Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

My notifications (sms, twitter, google+) do not ring aloud after installing the lower volume fix... it vibrates only...

Phone calls ring normally.

the host file blocks ads

Ok ... so dose that mean all ads or just certin ones
the host file is a txt file of a list of known ad servers, if any app or web page calls for a link to those ad server address's they are blocked.
So if the ad server is not in the list then it will go through.

So is that host file in cm currently or is it only in hf3?i have looked for it for a while and havent fiund it so am i missing somthing. And i must ask why is this keyboard so lagging now never had this problem b4

Really none just titsnium back up maps and navigatir added 9mm theme which keeps not stickin after turn off the phone and whatever came with cm7 havent learned how or what to mod yet just starting out but really its only bsd when useing the browser or e mail works fine in text and market

then use titanium to try and do a restore on the keyboard and see if that works.

when I say mods I mean 3G super charger scritps, RAM optimization scipts, kernel teaks, and possible installing themes, anything that changes the way the phone works

Hmm.... If this fixed the low speaker phone volume I'm all in that was my only problem :P (not that I didn't use CM7, it was just a minor annoyance)

No problems at all with hotfix3.

I did have a problem with hotfix2 unfortunately. It bricked my phone. When I rebooted after flashing the zip, I got the Samsung and android screens. Then the screen went black and I never got the CM7 bootani. If I hit the power button all the bottom buttons would light up and I would get one vibration.

I went back and tried to restore my CWM backup and it failed. My old CTMOD backup restored.

Anyway, I flashed the zips for CM7 and hotfix2 and it worked but I had to set up everything from scratch and restore from market or TB. I forgot to do a Koumapack first or I probably would have been fine.

No big deal, I had the time to do it and I really did not take very long anyway, but I was really relying on CWM to work with the restore. Have used the restore before with SHABBYMOD .9 when 1.0 crashed and the restore worked fine.

Then I noticed that I had missed the fact that there was a recent update to CWM. My fault again for not reading carefully.

Sooooo, this time around I did a Kouma pack, updated CWM, did a backup and then installed hotfix3. Worked like a champ.

Not sure why I had the problem with Hotfix2. Could it have been because of CWM? Or something I had done?

This time I also made sure that I had not moved any apps to system using TB. I also used S2E to move Dalvik and apps back to internal before I did the Kouma pack. Moved them back to SD after hotfix3 flashed successfully.

None of this might have made any difference but I wanted it to work this time.

Excellent job on CWM and CM7. My phone is running better than I ever thought possible.

Hey people . I'm thinking about changing over to CM7 from CTMOD 2.4 . Any thoughts or pointers for me ?? I've read through the thread but it still doesn't actually tell the benefits of changing to CM7 other than speed and battery life . I get good speed and battery life from my CTMOD . I'm just getting bored with it ! :p What are the actual benefits and what can CM7 do ? Thanks in advance !! :)

EDIT: Already changed to CM7 and loving it !!

Hey Biker! Glad to hear you are thinking about trying out CM7. Nothing wrong with CTMOD. I still have backups of it just in case I need my phone to work if there was a problem with CM7. I was late to jump on the bandwagon, so this has not been necessary. CTMOD is an excellent ROM and there is a new version I have not tried yet.

Cyanogen mod 7.1 is awesome. Go to their website and see what it does. Read the Wiki. Unfortunately, I think I saw on Facebook today that the site may be down for a day or two.

Don't be scared off by this thread. Hroark and team have worked very hard on this and the latest version with hotfix3 fixes almost all the remaining problems.

Maps has problems with it, but the Nav app works fine. I use YP anyway and most of the time for me maps is just a starting point to eventually use Nav. I have found out that contacts can go straight to Nav and figured out some other workarounds. Hroark includes an older version of maps but it still does not always work. I have not tried to update to the newest version of maps since applying hotfix3. I actually just did that tonight.

Give it a shot. I know that you will love it. You can CWM restore back to CTMOD anytime because both roms use EXT4 format. No RFS. You will only need to go back to that if you need to return to stock for some reason.

I'm re-reading the thread right now and gonna give it a shot afterwards . Thx :D

EDIT:
I really use the NAV a lot ( only lived here 2 yrs. ) so I hope it will work out . That would be a deal breaker . MAN OH MAN !! There are a lot of posts in this thread !

Read the OP posts carefully like I know you always do. There is a lot of stuff in the main body of the thread that is really no longer relevant and some stuff that never was relevant. Most of the other stuff has been fixed.

Google cyanogen mod and you will see what it is all about. Lots of YouTube videos too.

Nav works by itself. I tried the version of maps included with the ROM just now and had FC issues and then UN installed that and installed the newest version from market and had FC issues. There once was a big red warning not to update Google maps. I did get it to work once when I thought that I really needed it but have had problems ever since. Maybe it is working for others.

It was almost a deal breaker for me but I find that I actually like YP better for what it does. And like I say, Nav works without a hitch.

I also have the mobile web based version of maps bookmarked in Dolphin. It does most of what you probably need but does not have the Seamless integration with Nav.

Again, maybe others are not still having problems with maps.

For a while, I had maps uninstalled completely and used the Web based version. But I put it back to use Nav.

And of course you could use TeleNav

Also, be sure and update your CWM to the newest version that just came out.

Use the Kouma Odin packer to keep PC Odin images of CTMOD and CM7 in case you have a problem with restoring CWM backups. Normally this is not a problem, but they are good to have if your phone and SD are destroyed.

Keep your CWM CTMOD backup handy and you will be fine.

Ok , I'm up and running !!!! WOOOOO HOOOOO !!!! So far , so good !!!! :D What's up with the drop down menu when long pressing the power button ? No recovery option ??

EDIT : Never mind , I found it . :p I just gotta get in this thing and find out where everything is . This is gonna be fun !! :D

EDIT: No luck w/ Maps . Oh well , at least Nav works .

I just wanted to say THANKS Hroark !! I haven't been able 2 put this phone down since installing CM7 . The only issues I've had have already been mentioned . If I run across anything new , I'll letcha know .
