has some HDPI related bugs. Also it seems you are posting two different ICS themes. That XDA link is the updated version and that market link is the older version. You should not have to download it twice to work properly.

This is the link to the one created by the developers(Sonny/Boy/Zdune) in the first thread you linked from xda https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sonny.theme.icsmdpi Kovdev's version from your market link is still the old 1.4.1 HDPI only version which won't work 100% properly since the Prevail has a MDPI screen resolution. You literally will have 2 themes on your phone if you download/install both of them. Just need 1.

thank you riotpump. upon further review, you are right, you dont need both themes. you just need the first theme that you apply in theme manager. i will edit my post to show how you can get the ics wallpapers and the missing app drawer icon as well as change the launcher a bit to get that five icon ics style.

thanks, now i can remove that second theme that just takes space.

Hroark, you truly deserve a break. Thanks for all your work.

Question for all those that installed cm7 from the stock gingerbread rom, is there any difference performance wise from installing it from froyo? Thinking about trying it, or is it a waste of time?

Flashing it from a rooted gb with cwm didn't make any difference from froyo really but if you want "official " support on this version of cm stick with froyo...
I am just getting into android development (spent 2 years game hacking)

Was this run on CM?

I think the ttyCIQ is created in the kernel

not sure if it can be removed or not

but the CIQ services, libs and apps are not there so there is no way it can run

Yeah cm7. I used voodoo ciq detector posted on the the acs blog

My wife and I both have prevails running CM7 on the EE14 baseband..

My prevail:

They say "nothing found" scrolling all the way down.

Off the current topic for a sec.
To everyone running CM7 on EJ06, I installed CM7 on my wife's phone from the stock GB rooted giving it the EJ06 baseband and I got lots of porblems like market & WWF forced closed alot and got a bootloop a few times. I downgraded the baseband to EE14 and reflashed CM7 and it works fine now.

If you see these issues, it may be because of this..

It works if you only upgrade the baseband, in Odin. Just the .ops and phone.tar- nothing else.

I haven't messed with my phone too much lately, but does the new ej06 baseband help out any?

Just a little better signal reception. It's worth it to take the few minutes to upgrade it, then create your own Odin images while ur there thanks to kouma's script ;)

I've already made quite a few Odin images of my phone, but I'm just trying to decide if it's really worth changing the baseband again. I get good enough reception already and am running a killer PRL at the moment, so who knows what I'll do.

what's this killer prl

It works good where I'm located in N.C., but I am currently running Sprint's business PRL 1120.

The only problem is that you can not update the PRL o.t.a., or through CDMA Workshop if you are using Cyanogenmod.
That's why I'm in a tossup as to whether I as want to change a good thing and Odin back to change anything.

Anybody get any ICS apps to run on this? So far I've only been able to update Google Music, Market, Calculator, and the keyboard (even though i dont use it).

Ok i'm using EJ06 Gingerbread Rooted Image with CWM5 made by Chin Checka,
Which has carrier IQ...confirmed via the lookout security app available in the market.

I've had several issues with reactivating my device with boost.

can someone explain the safest and best way back to cm7?

i fear the phone wont activate after an install..
