Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

ive been messing around with the new way to get the phone into DM mode with CM7. However for some reason after i enable it, it will connect to my phone but i am unable to unlock it with the password.

Anyone else run into this?
 
Liking Beta 5 so far and my new class 10 16GB SD. Thanks to WetBiker7 for the tip on that.

Getting Quadrant scores around 800, but they still fluctuate.

Getting R/W scores from SD tools of 25/8. Is that good? The price was right.

Old card was getting 11/5.

Kouma mentioned a break in period. Might it get faster? Especially the Write speed.

Or maybe just crash because of the price. LOL. Worth it either way.

I think that we did pretty good , Wy . The more I use it , the faster it's getting . I'm getting very similar speeds to yours right now and you just can't beat it for the price . Good thing we got it when we did , they're back at regular price now . :D
This new Beta 5 is nice !! I really like hroark's tweak on the sd ext , It's working nicely . Glad Johnny and I got the themes working again too . That's a plus for me . Thanks for the help Johnny !

hey no problem, as to the speeds are either of you using the script in /etc/init.d called sdcache?

basically it changes the read ahead kb on the sd card at 3270 I get 32 to 33 read speeds and 12 to 15 writes I think. I have not tested for so long I dont remember.

hey im up , just turned on google talk
the sdcache is in the ctmod rom

you can open it using 7zip, dont extract just open then find the etc/init.d and then copy the sdcache to a folder on your sd card then using root explorer you can move it to the /etc/init.d on the phone and reboot.

I made a typo in there its 3072
I didnt just edit because I know of at least one person that may not have seen the edit as they already looked at the post.

Kind of sounds like those old SD speed increase apps we use to use.

I would have thought that CM7 and/or Hroark would already have that in there somewhere?

@ Wyelkins , got the sdcache transferred . Now it's time to test and tweak . I'll letcha know what I find out .

I have played with Beta 5 a lot. And I had some problems at first because of me. But now with my new class 10 and a little more screen time, it is truly awesome how fast it is.

I was going to go back to ADW EX. And I have it on there ready to switch over. But, I have loaded up a lot of stuff. Many apps that I actually use a lot and with Zeam they fly.

I am multitasking like a muth..uh you know.

I cannot believe what this hardware can do all at the same time without annoying lag once the right software is on it and guys like Mr. Roark behind the wheel.

I just froze ADW EX as a system app. Gonna stay with Zeam after all for a while.

And I still have not tried Optimus SD speed boost script from CTMOD. Scares me to think how fast that will make it.

I guess my card is getting broke in. Lol.

So does haptic feedback work at all for this beta version of CM7? I would like to know as well because I have everything checked under phone, Cynanogen and Spare parts settings and get no feedback while pressing the front four buttons. Thanks in advance.

As far as battery goes I average 40+ hours on both Cyan and CTmods. The most I have clocked was 66hrs and change with CTMod. Using WiFi and 3G data on only when necessary. I receive mms and calls with 3G data off in my area most of the time. Only while I'm driving I turn on 3G.

when you open the phone dialer and press the numbers it should vibrate

that is haptic feedback, so the function does work


as far as getting it to work with other things, I am not sure how to do that

if you figure it out, let me know

I was using ctmod for awhile to test prls.......Thanks for your work B.D.!
And I finished up with the prls and flashed cm7...5 right overtop of what I had nervously and it worked without a hitch!
Not having any problems with anything that Im aware of!
Love how ya trimmed it up!

LOL! I am flattered, although I'm not sure I would consider myself a "Linux expert"! I have used Linux extensively for more than 10 years, though Ubuntu has caused me to get a little rusty since most everything works "right out of the box" unlike Debian in my past experience. Nonetheless, I would like to contribute to the cause wherever I can.

are you good with ppp in Linux ?
 
Haptic feedback is fine, its a hidden setting however, AFAIK it was the same way on beta4 and it works fine here. I'm just about to update mine and get it going on beta5 with my mods and stuff.
 
Ok , I really don't know what I've installed that causing me problems . Last night when I was talking to a friend , I did a Titanium restore . The restore went well and the phone was running great . I went to reboot and all the apps I had restored disappeared . I rebooted and magically they reappeared . This happened several times after rebooting . I thought that Titanium may be the cause so I installed them manually the next time after a fresh install of beta 5 . Today the darn phone started doing it again . I've gotta conflict on Beta5 with the one or more of the apps I'm running , I think . I reverted back to the previous version of CM7 today and my phone is running like a champ . Same apps , same set up minus S2E on Beta5 . Gotta have my phone through the week so I'm gonna work on it some more this weekend and find out were my conflicts are . :confused:

I guess it depends on what you need. I used to run Linux back in the day when one accessed the net through a dial-up modem, so I do have some experience dealing with ppp on Linux, but not sure it's applicable to what you're looking for...
